16 days left!!! What am i forgetting?

Kathryn, on June 1, 2022 at 2:47 PM Posted in Planning 6 15

We've already done the big stuff of course (venue, DJ, catering, photography) but there's so many little details to keep track of now that we are coming down to the wire!

Here are the details we have done so far:

-DJ song requests

-bridesmaid and bride bouquets

-mom and dad gifts

-bridal party gifts

-centerpieces

-rentals for lights, tables, chairs, glassware

-flowers for ceremony arch

-marriage license (getting it tomorrow)

-guestbook

-dress alterations

Is there anything glaringly obvious that I might be forgetting?? Thanks and good luck to any of you also in the same boat!!

Does your catering include dessert (cake, cupcakes)? I would also check to see if your venue or caterer has a cake knife if you're getting a cake for the cake cutting. Other things you might need to get: table numbers, seating chart, signs for things, pen for guestbook, card box, favors for guests, boutonnieres/corsages, and a flower girl basket/flower petals. Also, did you give your DJ your ceremony music, entrance song for you/your FH and bridal party, first dance song, last dance song if you're particular like me, and songs for your father/daughter and mother/son dances? Do you have a day of timeline? Hope this helps!

The only other things I can think of are:

Confirming a timeline with your vendors and venue?

Putting together a list of family photos that you want the photographer to capture?

If you bought new shoes, maybe wearing them around for a little bit to break them in?

    Hair/makeup trial?

    Final payments to vendors?

Setting aside tip money (if you're planning to tip vendors the day of your wedding)?

Bring a sewing kit with you. I did and thank goodness I did because one of my buttons wouldn’t button so my bridesmaid sewed the loop on haha

Thanks y'all! I'm adding sewing kit and flower girl basket to my list!

I have those other things y'all mentioned on my to-do list, and we have a finalized timeline and finalized songs for the DJ for the ceremony as well as reception and special dances.

One big piece of advice that we've gotten is practice how you want to do your first kiss (recommend videoing them to make sure it looks good on camera) and practice your first dance (in shoes similar to your wedding ones and a dress similar length/weight to yours).

All of the above sound good. Perhaps book your haircut, nails, and any facial treatments to be done days in advance. Have your jewelry including rings cleaned by the jeweler. Detail the car and get it checked (if using). Purchase home COVID tests for yourself and any loved ones. Test twice with 48 hour separation. For any bigger (optional) projects: ceremony programs and gift bags for out of town guests? And don't forget to take at least 1 day with your spouse focused on fun and each other (not wedding). That's what I worked on myself. Best wishes~!

If you want detail photos from your photographer, bring a few copies of your wedding invitations (so they can get the front and back)! I would also suggest a nice ring box for your ring photos if you'd like!

We just got married a week and a half ago and I will offer this up as something to not forget: Appoint some one to keep track of the wedding bands. We didn’t, and in the chaos of getting everything out of my hotel room (I wasn’t staying there after the wedding so I had to check out at noon) after the photographer was done shooting the details photos with our rings and invitations, I failed to make sure the wedding bands got into someone else’s hands and forgot them. Thank goodness my aunt and uncle were staying at the same hotel and saved the day by bringing over our wedding bands to the church as they arrived! 😂😂😂

About the covid tests ... make sure you find a test process that tends to show negatives. I saw reviews of a test center that was getting bunches of positives where people had another test (with a slower response) that showed negative.

I would like to add that the most important thing is to make sure that you take a decent hour yourself between getting ready just to meditate on the day and get into a Bridal frame of mind.

So important to do. I purposely asked people to give me a private moment after I was dressed. I just sat in silence and reflected on our journey. It helped calm the nerves.

It still bothers me that I didn't remember to bring an extra invitation with me for my photographer to include in my bridal detail photos. I was also supposed to ask the florist to include a few loose blooms for the same reason - forgot that too.

I would also make sure you have some sort of emergency bag with hair tools that you can stash in a bathroom for pre-ceremony touch-ups, especially if you're doing photos outside before the ceremony. RIP to my hairstyle, that is my #1 biggest wedding regret.
