I like the symmetry of one band on either side of my engagement ring but I don't care for making the band wider as it can make the center stone appear smaller. What is everyone doing?

I've tried on gowns with thick straps and lace that would cover my back and some with sleeves, but I feel like they made my chubby arms even chubbier looking. I just want to know if others think sleeves draw more negative attention to the arms rather...
