Hi Everyone!

I am newly engaged in the Tampa Bay (Florida) area and have never been a planner when it comes to things like a wedding! Very overwhelmed to say the least, but we are having difficulty knowing if $15k is going to be, realistically, enough for a guest list of 100 - 150. We are torn between cutting our guest list down to have a great venue/caterer, or settling on a venue/caterer to have everyone we want be able to come! There has to be a happy medium somewhere?! Any advice will be SO much appreciated! I wish I loved the "barnyard" look as much as most Floridians do, but I just am not thrilled about it. Looking for more modern/ country club style (I think).

Thanks again in advance!!

We're spending a little under 12K for 125 in St Petersburg Smiley smile The all inclusive venues are expensive, but the Sirata in Clearwater Beach quoted me 12K for catering/alcohol/venue rental if you want that type of thing. I'd suggest looking at alternative venues like the Morgan Art Center or Clearwater Botanical Garden. Those are favorites of my photographer and they're extremely affordable. Also check out Tampa Garden Club, they were very affordable but not available on my date. I'm using the St Pete Womens Club and they charged $1,600 for the day at the venue, tables, and chairs and they allow you to bring in your own alcohol. I'm also using Affordable Catering and they're only charging 4K for cocktail hour with three apps, and then dinner with two entrees and three sides. You may not know this, but in Florida you can have a notary public perform the ceremony so that can cut officiant fees down to the $15 fee notary fee.

Here in South Florida our budget is $16k for 90 guests. No including my dress. Nothing fancy, Bringing our own liquor and a lot of DIY deco and flowers. So it depends on what you really want. There are cheaper options but you'll have to cut some corners if you want 150 guests. These are some of my basic expenses (which are average in FL)

    Venue $2500

    DJ $850

    video and pics $3400

    Officiant $300

    DOC $500

    Adult meals $60

    Kids meals $25

    Cake $5-6 per person...

This really depends on what you want at your wedding. With my current plans, I could do 100 guests in New Orleans (where I am getting married) on 15K no problem. I suggest looking at venues to get an idea of prices, then you can start thinking about whether or how much you would need to trim your guest list. You might look at different kinds of venues as well, museums, bed and breakfasts, etc.

    Congratulations!

I don't know about Florida costs, but I will say don't forget to factor in photographer, cake (if you want), videographer (if you want), dress, and decor. So really the 15K is not just going towards your guests only.

Here's my total breakdown in case you're curious. I'm a very crafty person and am talented enough to flirt with going totally professional with some of my work. I designed the paper goods and printed them so I couldn't exactly place a price tag on that. I'm also creating all the decorations myself so I bought eucalyptus, electric candles, mercury glass candle holders, and the like wholesale. It would've been easy to cut costs but cutting the photographer time in half or going down a package on the catering so I have to disagree with the common sentiment here that you need to cut your guest list first. I could've also cut out the cake cost almost completely by going with a Publix sheet cake, but this was a gift from my parents.

    Venue: $1,600

    Additional rentals: $250

    My attire: $1,300

    Husbands attire: $0, military uniform

    Catering: $4,000

    Drinks: $500

    Photographer: $1,800

    DJ: $900

    Decorations: $300

    Florist: $1,000

    Bridal party gifts: $150

    Cake: $700

    Bartender: $250

My budget is just over $15k for 150 guests, but I'm in Texas so prices may vary. I paid $2300 for bare bones venue (only includes tables and chairs), am doing $20/pp BBQ catering (BBQ good was actually FH's one request, so I lucked out on that price wise), and a modified open bar where we're providing the alcohol and a paid bartender. The cake is being paid for by my god parents, so we're lucking out there.

Found my dress on Facebook for $200. All my linens and decor are coming in under $1,000 from shopping sales and wedding resale. I got my STDs on Groupon for $25 and will do something similar for the wedding invitations. Minimal flowers. My two non-hosting splurges have been booking a fabulous HMUA and having a wedding party of five on each side, which (I lied, he had another one) was FH's other request. So I've got about $1,000 budgeted for gifts for them.

So, yeah, it's possible. Make sure that feeding and providing adult beverages is at the top of your budget and make your guest list fit what you can afford there.

I live in upstate ny and will be getting married in march. We will wind up spending a total if 3500 for our wedding. . so when you say 15k its totally do able. Sit down with fh and make a list of the things you want for your day. Location type etc. Then number that list in a priority number line. . 1 being absolute have to have etc. For example cake we all love it right and want one at our wedding but ugh so pricey. . so look at options a cake for u and fh to cut and eat and cup cakes for rest. By doing this you really can save our small cake was 35 and 50 cents each. . For our 150 guests we spent total 135 for cake. If you would like more help or suggestions feel free to email me ********@*******.***

It all depends on you, I planned my wedding in Florida for 120 guest with 10k! It involved some sacrifice but looking back I didn't lose anything I missed.

I think it depends on your venue/area tbh. In Wilkes-Barre, PA I am able to host up to 150 people for about 18k (not counting the honeymoon), and that is with a full open bar, food, cake, decor, & entertainment. If we wanted to cut back we could scale back our food, we could host more folks, but we chose not to, but its about 30$ different pp depending on the food we eat. Bar and flowers are still included no matter what food option we chose. I told FH to cut the guest list

@AC I am curious to know where you are getting married?

We spent close to 30k for 106 guests in South Florida. Granted we went for a "higher end" venue but when we first started looking everything was super expensive. Tampa may be a little better but honesltly cutting your guest list is the best thing you can do. I am helping my friend look for her currently and her guest list is at 190. I told her there was no way you can properly host for what they are hoping to spend.

Also in Tampa Bay area. That many people with that budget is probably doable, but it'll take a LOT of work to host that many people properly. I'd definitely consider cutting the guest list down a bit if possible. Otherwise, be prepared to do lots of research and really put in the time in order to make it all work!

Our wedding will be about $15,000 and we have 91 guests in NJ. It's honestly a very tight budget and took a lot of searching for quality vendors at affordable prices. I couldn't imagine being able to pull that off with 150 guests because it's very close with the 91 I have.

I would just keep looking at venues to see if they have an attached catering option. Our chapel came with a caterer that's only $13 a plate. That's a meat, 2 salads, vegetable side, and bread sticks.

I'm having around 130 people coming and it's an Oklahoma wedding. My budget is $15k.

I live in NJ and my budget is 15k... we wanted 50 people but the venue said they would do 75,.. our list is 95 people lol... i say try to cut down the list a little and if that doesn't work because they are all MUST have people... then find a venue that's not traditional.. that's what i did.. i am doing it in a restaurant that had breath taking grounds but nothing fancy inside so i am dressing it up and doing a rustic chic theme... if you need any help let me know!!! Also, check your local fb page... i know that's how i found my venue... i went to my towns fb page for parents and mentioned i had a small budget and i had so many recommendations... some amazing places that were $50 a plate and were super fancy and some a little over $80 a plate as well... oh also check places like rooftops ect.. hope this helps fell free to message me i can help you out as much as i can 8)

Mrs.Gilberti, does the venue hold 95 people??

Personally OP, I'd rather cut the guest list down to properly host my guests. I wouldn't want to cut corners and settle on food, then have guests talking about the food being subpar.
