I am an Oct bride and Im noy sure when to send save the dates or even if i have to send them i was thinking if sending them in mid March is that too soon?

Im getting married Oct 2018 and I haven't gone dress shopping yet. I planned on going march 17th to give myself some extra time to lose some weight before I start to trying on dresses but everyone is telling me I am crazy. Should I go sooner?
