$350.00 for a fingertip veil ??

christine, on February 8, 2018 at 9:03 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 32

With the wedding approaching, 7 months away, I probably will be asking a lot of questions and looking for help and advice !! so WOW, veils cost this much... lol we picked up my daughters gown last night, it's a Stella York and it's just so beautiful. So of course, they starting popping veils on her head and of course the one that we loved the most and felt matched beautifully was 350.00... Do we shop around, gamble on ordering online, where do you brides buy your veils from. I've looked on Etsy, but I'm so afraid that it won't match the gown.. What should we do ?? We do have the gown home until her alterations begin in June. Again, thanks for any suggestions!!

I’m using Blanca veils on Etsy. You can order a tulle and lace sample packet so you can match it. I did it and it worked perfect. It’s a lot cheaper than designer veils and she makes custom veils. Amazing reviews online also.

I have a Stella York dress it is ivory and moscato. The boutique I got it from put it with an ivory veil and I loved it but not for $165.00. I ended up doing a lot of searching and found a lady on Etsy. She custom makes veils and for a finger tip, angel cut, with beading came to $59.99. The shop name is Westernbride, hope this helps.

Also used Blanca Veils and I'm OBSESSED with my veil. I got a cathedral length veil and it cost me $99 plus shipping. I had even customized it to match my dress with the lace border by purchasing her sample pack first and matching it to my dress before ordering. I would highly recommend this Etsy shop! Veils are handmade and absolutely stunning.

That's super expensive for a fingertip veil. Look on Etsy. I was just viewing YouTube videos about brides DYI-ing their veils. It's incredible how inexpensive it is to make a veil yet so expensive to buy one.

Woof, that's a lot for basically fancy mesh fabric going on your head. I chose not to have a veil, but you can hit the fabric store and make it yourself. It shouldn't cost much. Or you can order from Etsy, they're not horribly priced.

Hey Christine, don't worry about sharing your questions, that's what we're here for!

$350 for a veil is totally common, but you will be able to find other more affordable options too. Check out David's Bridal, both their regular items and their sale items. What color is her gown?

I'm following this thread for suggestions as well. The veil I fell in love with is $400!! Thinking custom or DIY is the best way to go because the materials really arent that expensive.

That's exactly how it was when I went to DB to pick up my dress. They used a $300 veil and $150 belt when I was at my fitting. I'm going to be ordering both online. The belt will be coming from Amazon and I'll probably get the veil from Etsy. Seven months out is long enough for you to explore more cost-saving options, but I would suggest making sure that you have whatever you want in hand before alterations begin.

I looked at several veils in a few different shops, and fell in love with a fingertip one that was $395. Nothing else I tried had the right kind of beading or lace, and I had a pretty specific look in mind. I originally wasn't going to go over $300, but my mom insisted we get it after she saw how much I loved it, and we got the shop to knock off 10%, so we got it. YOLO.

I, personally, was not comfortable ordering any part of my attire for the day online. I needed to see things in person.

Blanca Veils! She has an etsy shop and a regular website as well with a veil builder. My cathedral veil was $56 and I couldn't be happier! It's exactly what I wanted without breaking the bank. I also ordered the sample kit to match the tulle to my dress first before ordering. She was quick and the veil arrived way before I thought it would!

If you like it and can afford it, go for it. My veil cost more than my dress! They can be expensive.

That sounds really expensive. I bought extra lace when I ordered my dress and had the seamstress see it on a cheap cathedral veil. Matches perfectly !!

Shop other bridal stores. I tried on a finger tip at one store with lace edging for 300, the store where i purchased by gown was about $100 and something and i got a few percent off. It really depends on the store and they have many veils that will match your dress. I am not a fan of looking online as i need to see it in person with the dress, but thats definitely an option.
