@Kierra - No one talked down to you. We did say we did not believe you would be paying so little for food, self catering or not. We also said its a bad idea to make your family work for your wedding.

Being told you have a bad idea is not an insult to your person. People have bad ideas all the time.

No Kierra, she can't make it happen regardless of what her budget it. Are you familiar with the phrase "money doesn't grow on trees?"

Next you'll be telling someone to buy a $500k house while making $15/hr. "You can make it happen regardless of what you earn!"

Okay? But he's not actually catering your wedding. Your family is.

If your caterer uses "ur" in a message about a consultation, I'd look into another caterer.

Like Kate said, I still cannot believe you're paying $2000 for décor, but allowing your guests to eat shitty homemade pasta. Wow.

Lol, wtf even is this shit?

We don't care about your contracts. We care about your family and not making them work.

Kierra I live on Long Island. I can't even get a Happy Meal for $9, let alone a full meal. Here just to go to dinner for two people is upwards of $50.

The point of the reception is to thank the guests for coming to the ceremony. If they have to cook food, how are you thanking them?

If you don't care about your guests, then you should have eloped.

@Kate for the few moments it was up her "Decor" looks to be a wedding planner DOC to setup and takedown things. I hope where she is having it she doesn't have to pay for the rentals.

Guest's know the difference between spaghetti and ragu and a catered meal...

Also anytime you host anyone you should want to host them properly

Im aware cost of living in Louisiana is cheaper. Happy meals here are like 4-5 dollars.

Kierra, seriously though. Please reconsider making your family cook for your wedding. They will thank you for it!!

Okay, so I'm having a $5000 wedding in an area comparable to NYC (slightly less). We are having less than 15 people. We are having a City Hall wedding and hosting a restaurant reception. We are expecting to pay about $100-$125 pp for food and alcohol.

@kierra if we are so irrelevant then why do you keep arguing with us? You do you, boo! But I personally could not live with myself knowing I was inconsiderate and rude to the people I chose to invite to celebrate with me. But if you are ok with that, knock yourself out!!

Do whatever you feel most comfortable with. If your family wants to cook for your reception, I don't see why that should be a problem. What area are you in?

@kierra i apprieciate where you are coming from. but dont feel like you have to defend yourself to the other posters. people have provided their opiniona and you have provides yours. not knowing you or where you come from generally my best advice is if you are feeling down take a step back and look at yourself and the circumstances. if are confident in your choices then you dont need to defend yourself here. if you are secons guessing yourself then we can help you figure out why. i will not pretent to know the right answer to all. i cannot say what is right for you.
