What are everyone’s opinions on lab grown diamonds vs natural mined diamonds? Does anyone have a lab grown diamond? I personally am considering asking my SO to get me an engagement ring with a lab grown diamond instead since they are so much cheaper...

So I actually have not yet proposed but am looking at rings and I really don't want to invest in a diamond ring. To me that's more money to put towards our future, but do I look cheap if I get a white sapphire??? Maybe another colored stone?
