2Nd dress for reception?

Tonya, on July 15, 2022 at 5:58 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 16
Is anyone here buying a second dress for the reception? If so, what type are you going to get something basic or like a second wedding dress?

I purchased a second wedding dress. Largely due to the fact that it is the norm culturally and secondly I really wanted a dress that one made a grand entrance and another to dance in. Later in the evening I changed into a jumpsuit. It was well worth the expense.

I’m considering getting a jumpsuit, but honestly with all the money spent on the dress I highly doubt I get a second one. I’ll never wear the dress again so I want to get as much ‘worth’ out of it as I can lol

My goal is to stay in my wedding dress all night, but it is slightly poofier than I was hoping it would be. So I'm bringing the dress I'm wearing to my shower which is just a short white lace dress, and if I want to change I have the option without spending money on another dress.

I'm staying in my dress, no need to not wear what I paid for.

What a great way to get multiple uses out of your shower dress!

I do like the idea of a second dress both for practicality and to have a different look, but I just don't think I have the money (and if I did, I'd probably put it into some crazy floral display anyways lol).

My dress has this gorgeous train on it, and I'd love to just toss on another dress instead of bustling the first one. But the skirt on my dress is pretty manageable, so I figure just getting it bustled is a way more cost-effective move.

I think it's a great idea if your wedding dress is large or cumbersome. i didn't opt for one but if i did i would have gotten something short that's easier to move in

I wanted something that would flatter my figure but be comfortable enough to dance in and move around in. I also didn't want to have to leave the reception for a dress change. I really wanted to wear the dress all night; personally I never saw the point of changing. But, I recently went to my stepsister's wedding and after seeing her dress - which was gorgeous! - I totally understood the dress change thing. Just not for me personally.

I’m getting a reception dress, just not changing until after the first dance because I want to be in my gown for those pictures. I’ll get something easier to move in, not floor-length, but probably still bridal.

For me, I paid way too much for my wedding dress so I will we wearing it all night! But a jumpsuit sounds like a great idea! But its your wedding and you do what you want Smiley smile I'm sure you will look fabulous in whatever you decide to wear.

I like the idea. I would think of having an another outfit on standby for later during the reception. It certainly should be an option if the dress gets too much to wear that long. The guests won't care and our photographers will likely be gone by then.
