2 Dresses or 1?

Mert F, on March 1, 2017 at 12:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 35

Anybody else thinking of getting 2 dresses?

(If I mention 2 dresses to FH I do get a bit of an eye roll, ha)

I'm thinking about just getting a short party type dress for the reception. Maybe a dress out of ModCloth's wedding attire. Not sure yet. I wonder if it would be a hassle to slip away after the post ceremony photos and try and change real quickly. Thoughts? Are any of you ladies changing into a different dress after the ceremony?

I plan on doing one dress. It's the only time in my life that I plan on wearing a wedding dress and like Jessica stated they are expensive. I plan on staying in my dress as long as I can. Also, I would not want to waste time changing into another dress when I can be out having fun with my husband and guests.

One dress all the way! I always kind of side eye the people who seem to think that their wedding requires a wardrobe change. It's like 4-8 hours total. You can wear one outfit.

I am doing one dress. But if I had enough money I would totally do two dresses. And not a more comfortable short dress, like a second wedding dress. I'd probably do a more classic lace (like I have now) for ceremony and something more blingy for the reception.

But that is just my dream world. I'm so in love with wedding dresses I'm sad I only get one. Lol for money purposes I'm sticking with one.

You can have your dress bustled after the ceremony. I'm team one dress also. It's only a few hours I get to wear an expensive wedding dress so there's no way in hell I'm changing out of it. I plan to sleep in it too if it's comfortable lol

I get the can I have fun in this dress all night concern. It really comes down to you, your dress, and how you feel. Some wedding dresses are totally party friendly while other weight 20 lbs and you can nearly walk (not so fun at 10pm). If it's in your budget to grab a reception dress go for it.

I had a bride change into a regular cotton summer dress half way through her reception because the beading on her dress was causing her arms to run raw (ouch) and that all she had with her.

So do what ever works for you!!!! Or see if you can alter your dress to make it a bit convertible so your comfortable all night.

    Good luck!!!

I have a ballgown already that I got from a boutique, but I'm strongly considering going the Amazon route and ordering a sexy fitted wedding gown to change into after the dinner and first dance. My original dress was one that my mom adored and I just couldn't say no.

One dress. No way I'm going to take off my expensive dress after only a half hour of wearing it for the ceremony.

One dress and wore it for almost 14 hours. I was ready to be out of it by then, but wouldn't have changed a second before.

I briefly considered 2 dresses, but I love the dress that I picked and it's not too heavy or too long to restrict dancing so I don't see the need for a second one.

One dress. I picked my dress because of how it looked and functionality. I did everything when I tried dresses on. I sat down, bent over, danced, lifted my arms up and saw how fast I would heat up too. My dress let's me sit and dance comfortably. Plus I don't have extra layers of fabric so I hopefully wont be sweating down there.

As fun as the idea of 2 dresses sounds, I wouldn't do it! I know a bride who had a second dress that she was supposed to change into halfway through the reception, but she obviously didn't want to leave her reception for 20 minutes to go change, so it never got used! And I know that it wasn't cheap either!

With all due respect, but one of the factors a bride should consider when purchasing her wedding dress is that it is comfortable enough to wear, dance, sit, pee, and run around all day and night. Changing into a 2nd dress is so stupid IMO. I love my dress so much I want to wear it all year round. You spend thousands of dollars on a wedding dress (which you've probably never spent on a dress in your life) and you want to change out of it after a short 30-45 min ceremony.

Nopee Im wearing mine straight through the day and the honeymoon too if I can lol. But of course this is a very personal choice. I realize the reception is a party but I still would rather look like the center of the party, and not like a guest in a white/ivory dress; which is what most brides look like when they change out of their wedding gown. Unless you are doing a Broadway performance/dance stay in your dress and enjoy it! No other day will it be acceptable to be out in it. Save that money for something else.

Ps: IMO most brides who change dresses are likely doing it for 1 of 2 reasons: (1) trying to show off their money (ooh here is another $3k dress- cool story bruh) OR (2) were really indecisive about their dress (if you don't love it enough to wear all day, don't buy it.)

I would just buy a dress that you can move in...: don't buy an overly tight mermaid or formed dress that you can't sit /dance/ and move in if that's your concern.

I would hate to only wear my wedding dress for an hour. You only get one day so use the hell out of a dress u love!
