I am having the sleeves shortened, the dress hemmed (4 layers), and a bustle. Is this on the low/average end of alterations cost?

That sounds about right. I had mine hemmed in the front to leave a small train in the back, a small bustle added, the straps reinforced and the beading checked over for about $325.

That sounds about the average price for alterations

I’m in Denver, CO. My alterations will cost $450 as well. Added bust cups, straps shortened, train removed and full hem (didn’t like the train). I was expecting around $500. I think it’s pretty average for a bridal gown.

If your dress has appliques on it that make a border around the hem, those are super time intensive to do. The seamstress needs to remove all the appliques by hand, hem the dress, and then reapply them all perfectly. With four layers to hem, it sounds like a more complicated dress, so I wouldn't be surprised if this was the end cost. There is just a lot of labor involved.

That's a pretty good price! I wish I could've only spent $500 in alterations... But you live and you learn!

I think once you purchase the dress, alterations should be included in the price and there should be levels depending on how much you spend on your dress. I have alternations in May and hoping it's not crazy but will be prepared.

That sounds about average. I paid $900 for mine, but I am based in Northern VA so I feel everything is a little more expensive here lol. Gorgeous Dress!!!!

I was quoted between $400 and $600 for similar and have had several friends say the same thing, so I think it's pretty average.
