24 Person Bridal Party! (yes, we are THOSE people). How to arrange for ceremony?!

Hillary, on March 16, 2016 at 3:26 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 36

Yes, we have 12 Bridesmaids and 12 Groomsmen. I know, I know it's obnoxious but, what's done is done, hah.

Any suggestions on how to arrange all of them for the ceremony. I'd rather not do one long line in both directions but, we are set on having them all up there with us.Ceremony is at a big open outdoor garden space under some oak trees.

Should I rent a short stage and have two tiers of standing? Or is that tacky? Or should I arrange one row standing, one sitting? I feel like the sitting bridesmaids would not be happy :/

I'd love to see any pics of examples, if you have been to such a wedding. Thanks in advance!

Can you stagger them by height without the stage? Might seem like a strange idea, but I think the stage will lead to other issues. Are you and FH going to be on a stage?

I would just do one line and have it wrap around the sides by height. If you do two lines it will make it extremely difficult for the photographer to get pictures

We have 10 people each, so I feel your pain. I wouldn't tier, them, I'd just line them up in approximate height order behind you...you might not get the whole BP in your ceremony photos, but it is what it is.

One of the wedding videos we saw from our videographer had a BP of 26 people, and it was a ton of people but looked fine. As long as your photographer knows what they're doing, they should be able to arrange people nicely for posed photos.

One venue I went to was telling me about a large bridal party she had. She suggested staggering them by height as well. I have three BM and a MOH. Girl..that's a lot of people you have up there lol. I wouldn't have any friends in the crowd!

A quick Google search actually has a ton of photos...

PC, in that photo it looks as though the bride told all of her friends to wear BM dresses from previous weddings. Dresses are long, short, and every color!

At one wedding I officiated that had a large group (on the bride's side), we were on a wide stage. This is the wedding that started 45 minutes late just because of the logistics of such a large group. They were onsite, but with about 12 on her side (only 2 on his), it took forever.

At another, there was not enough room for the wedding party to stand beside the B&G in the pavilion, so they stood behind us. I felt as though I had back-up singers.

Oh my goodness that's lot haha.

@princess consuela - that is the first thing I though of when I read this.

I agree, I would just have them all line up according to height and wrap around the guests if need be.

You could have the bridesmaids and groomsmen sit in the front row and only have the Maid/Matron and Bestman stand .

Are there steps up front so you could do the 2 lines like you suggested with the stage idea?

If you have 12 close friends who are so near and dear to your heart that you want them by your side at your wedding day it's not obnoxious. I have 9 BMs and I find myself "apologizing" too when I tell people how many I have. People inevitably make a face and have some stupid comment like "oh, wow couldn't say no to some huh?" No I'm just blessed with 4 amazing sisters and 5 best friends. So anyways! I would just stand them all in a line honestly. It'll be long but I think anything else would look cheesy.
