Just got married Sept 19 & would like to drop some names, places & services, some of which aren't on WeddingWire (yet?).
Venue: The Smithfield Center (Ask for Courtney) (757) 356-9939 - had my ceremony on their back deck & reception inside. Rooms for getting ready, beautiful view on their deck & their reception hall can be just about anything you want it to be. I had 14 round tables, bridal party tables, a buffet line, appetizer table, beverage table, a DJ set up, a cake table, a photo op set up & had plenty of room for a dance floor.
(lighting on the perimeter compliments of the DJ to be mentioned)Cake: The Cake House (Ask for Karen) (757) 542-4700 - delivery was on time, exactly what I asked for & DELICIOUS. Well worth the price. Cake & cupcakes were moist, frosting was the right amount of sweetness & guests raved about them. We did a two tier & four dozen cupcakes for about 75 guests. The flowers on the cake are ones I brought to Mrs. Karen (Amazon) & the signage is mine as well (also Amazon), but the cake stand & cupcake stands are hers.
Makeup Artist: Myiah Bonds here on WeddingWire! Look for Makeup by Myiah! Absolute sweetheart, listened to what I wanted, filled in the blanks where I wasn't sure & I felt like my outcome was PHENOMENAL! The make up withstood sweat, tears & time - even the lash application!
Hair: Tanya at All About U in Carrollton (757) 238-2992 - she did my cut, highlights AND my style. The curls & style held all night, & I still had curls the next day. (Doesn't seem like I got a good colored picture of my hair before my veil, so I added a bridal hair trial pic to show the balayage highlights & curls that she does)
DJ Services: Andre "DJ Boogie" (email is ****************@*****.***) Easy going, listens to what you want, lots of experience, GREAT at it, flexible & respectful. Glad he was one of my first vendors I booked because song selection took me a while - can't tell you how many times I changed The First Dance song, processional & recessional. But the day of, he had it right. Had no problem doing my ceremony music in addition to reception music & announcements. He & his partner gladly came with us to scope out venues & he gave honest feedback. I had a dry wedding because it wasn't in our budget - with as much fun as everyone had, you'd have never guessed it! He & his partner asks for a picture with the happy couple as a memento! The lighting you saw around the perimeter at the venue is called uplighting & it was their equipment - not owned by the venue. We had uplighting, party lighting on the dance floor & these guys were total MVPs. Maybe 50ish of 80ish invited guests came, no alcohol involved & it they made it a total BLAST. Never a dull moment! I had SEVERAL guests comment on their work!
Catering: The Catering Place, (757) 923-3333, www.mycateringplace.com - Food delivery on time, hot & wonderful! More than enough for everyone! Highly recommend their brisket. (I have no pictures of their food, unfortunately, but I did post their website which will have pictures)
I'd love to name drop my photographer, but unfortunately she is newly pregnant, moving & can't commit to any new clients at this time. As soon as I hear she is able to take new clients, I will GLADLY name drop her!
