Dedicated September 2021

08.08.2020

My fiance and I choose this date in early August of 2018 when we first got engaged. We knew we wanted to get married in August of 2020, and this second Saturday of the month worked best for our schedules. We had no pull towards this date for the double numbers, but it is pretty neat!

I Googled our date for fun tonight and found the following. I thought it would be something fun for others sharing our date!

"August 8, 2020: In the Chinese culture the number 8 symbolizes success and prosperity so seeing that this day is 8-8-2020, a double 8 is extremely lucky for a couple’s first day as husband and wife!"

Pretty awesome date! I love what the numbers symbolize. Smiley heart Originally, we considered dates that were easy to remember either due to number repetitions, but later decided it would be neat to marry on the anniversary of when we first met (Sept 27). What's cool about our date is that it's our 7th anniversary and 7 has always been one of my two lucky numbers!

I love even numbers, and when we first started dating in 2019, I noticed a lot of 2020 patterns. 4/4/20, 6/6/20, 8/8/20, 10/10/20, and 12/12/20 all fall in a Saturday. My cousin already has 10/10/20 for her wedding so I debated between 8/8 and 6/6. By the time of my engagement, it made the most sense to wait until next August. My wedding shower will be 6/6 and we were able to find all of our venues quickly!

p.s my dad asked if we picked 8/8 because his football number was 88 lol

My wedding date is 04/04/20! But we didn't pick it because of the double numbers. We started dating April 5th 2016, got engaged April 23 2018,and getting married next year.

We wanted double numbers no matter what because his birthday is 10/10, and mine is 11/11. It just really works out that 8/8/2020 was a Saturday!!

My family follows Asian culture so I chose 8/8 for that reason. In addition to eight being a lucky number, it also resembles the shape of the infinity sign signifying a union that will last forever. Smiley heart

We chose Thai date because I am going through nursing school and this would be a good time on my summer break and before I graduate. That way I wouldn’t have to go back and change my name on everything. He didn’t really care what date so this just works out perfect.

There really isn’t anything significant about the date we chose, at least initially. Originally we were going to get married in September and I have a daughter still in school and started thinking about the difficulties and logistics of her starting off the school year and transportation and who she would stay with and it seemed like more hassle than it was worth! We sat down and chose 8/8/20 and it actually turned out to be my fiancé’s parents original date! We figured it was meant to be! 💕

When we first got engaged, we were discussing potential dates that we could choose from and the only dates that stood out to me were double dates. So as I went through the calendar, I came across 02/02/20 but it seemed to soon for us. So we kept scrolling and came across 08/08/20. It seemed right and coincidentally, he’s born on 01/08 and I’m born on 11/08 and we’re both part Chinese; which is defined as 8 being a lucky number in China. Thus, our date was fitting for us.

The running joke with my family right now is "He better not forget your anniversary!" It's definitely easy to remember!
