I literally have mosquito bites ALL over my arms and legs... my legs will be covered anyway so I don't care a lot about them. But my arms have been beat up all summer, as soon as one goes away at least one more pops up. The dermatologist can't see me until after the wedding. I itch in my sleep and without even realizing it during the day and they turn to scabs and look horrible. Over the counter meds don't help. What should I do? I don't want scabs all over my arms at my wedding. Urgent care is expensive as heck under my insurance. Do I need to suck it up and pay the bill? I don't have a general physician as I moved here recently. What are my options?

@Jennifer T. I'm so sorry! Must have missed while scrolling!

ETA: That is quite the list! I will admit, this is beyond my education past OTCs, but I saw you mentioned you will be going into urgent care, and I will keep my fingers crossed that they can do something or get you referred. Bring that medication list with you so they will take your situation very seriously. Smiley smile

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

If the bites are still prevalent or itchy I use a Benadryl gel that is applied to the bites. It helps with swelling, redness as well as itchiness.

ETA. Sorry just read your list post. Hope you find something!

Don't scratch them and they won't be scabs... use Benadryl cream to get rid of the itch

Sorry to hear about the bites. I am a mosquito magnet and totally understand.

Have you tried After Bite? It is a product if applied right after you are bitten will take the swelling and itch away in about 24 hours. No ongoing welt and continual itching!

Use bug repellant, and light citronella candles. And really try not to scratch, just rub and tap so you won't mark your skin. If you still have some the day of use some makeup to cover it up.

I totally understand, I am a mosquito magnet! There is a Benadryl "pen" that helps with itching. I've also used apple cider vinegar on my bites. Mine get crazy swollen and scab over too so I know how you feel, it's so ugly.

For preventative care, I swear by Avon Skin so Soft bug repellent. It is the ONLY thing that works for me, not even dousing myself in deet helped. I found Avon SSS a few summers ago and I've used it ever since!

100% Deet, none of that hippy natural stuff, it doesn't work if you're like me and have blood that's like crack for mosquitos. You can get at sporting goods stores like Dicks. Also take some benadryl and put some hydrocortisone cream on it. Caladryl to stop yourself from itching.

UPDATE: I went to urgent care and got two prescriptions, one for a pill and one being a medicated cream.

Lavender essential oil works wonders for me. Like Elizabeth, I've been extremely susceptible to mosquito bites my entire life. Natural remedies can work.

Get the banana peel and the inside part. Press it on the bites. I know sounds weird BUT it works.
