Hi Lovelies,

I had the hardest time deciding on what was an "appropriate" number of bridesmaids. I seriously found myself digging through website after website trying to view any and all wedding rules pertaining to how many a bride should have.

I chose my girls based on the role each played in my life. I can honestly say that each girl is a good and close friend. Unfortunately, I've received a bit of negative response people (family and friends) and now I'm conflicted.

Briana, we can't make your friend feel any different that she's going to feel, even if all of us were silver tongued orators. We don't know who she is, what her personality is, how confident she feels, etc. She will notice -- you can count on that. How she interprets what she sees is a mystery to us. We're just guessing.

My guess, based on human nature? A "real" friend will look at your wedding party, and she'll consider all eight of those ladies. She'll wonder why she wasn't included in the squad. She'll probably deduce that you have more love, history, and friendship wrapped in those other eight ladies than you do in her. Sure, she'll be confused. And that, whether we like it or not, is the essence of human nature. If you don't want to offend anyone, scale it back -- way back, or have your eight member bridal party -- or maybe, add a ninth lady. It's up to you.
