6 Day Mini-moon -- ideas!

Sarah, on May 4, 2018 at 5:22 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11

We're getting married Labor Day weekend in Philadelphia and live in New York City. We have six days afterwards for a mini-moon and will take a more substantial trip in the new year.

Looking for places you've loved...found decadent (~ $500/night or less) and romantic in New England, the mid-atlantic or possibly south east coastal areas. Prefer small / boutique hotels over large ones.

We live in a big city so if we go to a city, we want access to nature. Also happy with a small city or rural areas with access to hiking, swimming, etc. We just want to RELAX! Smiley smile

We're a queer couple so looking for LGBTQ-friendly areas as well.

Please share your travel tips and honeymoon insight with us!

Thanks!!

It's not on the coast, but Asheville is wonderful! Small city with great food and beer. Blue Ridge Parkway is about 5 miles outside of town.

Elk rut season should be starting in Cataloochee. Amazing animals! Great cabins to rent at Willow but those are all in town. We stayed at Buffalo Creek for our first anniversary. It's about 40 min from Asheville.

I'm from the Poconos and there are a ton of places around here that are nice. If you want nature there are a ton of places to hike or bike. There are also a bunch of places that do rafting/kayaking. There are also some historical areas if that's what your into.

We are doing Asheville! Its got all the beer and amazing food. Also the Biltmore which has amazing wine and is incredible to view.
Another option is Charleston, SC if you can make it that far down. Its absolutely amazing. City with a small town feel, by the water, beautiful, amazing food, etc. Savannah, GA is a bit more small town than Charleston with the same feel.
If you all like food, wine, and beer, Charlottesville, VA is home to a lot of good wineries and breweries. There's decent hiking near by too. All of these places are pretty cheap to stay at so you can save money for the important things!
If you choose Asheville, I have a ton of stuff planned. A gourmet food walking tour, wine and chocolate tasting, moonshine train tour, horseback tour of the Biltmore, etc.

How about Rehoboth, DE? It isn't far from Philadelphia. I have only heard good things, never been there though but am actually going for my bachelorette party. I have heard it is LGBQT friendly.

    White mountains NH
    Conway, North Conway, Jackson area.
Quaint, rural, hiking, ski lifts(even when it’s nit snowing they take you up),shops

also Newport RI. Quaint, not much hiking but lots of outside parks, walking etc. mansion tours and such. It’s on the water.

Both those areas are very LGBQT friendly

We’re doing a mini moon near Woodstock, NY. Renting an Airbnb treehouse in the woods.

Second Rehoboth/Lewes, DE! It’s an adorable coastal town, especially in September when the crowds leave. It’s very LGBQT, it’s actully known for it! Rehoboth is more your typically beach town with a big boardwalk and beach. Lewes is quieter, but with plenty of restaurants and shops along the canal. Lewes has a bayside beach that’s waaay less crowded than Rehoboth. Along route one there are plenty of outlets, shops, and restaurants. While I don’t know if I can per se, There are plenty of walking trails, bike trails, nature parks. Geographically, you can also travel by ferry to Cape May or Travel south along route 1 to other beach towns. And if you like beer, dogfish head brewery is nearby and offers a wonderful tour and tasting room .
