16 months to go, where should i be?

Jordan, on February 26, 2018 at 5:20 AM Posted in Planning 0 24

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum and I'd really like some insight into how you're all getting on!

We are getting married on the 15th July 2019, I do have a few things book (venue, ceremony, photographer, make-up, magician, dj) - my invites are included in my wedding package so I'm hoping to meet with the lady soon to talk designs and send out dates and I'm just about to put the deposit down for my hair.

My question is, where is everyone at, am I far behind? Ideally, what should my next job be? My brain is at a bit of a standstill! I've decided on the colors I'd like but have no idea what center pieces I want either!

Anyway, enough of my rambling!! Look forward to hearing your plans Smiley smile

You are so far ahead! Definitely do not send save the dates until 6-8 months before, and invites are 6-8 weeks before.

    Also.... magician? Kids party tricks.

Hey hun! So my date is June 30, 2019. I only have my venue booked so far, but I have met with photographer/videographer. I'm going to book them by June. I am going to meet with a florist soon, one out of the two I've been eyeing their work. I have come across a designer who I'm looking into make my Bridal party's dresses. I'm actually going to order a dress from her for an event coming up to make aure everything runs as smoothly as I'd like. Thats about it so far. I've looked into every vendor I want to use, but have not yet booked them as I feel I still have plenty time.

The magician is actually for the adults, he’s performed for a number of celebrities and also the royal family.

I never thought id be into something like that, but after meeting him at a wedding fair, he actually really entertained me and I was totally up for it.

There is always that lull period between the day and night time do, so he’ll be going around tables and entertaining my guests to keep the mood lifted.

Hi! I'm getting married June of next year.
It's never too early in my opinion. I have my venue, florist, cake, and DJ booked. I plan on booking photographer this week. If you know what you want and know it won't change in a year, go for it!

Catering would probably he the next thing to look into if your venue doesn't include food!

I haven't even started my Wedding is May 4th 2019 and u are far ahead of me. And my Fiance says we have a lot of months to plan. We don't need to plan right now. And I'm like yes we do. And I'm stressing and we have a budget. Of at least $1,000 mabe $2,000 No more. Sence we have to work and save up the money. I don't think we gonna have any help. And my Dad is not gonna help at all. I wish I was like u and at least had a venue. I've been up almost all night every single night looking and everything is just way to damn expensive. I want to get married in the park and have my reception in the park. I'm not even sure what else is there I need to plan I know I have lots to plan but it's very stressful.

We are getting married the week after yoiu and you're so far ahead! We have a venue, photographer, videographer, I have my dress, and we know what catering and dj we'll be using but our appointments with them aren't quite yet so I can't say they're booked. I also know my color scheme/theme and have most of our decorations picked out and only some purchased, I have also asked my half of the wedding party but FH has not asked his yet. You're doing fine!

Shoot I'm getting married in February of 2019 and we only have the officiant, church, and venue. Good for you being so far ahead!!! I'd wait on the invites and save the dates until they go on sale. Sales pop up all the time and will be your best friend. You have plenty of time before you even have to think about sending those out so may as well get a bargain Smiley smile

We are wedding date twins! I also only wanted to spend around $1500 on the whole wedding but I soon realized it's very difficult. It can be done as long as you're willing to be flexible. I personally think it's never too early to start planning. It's actually cheaper if you do it slowly over time because you can wait for deals. If you wait for the last minute things get pricy. We are having our ceremony and reception in our back yard, so our venue is free. My friend is getting ordained so we won't have to spend money on that. I got spotify on my phone and am working on making a playlist - press play and no need for an expensive dj. The food is being cooked for us by a friend so we just have to purchase the food, instead of paying for a caterer. The most expensive thing I have paid for is my ring and the photographer. Also, because I booked my photographer over a year in advance and told her I was on a tight budget, she dropped the price for me. In my experience it is far less stressful if you start planning well in advance.

Wow that’s amazing! Your wedding sounds truly wonderful.
I’m in the uk, so each hear vendors increase their prices slightly, sometimes by a few hundred pounds, but because I’ve booked a lot of my things last year, they’ll stay at the cheaper price!

We have to work and save up also. My partner actually took up a job working away because it brought us a bigger income. We done have a
massive amount saved so far, that’s why im trying to get this booked and pay a deposit on them so I can have an exact date and price for the future.
I hope all goes smoothly for you x

    Thanks for the reassurance!
My FH doesn’t know his wedding party yet either. Im slightly struggling with mine just due to not having a ton of friends, the people I count on most are part of my FHs family. It’s the maid of honour role I’m struggling to choose!

Thanks for the tips! Really appreciate that. I think because we booked the venue itself in March 2016, it feels like I’ve been doing nothing for quite some time ha!
