$100 travel fee??

Regina, on September 6, 2013 at 11:59 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

So I've been looking into hair and makeup for me and my bridal party and want your opinion if I should go with this person. She seems the most reasonable in price because she includes the consultation/trial with the bridal hair and makeup(airbrush) price of $135. Hair and makeup for bridesmaids is $85 for both or $55 for hair hair. The only issue is that she lives 100 miles from my venue and charges for travel over 50 miles. It would be just about $100 for her travel. I figured since I dont have to pay for a separate trial that this is fine. The reason I'm hesitant is because my stepdaughter is in the wedding so ill be paying a lot for this service and want to make sure I'm choosing the most economical option without sacrificing quality. I like this person's work a lot so I'm thinking its worth it. What do you think?

Oh one other reason I'm thinking a lot about it because she has a 10 service minimum to travel that far so with me and my step-daughter getting both services and my other bridesmaids getting 1 or 2, I have exactly 10 and I'm a little worried that one or two of then will change their minds about getting their makeup done...

You may want to look into just going to a nearby salon for hair and makeup. I really wanted to use a traveling company but it would have put my costs around a grand for me, two bm (2 makeup and 1 hair) and my mom. With the salon nearby it'll only cost around 500.

I had to pay a travel fee for my MUA, and I think it was about the same. My venue was a bit off the beaten path so unless I only found people located near this tiny mountain town, I knew that travel would be a thing for most of my vendors.

I think those prices seem close to what I found, and I thought mine was a decent deal. $250 for hair/make-up/air-brush/false lashes/trial for both, and BM hair and make-up for $80 or $45 for one.

For a MUA who specialized in weddings, vs a local salon, I thought those prices were good and the travel fee made sense to me.

Regina, maybe if you are short a head of hair or a face, you can drag in MOG & MOB?

For 10 people I don't think this sounds so bad. if you really like her work, I would go with it.

I know a woman that had to be late to the church because she cashed in a gift certificate a friend gave her, and between the heavy makeup and the green that was put on her face, she said she looked like a dead hooker! lol

made for a good story though!

seriously, if you like her work, then I think it's worth it. better to spend 100 on something you like than waste money on something you don't like.

Oh! This is the girl I recommended to you! I think you will be fine getting to 10. I have 9, and she said she would do it since it's a Friday wedding. I am still waiting on one girl to make up her mind, so I will probably have 10. I haven't booked her yet, but I have the form sitting on my desk. Let me know if you decide to book her! I think she has a team of artists too for timing.
