A vision, a ballroom, a hero, and a dream come true
Originally, I signed my reception contract with Classic Events of Buffalo for The Hotel at the Lafayette. Midway through the planning process, I was informed that they would no longer be managing the venue and was essentially told, "Sorry, we no longer manage that location. Best of luck." As you can imagine, I was completely devastated and panicked about what this meant for all of our plans.
Thankfully, Tappo Venues stepped in and completely turned the situation around. Not only did they honor the terms of my original contract, but they accommodated everything I had envisioned for our wedding. From the very beginning, they reassured me, eased my concerns, and made me feel confident that everything would work out.
The true star of the experience, however, was our coordinator, Alexa Graff. After the uncertainty and stress of the transition, Alexa became the reason I could actually enjoy planning my wedding again. She took my vision and brought it to life better than I could have imagined. She was incredibly responsive, detail-oriented, organized, and proactive throughout the entire process. Whenever I had a question, concern, or random wedding thought, she was there with an answer. If something was unclear, she made sure to confirm every detail rather than make assumptions, which gave me so much peace of mind.
What impressed me most was how genuinely invested she was in making our day special. I never felt like just another wedding on her calendar. She made me feel heard, supported, and confident every step of the way. I am a very Type A person and extremely particular when it comes to details, so trusting someone else to execute my vision was not something that came naturally to me. But Alexa earned that trust completely. By the time the wedding day arrived, I felt comfortable letting go, being present, and enjoying the day because I knew she had everything handled.
And she absolutely delivered. The entire day was flawless. Every detail was executed perfectly, everything ran smoothly, and the vision I had spent months planning came together beautifully. I truly did not have to worry about a thing because Alexa had everything under control.
Looking back, what started as one of the most stressful moments of my wedding planning journey ended up becoming one of the best experiences because of Alexa and the Tappo team. If you're considering The Hotel at the Lafayette (or any Tappo Venue location) and have the opportunity to work with Alexa Graff, consider yourself lucky. She is an absolute gem and played a huge role in making our wedding day everything we dreamed of and more. -

Marquis ballroom
12/10 recommend
I recently got married at hotel Lafayette on 1/24/26 with Alexa Graff our coordinator and I cannot recommend this venue enough.
First, alexa was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! I texted her nearly every single day for a whole year with any questions that I had. She was on top of all the timelines and the venue also offered a lot of decor if I wanted to use any (I did). I had absolutely no concerns going into the wedding. I received ENDLESS amount of compliments about how she did an incredible job. She made my day so much easier, and made sure the day went smoothly (AND IT DID, best day ever)🤍 -

June 2024 Wedding
Our experience with the Hotel Lafayette. was truly amazing; every detail was meticulously handled to perfection. From the moment we contacted them, the team was incredibly responsive and accommodating, ensuring that our vision was brought to life seamlessly.
After originally planning the location and wedding the hotel was going through a change in management companies. I was quite concerned about keeping the date and rooms with a new management company. The manager Nicole however, was incredible! She managed the sale seamlessly and stayed in constant contact with me to let me know how things were progressing and that there were no issues. She helped me book several specific rooms and accommodated several special requests; she and her staff were very professional and kind, and we highly recommend this hotel.
All of our guests that stayed at the wedding commented on how great the hotel and the rooms were. There is a lot of character in this hotel, and it is a beautiful boutique hotel in a great location near downtown Buffalo, and walking distance to many great attractions and locations. When booking at a boutique hotel you sometimes are concerned about the amenities and room sizes. This is not an issue at the Lafayette, the rooms (including standard rooms for guests) were all great sizes, and were very well maintained and cleaned. The bridal suite is especially great, big enough for hair and makeup to be done, and includes a balcony overlooking Lafayette square, which is a great touch. The Marquis room where we held the ceremony and reception was great! It has amazing architecture and we had to do very little in terms of decorations. Some good lighting and centerpieces are more than enough to make this room come to life and be gorgeous. We had about 115 guests, and there was way more than enough room in the Marquis, plenty of space for dance floor, social booth, and audio booth in the room. We highly recommend this location for your ceremony and reception.
Reflecting on our wedding day, we can't help but feel grateful for the dedication and hard work of Nicole and the Hotel Lafayette staff. They played a significant role in making our dream wedding a reality, and for that, we are thankful. To future couples looking for a great location, we highly recommend considering the Marquis Ballroom at the Hotel Lafayette. for a truly enchanting experience.

Very accommodating when we wanted to meet up to go over room set up or show my daughter's new in-laws the room when they came into town. The day of staff was fantastic. They had the room set up exactly as we had wanted. It was perfect! I had many guest telling me how great the staff was. The head bartender was fantastic..making great drinks all night long. The food was delicious! The venue is absolutely beautiful and the staff made the night perfect. I really can't say enough about the whole experience. It was perfect! -

Amazing experience and food!
Wow!!!! We had an amazing experience at The Greenhouse Room with Pearl Street. We worked with Stephanie, and she is an absolutely saint. She answered ALL of my emails, ALL OF THEM, within 24 hours. She was so thorough and never missed a beat. The food was fantastic - best bang for your buck. Day of banquet coordinator Morgan was so helpful. The venue atmosphere was MAGICAL. We had the best day ever. I cannot say enough great things about this venue! -

Amazing experience!
My wedding was held in the Crystal Ballroom (the smaller of the two ballrooms run by Marquis De Lafayatte). Ali and her team did an amazing job making my wedding a perfect experience! The food was delicious, the staff was great, and I can't think of one thing to complain about. Ali was responsive to every email I sent prior to the wedding and was always helpful. Everyone had a great time and I felt supported every step of the way. -

Stephanie and Charlie from the Pearl Street Catering team are a dream to work with. We had initially conversations with a few different venues in the beginning, but ultimately chose the Greenhouse Room because of their support and responsiveness. We were planning an out of town wedding and knew that not being local was going to be a challenge, but with this team of organized wedding specialists it never felt that way. They are seasoned pros and are so on top of what is needed to make every brides day a dream based on their taste and preference. Everything was better than we could have ever dreamed, and my family, who works in catering and rarely has anything nice to say, has not stopped raving about the food and service. Thank you...thank you...thank you.-

I could not rave more about Charlie, Amy, and the rest of the team at Lafayette. From booking to packing up our stuff at the end of the night, it could not have been a better experience.
I am a wedding vendor myself, so we were very careful when picking a venue for our own wedding day. Charlie and the team were incredible from day one. They worked with us to customize a menu that was perfect for buffalo, and not at all "wedding food", and did not blink an eye at the strange questions via email, nor at the bins of stuff we dropped off for our DIY wedding. He was nothing but helpful, kind, and accommodating. Even when there was an issue with another day of vendor, Charlie handled it with grace.
And oh my goodness day of, he was an angel. He wrangled our family and friends into place for the rehearsal, and the entire wedding day went off without the slightest hitch. They set up the room beautifully, it was better than I could have imagined. Guests could not stop raving about how delicious the food was, how great the bartending staff was, and how kind the entire team was. Amy bopped in and out to us the entire night to make sure we were taken care of.
Hotel Lafayette was one of the best choices we made throughout the planning process. I would choose them again and again, and wish there was a way to give more than a 5 star rating. Thank you all!! -

We had our ceremony in the courtyard and our reception in the connected courtyard room. The food, service, and staff were great! It was the perfect size room for our 130 person wedding and kept it intimate and cozy. Highly recommend. -

We had the most amazing experience with the Hotel Lafayette! They took care of absolutely everything for us, and our guests raved about the venue the whole evening. They handled centerpieces, decor, worked with us to allow my dad's homemade wine to be on the tables for the toasts, and so much more. Everyone was extremely responsive the entire planning process, we had the most beautiful, magical night. We are so glad we picked the Hotel Lafayette Greenhouse Room! -

This was the best decision we ever made!! We booked the Greenhouse Room at the Lafayette Hotel which is run by Pearl Street for our January winter wedding. Stephanie was an awesome coordinator to work with in the months leading up to the reception, ensuring our contract was perfect down to the detail of what we wanted and our room would have the right vibe with their already generous stock of decorations available. We really didn't have to worry about anything. They talked with our vendors too and set up all the decor that we provided several days beforehand too... no need to run around trying to put centerpieces together, they did it for us, and had all the linens and tables set up beautifully at no extra charge. My guests completely freaked out (in the best way!) when they saw the room decorated as it was, which was 99% all of Pearl Street's decor - the ambiance, the strung lights, the rustic touches really blew people away and they couldn't stop talking about it and taking pictures. From the start of our reception, our catering captain Morgan absolutely rocked it. She came up to us to introduce herself and let us know she'd take care of anything we needed. She brought me a glass of wine that I wanted, she was able to fit an extra chair in at a table last minute, and even led my new husband and I with another staffer through the food stations so we wouldn't get anything on our wedding attire. The food was awesome - we had guests go back for seconds. At the end of the night, she packaged up leftovers for us to thoroughly enjoy later, and even set out little to-go boxes for our guests to take cake slices. Anything we had leftover in the reception we helped them package up and they had one of the staffers put it on a luggage cart and bring it up to our room which was fabulous and helpful. The serving staff, the bar tenders, the carving station attendants - all of them - such a class act and on point. Best. Decision. Ever. -

Venue books up very quickly, make sure you contact them as soon as you are interested in securing a date! The staff was fantastic to work with from start to finish. They were very thorough, the decor meeting and the meeting the week of the wedding were the best. I felt very confident handing off everything to Charlie and Mike, they made the room look beautiful and added some extra touches that fit with the theme that I didn't know were options! All of the guests raved about the food quality and portions, and the outside Courtyard room was a big hit. -

My husband is from out of town, so we knew that more than half of our guests would be from out of town, and we really wanted to have the wedding in an area that showcased a pretty part of downtown that was at or near hotels. I LOVED the art deco style of the Lafayette Hotel, and the team we worked with were incredible!
First of all, Kristina and Lindsey were so wonderful and easy to work with! They were very responsive with questions and worked with us on everything we wanted. We could not have asked for more accommodating and amazing team to help us plan our reception. My husband ruptured his Achilles' tendon a few weeks before the big day, and Kristina even had a foot stool waiting for him at our dinner table (Thank you!!!). It was so thoughtful and so above and beyond!!!
Second, our wedding was over 7 months ago and people are STILL raving about the pot roast! The food was incredible, and as a courtesy to our guests, they provided to-go boxes for anyone that couldn't finish their dinners!
Third- we never worried about wedding crashers or running out of anything. From the minute we arrived at the Courtyard Room until we shut it down at midnight, every person on the staff was helpful and we didn't worry about a thing! I cannot recommend them enough! I wish we could go back and do it again!!!
PS- We had our rehearsal dinner at the Webb- which was also perfect! I cannot say enough great things about Pearl St Catering! -

Wow - where do I begin? My husband, Jorgen, and I, had very specific requirements for our reception venue. Having made many memories throughout our relationship in and around downtown Buffalo, whether at Sabres games or summer concerts, we knew our reception venue HAD to be downtown. We both have a very specific taste and style, and after seeing the Greenhouse room, we were immediately in love. This room is spacious, yet cozy, and rustic, but still classic. The beautiful windows and exposed brick are such beautiful elements. Even the exterior of the hotel and lobby leave you with feelings of 1920's glamour and grandeur.
Lindsey Ziccardi is the most organized and accommodating event planner. Having a very particular vision for the room's overall aesthetic, she brought my dream to life. Our manager on duty, Kasey, is an impressive hospitality professional. She made certain everyone's plated meal was in front of them in probably less than 10 minutes.
Our guests raved about the filet mignon, chicken and fish. Everything was hot, deliciously seasoned and perfectly cooked. I've never been a fan of banquet food, but this meal blew me away. The entire package we purchased was executed to perfection from our crudites display to our passed hors d'oeuvres and our late-night snacks of pizza, wings and beef on weck.
Even the bartenders turned out quality drinks all night in an efficient manner. Being in the foodservice industry, my expectations are unusually high. I am so grateful that the Greenhouse room at Hotel Lafayette lived up to its reputation for being the "it" venue in town. Our reception couldn't have been any more seamless - such a perfect night to remember. -

I highly recommend the Greenhouse room with Pearl St. Catering. The food was also great! -

I was thrilled with my experience of having our reception in the Crystal Ballroom at the Hotel Lafayette! WE started working with Carrie in October 2014. Carrie was accommodating for any time that my fiancé and I were in town for planning and she was willing to do things and make changes for us to customize our day to be exactly how we wanted it. Unfortunately, we weren't able to finish our experience with her as she left her position and we finished planning with Ally via email and phone calls. We only actually met her 3 days before the wedding. Carrie did such a great job keeping track of all of our communications that the transition was seamless. There was only 1 slip-up that occurred the day of the wedding. There was miscommunication about our bar staying open for an extended amount of time. We quickly discussed it with the manager that was on duty and it was rectified within minutes. Only 2 guests were aware there was even an issue! Amazing! On top of all of this.... I had SEVERAL guests comment on how accommodating the staff was! I noticed that once I arrived at cocktail hour, they were extremely attentive to me, but apparently in the beginning they had made a point to find out who the MOG, MOB, and grandparents were and made sure they were all taken car elf for the night. Even guests that weren't "wedding party" couldn't believe how friendly and attentive the staff were. To make a point to tell me is saying something about the professionalism. I am THRILLED that we decided to have our reception here! -

My husband and I just had our ceremony and reception in the Greenhouse room at Hotel Lafayette in Buffalo, NY. Our room was run by Pearl Street Catering which always seems to do a fantastic job. From first viewing the space (back when it was still under construction!) to our wedding day, everything was great. Communication with the Pearl Street team was so easy and responses were always quick. Not a bad thing to say! We had our ceremony in the same room and the team made it as perfect as we could've imagined! I definitely recommend the Pearl Street rooms at Lafayette and the Pearl Street Catering team in general! -

We had our reception in the marquis ballroom located on the first floor! Not one complaint.... top notch for sure. -

My husband and I had our wedding reception here on June 10 2017, in the Grand Ball Room. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning and was the perfect setting for our wedding. We had about 220 guests and they fit very comfortably in the room. We also had an additional smaller room that was connected to the side of the ballroom that was used for our cocktail hour and housed the bars for the duration of the reception. We had plenty of room for all of our guests to fit on the dance floor, and the service the entire wedding was top-notch. While the room is ran by the restaurant and banquet facility Aqua, so I am not sure who would take credit for the food, the food was incredible and we still have guests raving about it.
As for the rooms, I stayed in one of the suites for the night before the wedding and the night of the reception. My room had a kitchen, a small living room area, a decent sized bathroom, and a small bedroom. It was perfect. We used this room to get ready in the day of the wedding and there was more than enough room for me, my four bridesmaids, my mom, the photographer, two people doing hair, and two people doing makeup; as well as enough space for everyones' things. For the guests who also stayed at the hotel, the hotel did allow me to reserve a block of hotel rooms at a discounted price for my guests. They allowed you to book 10 rooms at a time and once those were filled you were able to reserve 10 more. The guests who stayed said the rooms were perfect as well.
Everyone at the hotel made this wedding a night to remember for a lifetime and their continued excellent service over the two days we were there was unwavering. I would recommend this hotel for out of town guests to stay at as well as anyone looking for a venue for any sort of party, weddings included.
The only con, which actually did not bother us at all, is that their prices for a one night stay are a little high.-

Everyone at the Lafayette made the planning process of our reception so incredibly easy! We were tired of shopping for venues when we went to them, and when they told us that they had packages that we could choose from that include EVERYTHING for a very very reasonable price, and not too much thinking, we couldn't wait to sign the contract. They provide a huge variety of decor for you to choose from, but you are more than welcome to bring in whatever you want. I only brought in extra candles because I wanted more candlelight than they would provide. We had appetizers and a bottle of champagne waiting for us at our table since we missed the cocktail hour, and a bartender immediately came over to us for an additional drink order as salad was being served. Our guests raved and raved about the food, the bartenders, and the look for the venue. Throughout the wedding process, I e-mailed Lindsey with any questions I had and would always receive a response that day, most of the time only 2 hours later at max. Absolutely no regrets. -

I had a great time at my wedding. The ladies in the catering dept were all very prompt with responding to emails. Each meeting was conducted professionally and seamlessly. All my questions were answered and on the day of the event everything ran very smoothly. All of my decorations and centerpieces were assembled beautifully. The favors that were brought in from an outside vendor were displayed beautifully. They even left extra appetizers at my table since my husband and I missed the cocktail hour. My only complaint was that the breakdown began to take place before all the guests left so the end did seem a bit rushed, especially considering that I didn't want the night to end. All in all everything was beautiful and well executed. I loved everything. My husband loved the bartender, he definitely took care of the guys. -

We chose this venue mainly for the atmosphere, decent food, and variety of beer choices (we love beer). We had a duel entree of chicken and pot-roast and all our guests were blown away to how much food they got. Basically, the pot-roast is so good, the chicken isn't needed. Many guests went home with to-go boxes and smiles on their face looking forward to tomorrow's lunch! The rooms have so much charm, decorating was a breeze, the beer...delicious, and the staff was very accommodating. And the cost for all this? Very affordable! We had the most wonderful time here, would make the same choice over and over again! -

Perfect for all-in-one wedding weekend!
The Marquis de Lafayette was the perfect venue for our April 2019 wedding. The antique hotel architecture of the Marquis ballroom was a beautiful location for our ceremony. The guests could easily see and hear us. After the ceremony guests enjoyed a cocktail hour in the Crystal Ballroom while the staff turned the ceremony space into our lovely reception.
Prior to the wedding, I asked both the recommended DJ and Rachel Catalano, the Catering Sales Manager for Marquis de Lafayette for sound recommendations for the ceremony. Both recommended using a wireless mic, so I paid extra for the wireless mic. After I walked down the aisle and arrived at the stage for the ceremony, I realized our officiant did not have the wireless mic. I was actually glad she did not have it because everyone was able to hear us well, even in the back row. Unfortunately, during the reception the echo from the stage paired with the wireless mic made it difficult for some guests to hear the speeches. For any other couple who plans to use the stage at Marquis de Lafayette I would actually recommend either NOT using a microphone or having the people making speeches NOT on the stage. Guests were able to hear the pastor and he spoke from the side of the room and not the stage.
During the reception, I asked my Dad to put a piece of cookie cake aside for me. He came back and said he couldn’t find it. After investigation, we found out Wegmans did not deliver it. It was supposed to be a full sheet, half our total cake order from Wegmans! I had told the representative at Marquis de Lafayette what to expect from Wegmans. I wish they had notified us earlier in the day so Wegmans could be contacted and bring it. Luckily, we had enough cake. I suppose if the worst thing that happened on my wedding day was one of my four cakes was not delivered I’m very luckily!
The Marquis de Lafayette staff at the reception was very helpful and willing to help my family and I in any way. My Mom was thankful the staff helped her collect all the décor and leftover favors.
Parking downtown can be tricky especially for out of town guests or when other events are occurring simultaneously downtown. We decided to use the valet service offered by the hotel for the wedding. The valet is part of the Hotel at the Lafayette not the Marquis de Lafayette. It seemed to work out well for the event, but the hotel valet was understaffed Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning.
Guests loved being able to run up to the room and not needing to go outside. Overall, we are very happy with our choice to have our wedding at The Marquis de Lafayette and would recommend it as a wedding venue. Thank you to the staff for helping to make our wedding the best wedding we have ever been to (we may be biased) and truly the best day of our lives.Tappo Venues @ Hotel Lafayette's reply:
Hi Elizabeth!
Many thanks for your post. We love all of our weddings at the Hotel Lafayette and are always excited to create fabulous memories for our couples. I apo;ogize re the valet and will speak to the Hotel Management team in regard to their staff so we can correct it for future parties. Re the cake, we weren't sure if one of the cakes were 1/2 and 1/2 and unfortunately didn't discover it until it was time to cut and serve.
I am happy that you enjoyed and we wish you a lifetime of happiness, love and laughter.
The best to you both!

We recently had our wedding in the Marquis Ballroom. Rachel was very responsive and helpful throughout the entire planning process. She worked with us to create a reception that really represented who we were as a couple and met all of our needs. The day of, Jodi ensured that all of our guests were kept happy, as well. The food was amazing and our guests have had nothing but positive reviews for the venue, especially the amazing appetizers! I HIGHLY recommend this venue! -

We had our rehearsal dinner in the Crystal Ballroom at the Lafayette Hotel. We had a sit down dinner for approximately 20 guests. Everything was wonderful and they still had it decorated for Christmas on the night before NYE. It was beautiful even without the decorations. Steaks cooked to a perfect medium rare as requested. Drinks were only ok. Service was great and they even let me bring in our own dessert to save a little $$! -

The Hotel Lafayette was an amazing venue and their rooms are incredible! We had our ceremony and reception at the Hotel and a good portion of our guests stayed there as well. It made the entire day incredibly convenient and easy. Not to mention, the Hotel is gorgeous so we had a number of great spots to take some really cool pictures with our photographer. -

I day dream about my wedding here every day
My October wedding is featured in this virtual tour! Big, beautiful space with a warm environment. Looks magical when all the candles are lit and the lights are dimmed. Great space for music and dancing and the team really made sure my husband and I were taken care of all night (and always had our drink of choice in hand!) I miss it every day -

Food was the best wedding food any of my guests have ever had! The wait staff was excellent and very helpful. However, we did have some communication issues involving lack of response via email and full voice mail boxes. This was very frustrating. In the end, everything ended up working out, but added some additional stress. Beautifully stunning venue! -

We had our wedding at Crystal Ballroom few months ago and I was very happy with how things turned out. There were some issues before the wedding that we had to iron out with the event coordinator. The event coordinator was not good about getting back to us in a timely manner but as we got close to the date she was more responsive. That being said, she did come through for us in the end. We had the most perfect wedding day. The venue is gorgeous! Staff was friendly and service was great. I would recommend the venue crystal ballroom at the Lafayette hotel and aqua for catering to anyone. Make sure you work out the details before the wedding and double check things aren't changed last minute. It is always good to have things in writing. One thing that caught us off guard was 20% percent service fee that we thought covered gratuity. But we found out when we signed the contract that it did not cover any tips for the event staff. Most other venues did not have such a high service fee that didn't even cover gratuity. Anyways still I loved the venue and the service. It turned out to be an awesome day. -

The Hotel Lafayette is a gorgeous, lovely venue & everyone loved it. Our wedding was wonderful & we had an amazing time. Would do it again in a heartbeat. We had the Courtyard room & the ceremony was in the outdoor courtyard. It was the perfect spot for the ceremony!! Beautiful & romantic. The food was great, especially the pot roast!! Everyone raved about it. I only have a few complaints. They did not put our centerpieces together as I would have liked which was very important to me. I put a lot of time, thought & money into them so I was a bit disappointed with that. Also, I was assured that there would be better signage for guests to be able to find their way to the ceremony. We heard feedback that people had a hard time finding it & noticed that they didn't really remedy that as they said they would. Finally, and may I say the least distressing, our cake fell on the floor, I know this sounds terrible but it really wasn't that big of a deal to us. I'm not sure who was at fault but I don't believe the pastry chef put any reinforcements in the cake, I can't say for sure. However, she did tell me (as well as many guests told us) the table they gave her to set it up on was quite wobbly & it was in a pretty high traffic area. Thank goodness we ordered a smaller "display" cake as well a sheet cake so there was still cake to serve. As a result of being hard to find & the cake issue, they came for us a bit late which put everything approximately 20 min behind. The problem with that was they rushed us through our pictures & we were unable to get all the pics we wanted. Basically zero pics with our family members :( I think they should have shifted the reception to allow for their mistake. All that being said, I would not change the venue. -

We loved the charm and unique feeling of the Hotel Lafayette. It was exactly what we were looking for for our wedding - gorgeous setting, downtown, convenient, everything included, great food, craft beer. We were also excited that our guests could stay at the Hotel the night of the wedding and walk just a few feet to their room. Our wedding planner was not as responsive as I wish. We also were not told that we had to reserve the wedding room block by calling someone else (we asked, but had no way of knowing this on our own until it was too late). Unfortunately it was too late to reserve a room block, but we were able to at least get a room for my bridal suite the night before and the night of the wedding. Our wedding planner for the drop off and our day of wedding planner Raven completely made up for the mishap before. Everything went smoothly and our wedding day was perfect - we had our ceremony in the courtyard area and the reception immediately after. We heard great reviews about the food and the bartenders. Bottom line - I would 100% choose the Pan American Room again, but I wish that we had a different planner from the beginning. -

The Marquis de Lafayette ballroom is a stunning location for a wedding. I had my ceremony and reception there and I loved the way it looked and my guests raved about the venue. Unfortunately a few things happened that would make me not recommend this venue for everyone. Communication with Molly was extremely poor. It would take 4 or 5 emails before she would respond to a question. I had no idea what the venue provided and what I needed to provide myself. I was very uninformed throughout the whole planning process. I went to a group tasting which was a big waste of time because nobody was there to talk to individual couples and I had no idea what I was tasting so that had to be redone. Another issue we had was that since we had our ceremony and reception in the same room, it had to flipped after ceremony and set up for the reception. I was told this would not be an issue at all since my guests would be in the automobile club for cocktail hour and they could do it in time. That was not the case. It took about 2 hours for them to get the room ready which meant that my cocktail hour was 2 hours long. Not many people noticed just because we upgraded cocktail hour so there was a lot to eat and do but it meant that my dancing time was cut down by an hour. Then dinner took forever to serve and only half of the vegetarians got the correct meal. This was embarrassing since we had menus at each place setting and the food did not match what was on the menu. Dinner was suppose to end at 8:30 but it was 10:30 by time everyone ate. I had to pay my photographer and DJ extra to stay later. Several special things that I made were either set up incorrectly or not set at all which was sad since I spent time on those. So, although its a beautiful venue with delicious food, I have to say look elsewhere for your wedding and save yourself the stress of no communication with your vendor and a very delayed dinner. -

Working with Marquis De Lafayette was a stressful experience. We originally worked with one coordinator who was terrible at communicating. We requested another, who turned out to be better than the first, but still took her time to respond to phone calls and emails. I know a few other people who got married in the exact same room as I did and the contracts were not the same between the 4 weddings I compared mine to. We signed a contract stating that we had to spend a minimum of $15,000.00 to book that room. The other couples that I know signed contracts ranging anywhere from $12,000.00-$15,000.00. This seems rather unusual as one room should be the same price regardless of who is getting married there, when they are getting married, or how many people will be there. That minimum amount is solely based on the room, nothing else.
We had a few mishaps that day with things being set up differently than originally planned, and decorations being "misplaced" after the wedding (that have still yet to be found), and the bartenders refusing to give out "shots" unless they were referred to as "neat" or "on the rocks". We were not informed about this rule before the wedding.
I also worked with Acqua to book my shower at the Foundry, which went awful. I found out two days before the shower that the menu was wrong, the linen package was wrong, and worst of all - they had booked us for the wrong room and given our room to another party. They were able to fix the linens, and menu, but the room was not able to be changes so we just had to work with what we were given. Unfortunately we weren't given any kind of discount for their mishap.
I would probably not recommend Acqua catering due to their lack of care and respect for customers time and money. Overall the wedding looked beautiful and the food was great, but customer service should be number 1 and it was not. -

NOTE: This negative review is for the HOTEL, not the wedding reception venue.
This review outlines what to expect for a wedding event:
1) Our event was catered and organized by "Acqua". They have their own event manager and staff. You are forced to use Acqua if your event is held in the large beautiful Marquis ballroom on the ground floor. Our wedding reception, food, bar, and waitstaff were excellent.
2) Here is where the problem begins. I read many reviews prior to booking our wedding here about how TERRIBLE the hotel front desk is. I was assured that there would be no issues, so we set up a wedding room block for our guests...big mistake. Again, the hotel and the event itself are run separately.
We walk into the lobby area before reception and immediately notice the family names are misspelled on a large tv. The reception start time was also incorrect. My mother and I quickly informed the front desk of the mistakes and they proceeded to BLAME ACQUA. I then took it upon myself to look at the paperwork Acqua had given them. Sure enough it was NOT Acqua's mistake. It was the fault of the front desk. This is just the beginning of their incompetence, unfortunately. The assistant GM (Nicole) made the necessary change, but was unfriendly.
Then my mother tells me they could not find her reservation. Her reservation was made 9 months prior and she had the receipt showing it. They fumbled around for 15 minutes and finally set her up with a room. She went to the room and there were stains on the furniture, dirty sheets at foot of mattress, and no towels or toilet paper. She had to call down so they could send housekeeping to clean and supply the room! Not what you want when paying this much money!
Post Event: Spoke to both the hotel assistant GM(Nicole) and the GM (Steve W.) Both were not helpful and rude/unfriendly. I do not recommend booking room blocks for your guests.
Great wedding venue...terrible hotel management. -

Extremely Unprofessional - Stood us up
My fiance and I scheduled a tour for the Greenhouse Room at The Lafayette for this past weekend about a month ago. We live seven hours away and could only tour venues on Saturday. I reached out to confirm the date, place, and time of our tour appointment. I received a confirmation on Wednesday that Becky would be meeting us on Saturday at 9 AM at the hotel. My fiance and I arrived at 8:50 AM to an empty lobby. We waited a bit for someone at the front desk to arrive and we told him we were here to see Becky for a 9 AM tour of the Greenhouse Room. He told us she meets people in the lobby, so we could just wait there. He then disappeared into a back office, never to be seen again. At 9:10, we were still waiting and I sent an email asking for an ETA. We got no response. We decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and we waited an entire hour. No one showed up and no one ever responded to our email. The man working the front desk never spoke to us again or gave us any contact information for Becky. After we left, I sent an email letting them know we left and we will not be getting married there. It's Sunday evening now, and we have yet to hear anything back from anyone. We would NEVER recommend the hotel or any of the wedding spaces to anyone. This was the first venue we were going to see, and this was extremely rude and unprofessional. -

Unresponsive and Not Helpful
I reserved a hotel block at Hotel Layfayette for my wedding guests, as well as booked a suite for myself for the date of even 8.28.20, however due to Covid-19, I had to push my wedding date to May 15, 2021. For the past 2 months I’ve been trying to get ahold of the General Manager, Steve Walsh to update our reservation (suite and Hotel
Block for our guests) to our new wedding date, however I have not heard back. I have gotten through to customer care and each time have been told only Steve Walsh can adjust these. I have left voicemails for Steve Walsh as well as directly emailed him and still NOTHING.
I truly hope we will not be charged for the hotel stay on August 27-28 as we will not be showing up and and have been unable to successfully cancel or update our reservation.
I guess I will need to find a new hotel to stay at in May if 2021. -
