2 Maids of Honor

JLD, on April 20, 2017 at 1:43 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 1 25

I am considering making my 2 best friends both maids of honor. Equally close with both of them and could see them working well together. Both are not married, so unfortunately can't do 1 maid and 1 matron of honor. There will be 5-6 additional bridesmaid in addition to these 2.

Has anyone done this before? Pros and cons of doing so?

Though I have not come across this in my personal life, I have seen a few other WW members have two MOH. I can't think of anything that would be wrong with it, few people will actually know the difference between a BM and MOH unless you're dressing them differently, so if you want to give them both the title it should be fine.

I am having two maids of honor. One is my best friend since age 11 and the other is my sister. They get along great (and were even roomies there for a bit) so everything has worked out well so far!

I plan on having a maid and matron of honor, when I posted about it everyone seemed to think having two is completely fine.

You are fine having 2 maids of honor. I would caution you to hold off asking for another couple of months because relationships change.

Pros - you don't have to pick between your two best friends for maid of honor?

    Cons - there are none!

You can do whatever you want Smiley smile

I'm having a "brother of honor" and a "cousin of honor" (who's a female) and three bridesmaids. So you can do whatever you want!

Do it! I have all four of my bridesmaids as equal bridesmaids (or I suppose I could call them all MOH) and it has been working beautifully!

I'm having 2 MOHs, my sister and my best friend. It was a tiny issue initially because they didn't really know each other. When it came time to start coming up with ideas for the bridal shower and bachelorette party, my best friend kind of went about things as if she was working alone, and not like her and my sister were a team. For example, my sister would come up with an idea and text my best friend about it, and instead of my best friend responding to my sister with her opinion, she would bring the idea to the rest of the bridesmaids as if it was her idea. Understandably, it really bothered my sister, but they talked about it and things have been great ever since. Turns out my best friend didn't even realize how her actions we coming off. They recently drove down to my house together (I'm in MD, they're in NY), and you would've thought that THEY were the best friends. So I'd just say, if they don't know each other that well, just check in here and there to make sure things are going smoothly. But if they do, everything should be fine. Either way, I say go for it.

I'm having a maid of honor and a matron of honor. As long as they get along and won't add stress to your big day I'd say go for it!

My FH is having two best men! His best friend and his brother. And it seems to be going pretty well with them planning his bachelor party and other small stuff they're planning on doing.
