Dedicated June 2015

108 degrees?!?

A., on June 23, 2015 at 9:08 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 21

We are having a destination wedding on Sunday and I just started checking weather forecasts. I didn't want to stress about rain or anything like that. I have checked 3 different forecasts and they all say pretty much the same thing. 100 to 108 degrees! My FH is going to be wearing a wool suit and I'm going to be in multiple layers with the dress, petticoats, corset, etc. Now I'm starting to freak out. I'm thinking about getting fans for the guests, but can't find them anywhere! Any suggestions? I would order them online, but I leave in 2 days!

And how do I ensure FH and I don't die of heat stroke at our outside ceremony?

Where are you getting married? You may have to move it inside or make your ceremony about 5-10 minutes. That is really hot and a fan isn't going to cool people down much. I would be worried about someone passing out.

Why would you have your FH in a wool suit?!

Call your venue and see if you can move it inside.

108!!!! No way move it inside. On another note I made program fans for our wedding. Designed the program and printed on cardstock at office max. Added a stick and ribbon from Michaels.

If its 108 degrees you have two options. Option one, rent a tent and cool it. Option two, move your ceremony inside.

Call the venue and discuss with them the back up plan.

108 degrees is miserable with humidity or not. Is inside an option?

Inside. As a guest, I would not sit outside in 108 degree weather. I live in Houston, where it's in the 100s in August. It's miserable. It's dangerous.

Ask to either move it inside or MAYBE move the time to 8-9pm and have lots of fans.

For real though, why is your FH wearing a wool suit for an outdoor, summer, DW??

TBH, I'd rather wear wool than polyester, even in the summer. Natural fibers breathe.

It looks like your ceremony is in Washington from your profile, is that right? Yesterday some brides were talking about PNW weather being neither humid nor too dry and refreshingly breezy, basically magical. I haven't experienced this unicorn weather so I admit I am skeptical, but if you tell us where your destination wedding is, maybe we can give you more advice or reassurance rather than 1. Move the ceremony inside or make it 5 minutes long 2. Have fans, ice, water, water misting

Jacqui- I think she is from Washington, but they are having a DW...she says they leave in 2 days. It just seems silly to me to have your groom in a wool suit at any DW I guess, it's a heavy fabric...polyester isn't a great option either but there are other options besides those two.

I live in Portland and yes it will be over 100 degrees this weekend....do not have your guests out in this heat. Do you have an indoor option? How long is your ceremony?

Too late now, but it seems crazy to wear a petticoat and a wool suit in A LOT of places at the end of June! I'd try to move it inside if at all possible. If you can't, shorten the ceremony and give out lots of ice water.

Yeah I think it depends where you are. I wear wool year round, but I also knit so I choose fine, soft wool. I wouldn't make my FH or any dude wear a wool suit in the summer unless it was that or a heavy synthetic.

It sounds like you didn't think this through very much... Putting that aside, I know that you're extremely busy but I recommend finding some inexpensive, pretty paper and making fans in the event you're not able to move the ceremony indoors. I feel bad for your guests, I would not sit outside in that kind of weather. It's dangerous.

WTH is your groom wearing a wool suit in June??? This whole thing does not sound planned out at all. Party supply stores should have fans, or Google how to make your own out of cardstock. Bless.

Joanns/Michaels both have fans for pretty cheap.

The only suit he liked the cut, color, and feel of happens to only come in wool. He is not worried about the heat, I'm just worrying for him. The wedding is in Leavenworth, WA. Weather the last couple of years was mid 70s or 80s, so we didn't expect 100+ degrees! Luckily it is looking like it might be partly cloudy, so hopefully cooler. The ceremony is only about 15-20 minutes long.

Move it inside or move the time back so its closer to sunset when it could be cooler. Have umbrellas and fans for your guests. I would also suggest misters if its over 100.
