1st fitting, question for those of you with a corset back dress ....

maliburedneck, on November 13, 2011 at 10:10 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So I bought my dress July of last year. It came in April of this year. I have now scheduled my first fitting for this Weds. I'm scared to death that it's not going to fit Smiley sad I have gained 12lbs due to quitting smoking in Sept. I'm working out religiously (6x a week for at least an hour of cardio a day) and have changed my eating habits but the scale is just not moving Smiley sad

For those of you who have the corset back dress, do you feel that it's more forgiving than a regular zip up back? I will be heartbroken if this dress doesn't fit.

Corset back gowns are definitely more forgiving than zip back dresses! Also almost every wedding gown has extra fabric in the side seams so if need be, the gown could be let out.

I concur with Christine... I've had many formal gowns required by my occupations and can say with out a doubt that corset backs are a lot more forgiving of changes in weight. Whether it is a small weight gain or a bit of a loss, the corset creates an almost instant alteration to the dress.

It is def. more forgiving... but don't forget you may be gaining muscle :-) Don't be upset if you don't see your numbers going down. Muscle weighs more than fat. Maybe you gained the same amount of muscle! But anyways I think you will be fine due to the corset back

Ah yes! It really is forgiving and more comfortable! I had the same worry last week with my fitting, but everything was fine.....except for my freaking tan line I can't get rid of. ugh!

It sure is! That's one of my must-haves for my dress. My wedding isn't until next year and I have already purchased the dress, so I needed something that would give me a bit of a "wiggle" room if need be (I'm hoping not).

I agree. It is definetly more forgiving.

I don't agree that it is more comfy though, especially if you are big busted and require a strapless corset undergarment. It is totally uncomfortable. If I could, I would have put a zip up in my dress.

I have a corset back and I think they are much more forgiving since they can be adjusted up to the moment before the wedding. The sales lady at the dress shop said that they can take the corset back up or down 2 dress sizes each way so that's pretty comforting to me =).

Thanks ladies! I'm hopeful for a no ugly tear moment when I go for my fitting this week. Now if I could just find the perfect shoes .... Smiley smile
