I'd like to do my own invites. How do I start? Are there any good free programs or how did y'all do it?

For those of you that paid for your own wedding; how long did it take to save? How much did you end up spending total?

I'm trying to find sites with good prices for artificial flowers. I want to do my own bouquets and centrepieces and all that. Does anybody have a site that they liked to buy their artifical flowers from that was cost effective as well?
