    Memorable & Meaningful

    My wedding was always a day I dreamt of and looked forward to with my family, especially my mom. Of course we wanted it to be fabulous but even more so a meaningful, genuine and a god centered occasion. When considering wedding planners we looked for someone that was fun and grounded so they could bring to life that type of occasion. During the pandemic we met with Katherine, and almost instantly could tell she would not be simply a planner but treat us like family. Evenmoreso you could tell she was more than qualified for the job. She managed our expectations, brought to life dreams and ensured all was taken care of… even when we thought a wedding may not happen or masks would be required. Looking back I can tell you that my wedding would not have been so meaningful or memorable without the Sweet August Events team. Their connections and reputation across the industry are unparalleled. They don’t just want to create an impression but a lasting memory for all. At the end of the day in an industry where there’s a lot of wannabes Katherine & SWA are the real deal. My only complaint is that it all flew by too fast and we aren’t still swapping phone calls & texts about wedding details.

    Thank you SAE!

    I hired SAE (Event Management package so 45 days out + day-of) for our Feb '22 wedding and worked with Danielle who we absolutely LOVED. She single-handedly kept me out of the looney bin in the last few weeks leading up to the wedding and made our event totally seamless. She went on a wild goose chase for this random table I was obsessed with (and found it!), had a great sense of humor during our venue walkthroughs and Zoom calls (I lived in Dallas but wedding was in San Antonio), and helped me tie up all the loose ends that I wouldn't have been able to do on my own. She always made me feel like I was the priority and made sure I wasn't compromising my vision of the day just because something might be easier for vendors, etc., and I was able to relax on the day without a second-guess that she had everything under control. My mother-in-law still talks about how much she loved her :) Thank you, Danielle, for being genuine and fun and wonderful at your job!!

    Incredible energy

    Amber was truly one of the most amazing wedding planners I’ve ever worked with. I have assisted her on multiple weddings and her ability to task organize, adapt to any situation, stay positive, and execute such beautiful work goes truly unmatched. As I am new to the industry, She went out of her way to ensure I new exactly what to do and when to do it. All brides, families, vendors, and venue owners are always full of joy when working with her. Amber is a great asset to Sweet August and they have done an awesome job letting her grow in the industry. Any bride that chooses her will have such a smooth and great experience. They always go above and beyond!

    Wedding Magic

    Our wedding planning journey literally began with me proposing to my now wife during the spring break before all heck broke loose. Katherine began helping with our wedding planning at the same time that she was having to reschedule, or in some cases replan other weddings. This was difficult for us to understand at first, but I assure you once the process got further along and our dates were priorities, she worked her tail off to ensure we were happy and taken care of. Her venders and colleagues were all tremendous and it made it abundantly clear that good character builds good company. On the day of the wedding she was strong and capable which also helped her to be a calming presence both pre ceremony and into the evening. For anyone on the fence about the value of her assistance, I assure you it was well worth the piece of mind throughout. And guys, I have to admit, I very frugal, but dang was this the most elegant looking event I’ve ever been apart of. Katherine knocked it out of the park with the décor. I felt like a Rockefeller. Thank you Katherine, for everything.

    I don’t even know where to begin other than saying that KATHERINE IS THE BEST WEDDING PLANNER IN THE WORLD!! I got engaged in late December 2016 while living in Chicago and booked a wedding date for September 2017 in Gruene, TX. The idea of planning a destination wedding in under a year had me stressed but Katherine completely soothed my fears! Even from the first time I spoke with her on the phone, I knew she was a professional. Everyone kept asking me throughout the planning process if I was stressed and my answer was ALWAYS no because I knew Katherine had everything under control! Even the weeks right before the wedding I was stress-free! I gave Katherine my vision and she delivered 100%; she knew things I would like before I did. She knows all the best vendors and made the process so enjoyable and exciting for my fiancé and I. For instance, she arranged meetings with many of our vendors when we were visiting TX; so helpful!! So many of our guests said everything was absolutely perfect and gorgeous and it’s all thanks to her! On top of planning everything, she also did all of our flowers and they were BEAUTIFUL! I had an idea of what I wanted but let her take the wheel. I didn’t know exactly what the bouquets would look like but they were seriously exactly what I had wanted! She is SO GOOD at planning weddings and I can’t imagine my wedding without her! She is the sweetest, positive, and most creative person!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

    Sweet August Events were my day planners for my wedding on August 5, 2017 at Kendall Plantation and they were INCREDIBLE! They prepared a timeline, set up all of my decor, and coordinated with every single vendor. They came to my rehearsal AND ceremony (even though the ceremony was 25 minutes from the reception) and made sure everything ran smoothly the day of my wedding. They constantly kept asking me and my husband if we needed anything and were bringing us water and our favorite alcoholic beverages the entire night. Even though I didn't use them as my full time planner, if you just take a look at any of their social media accounts you can see how INSANELY talented they are at wedding planning - their style is elegant yet eclectic and is amazing! Janell and Katherine (the owner) were nothing short of amazing for my big day and I highly recommend using Sweet August Events for your wedding or event!

    I was referred to Sweet August Events by a friend of mine when thinking about hiring a wedding planner. I wasn't 100% sure I wanted a planner but after meeting with Kathryn and Deidra I knew they were the team we needed for our wedding! Deidra was the head coordinator for our wedding and let me just tell you...She was AAAAMAZING to work with. She was so patient, sweet and informative when it came to choosing a theme, vendors and every the little detail we made to make our wedding a dream come true.

    We chose the 45 day out package. I was a little hesitent at first when we first signed the contract, but Deidra was very helpful between the day we signed and the 45 day mark. She provided great vendor list and information when we requested it. But let me tell you, when that 45 day mark hit, Deidra was on a roll! She was on top of every detail big and small, vendor communication and every follow up possible. She was so detailed and organized which was a huge plus when we met. She even had ALL of my vendors at our venue walk through, which was helpful for everyone to know what to expect the day of.

    Another plus was that Deidra was assisted the day of our wedding by Molly who was sweet has could be and very helpful the whole night!

    Long story short...I would highly recommend SAE! Their whole team has great style, ideas, are organized and most importantly very sweet! If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't change a thing, it truly was everything we wanted plus more!! Definitely request Deidra if you can :)

    Katherine and her team were amazing and made our magical evening the best!! She is energetic, super organized, efficient, calm, and always ready for anything! We are so grateful for her service and she made our event one to remember! Her husband Chris, did our videography as well, and he was incredible. The two of them are such a dynamic team and got the job done but made it fun and stress free! We highly recommend Sweet August Events and Squinted Cinema!

    Deidra did an excellent job as our "month of" coordinator. She is very professional with a sweet and friendly personality. It's important to connect on a personal level with your coordinator as she will conduct the entire event from start to finish and she'll be the contact point for all the other vendors during the final weeks approaching the event date. Deidra was available for several meetings and went on a site visit to the Paniolo Ranch with my daughter and I and our florist to work out logistics for the ceremony and reception. She was always quick to respond to phone calls, texts, and emails. She is also exceptionally talented at calligraphy as well, and did a beautiful job on several chalkboards for us. Her calm demeanor was an added plus, especially on the day of the wedding! You will not be disappointed if you choose Deidra to coordinate/plan your wedding! Thank you, Deidra, for helping to make my daughter's wedding a night to remember!

    There's so much to say about Katherine and her team. As I began the wedding process, I was new to San Antonio and did not know how to navigate the planning process. That's when SAE stepped in and made all my dreams come true. Their attention to detail, experience and relationships with fabulous vendors are great! But their passion for family, love for what they do, and their sincerity makes them second to none. Throughout the process, my fiancé and I felt they were not only committing to making our wedding a success, but also helping us to build a strong foundation for a marriage. We were so pleased with their work! They do not disappoint!

    Katherine Lopez with Sweet August events was an absolute blessing to our wedding! You can't bring a "problem" to Katherine... she remains calm in every situation and has a solution for everything. It is unbelievable! She also did the flowers for our wedding, which was absolutely perfect! So much talent, great service and the perfect wedding planner to lead the way. Seriously, the best investment you can make for your big day. I recommend Sweet August Events without even a tad of reservation. Thank you!!!

    Janell at Sweet August was amazing to work with! She was very helpful with the questions we had and was very organized; making sure the wedding timeline was kept and all questions ran thru her. Having Janell at the wedding and not having to worry about the little things is what made the day even more special. :)

    One of the best wedding decisions we made was hiring Sweet August Events. Even after our very first conversation, I could tell that we were incredibly lucky to have found Reba to be our day-of coordinator!

    As a Pinterest-loving photographer, I had a pretty specific vision for our wedding, but I wanted to hand over the logistics on the day of the ceremony so that I could actually be present and enjoy the day with my husband. What I didn't realize was that in hiring Reba as our day-of coordinator, we were also getting a wedding planner for the final two weeks before the ceremony. After I met with her to hand over all of my planning documents, she went straight to work preparing a detailed timeline for us, contacting vendors, and squaring away details. I had been dreading having to follow up with all of our vendors to make sure everyone was on the same page, but Reba did that for me. She just worked her behind-the-scenes magic and everything fell into place, despite having to move to our Plan B due to torrential rain.

    I could tell that Reba totally understood the style I was going for, and she was lightning fast with communication at all times! No matter what time I texted her, I would receive a reply back within seconds. Seriously, I don't know how she did it! She was so patient with all of my requests. On the day of the wedding, she anticipated all of the helpful details needed for things to run seamlessly. It was like we had a personal wedding coach with us at all times! She taught us how to walk down the aisle, showed us the easy way to cut the cake, and gave us tips for our confetti exit. She was always one step ahead of us, solving problems before they became problems.

    We are SO grateful that she helped make our wedding the best day ever, and we wholeheartedly recommend hiring Sweet August Events!

    I wish I could put a 6 on some of these ratings. Kathrine was able to make our wedding planning significantly easier and saved my butt more than once on the day of! I am extremely glad that we were able to have her take care of us at one of the most important days of our lives. These girls are willing to go through any adversity to make this day special for you to the point that you wont even notice they are there running the show. Nothing phases them and they will handle any even with pride for their name! Thank you so much for your services.

    Reba and Katherine are true professionals and made our wedding day unforgettable! They took the time to get to know me as the bride and understand the vision that I had for our wedding & then made it come to LIFE! Our day was truly unforgettable and breath-taking. Reba went out of her way to make our day stress free and amazing. I wish we could do our big day all over again! It was unbelieveable!!

    We hired Reba to be our full wedding coordinator for our wedding in New Braunfels and I have nothing but amazing things to say about her! Not only did Reba pull off the wedding of my dreams, but she allowed me to be completely stress free throughout the entire process. Reba took care of absolutely everything from selecting vendors, developing the design, making DIY décor, coordinating all of the day-of activities, and everything in between.

    Reba coordinated all of the design/décor for the wedding. This included everything from working with the linen vendor to select table linens to designing centerpieces with the florist. She designed an amazing ceremony backdrop, gift table, cupcake table, and stage backdrop, using a lot of décor from the Sweet August Events warehouse (which saved a lot of $$ since we didn’t have to buy it!). I was completely blown away with the final design! She nailed the theme and made it even better than I could have imagined.

    Aside from all of the design and vendor communication, Reba also did the day-of coordination for the wedding, and again, she was an all-star! We received multiple compliments from our vendors saying that Reba was incredibly organized, which assured me she had everything under control, allowing me to enjoy the day and not stress about a thing.

    Not only did Reba coordinate and design a beautiful and stress-free wedding, but she made it personal to my husband and me. Reba genuinely cared about us and took time to incorporate personal touches to make it about us. I love frozen yogurt and when I mentioned that a froyo bar would be awesome, she did one better and found a froyo truck that drove down from Austin for our late night snack!

    If you are considering hiring a wedding coordinator, you won’t be disappointed with Reba. She is amazing at her job and you will be forever grateful that you could enjoy your wedding day, rather than stressing about all the details. Thank you for the perfect wedding Reba!

    Reba and Katharine saved my life!!! They gave me the freedom to relax on my day and I had complete faith in their ability to set up every detail just as I had envisioned it. Reba communicated with every vendor I had booked to ensure everyone was on the same page and orchestrated set-up entirely without me or anyone in my family so we could occupy our time with each other. Not only did she create reception areas I absolutely loved, she also contributed decor from Sweet August's office that made final touches really wow. I truly think Reba and Katherine are lifesavers and a must-have for brides.

    There is no way my wedding day would have been the same without Katherine. I started with the 45 day out package but Katherine came to my rescue earlier when I was feeling overwhelmed by the decisions. Every detail of my wedding was perfect and I am so grateful to her and the amazing vendors she recommended.

    I cannot even begin to say 'thank you' enough for everything that Tristan with Sweet August helped with. Not only was I fortunate enough to find an absolutely fantastic wedding planner, walking away with a beautiful wedding, I also made a great friend who saw eye to eye with me on every level!! Every detail was thought out, considered, and performed. Our wedding was such a flawless event that allowed both sets of parents to relax and enjoy the marriage of their children. Katherine was on site to help the day of the wedding and she was so sweet and wonderful. I understand what makes this company thrive - wonderful women who are respectful of your time, money and especially your vision.     First of all, ladies if your on this website considering how important it is to get a planner for your wedding let me tell you that it was the BEST decision I ever made! It truly made my wedding planning experience a million times better! Choosing Sweet August Events was the second best decision I ever made! Katherine and Tristan make an amazing team and are both such classy, caring, and remarkable women that truly put love into what they do! This is not one of those event planning businesses that creates the same generic work for everyone because every bride is unique and doesn't need that! They are so creative and really cater to what the bride needs and desires. Katherine and Tristan helped me with everything and anything. They were there for me through the whole journey, always being my rock and guidance!
    As for the actual day, words can't even begin to describe how perfect everything was and it was all thanks to my Sweet August Events planners and all the vendors they helped me choose! I have absolutely nothing to complain about! They made all my dreams come true and I know that they are the perfect choice for any bride! Trust me future brides-it will be the best choice you ever make;)

    As an out of town bride Kathrine was very helpful to point me in the right direction and very flexible with my schedule. My entire year of planning was stress free. We had constant email and phone communication and both Kathrine and Tristan were always responsive and professional. The vendors that Sweet August works with are the best of the best and are on time. On the day of my wedding Tristan did an amazing job, she had everything under control. All my guest and myself have to do was show up. I could not have had a wedding as beautiful and run as smoothly with out the help of Sweet August Events.

    Catherine was amazing! We originally planned to work with her for support on wedding weekend only but little did we know just how much we needed her until we met her, heard her great ideas, and realized that we needed her the whole way through.     Katherine quietly handled a myriad of small details that neither my fiancé nor I would have even considered. These details made a measurable difference in the success of our wedding. During the ceremony and reception, she handled other vendors and other particulars so that my new bride and I could focus on each other and our guests.

    Katherine with Sweet August Events was an absolute God-send for my wedding! She looked at a few inspiration pictures I sent her, and interpreted it into the perfect wedding and reception that reflected my and my husband's personalities exactly. She was extremely responsive via email, phone, text, and meeting in person. I am actually going to miss talking to her every day because I feel like at this point she was more than just my wedding planner! She corresponded and worked with all of our vendors, so I did not have to mess with all of that complication. She ensured our payments to vendors were in on time and managed all of the contracts. If anything went wrong on the day of my wedding, I have NO idea about it! She assured me everything was in her hands, and I trusted her completely with all the details. I felt no stress before the wedding because I knew she had everything taken care of. I would absolutely use her again if I were to re-live my wedding, and I highly recommend her to anyone in need of a wedding or event planner. I have no complaints about Sweet August Events and only great things to say!

    My husband and I used Sweet August Events for our wedding in March of this year. We worked with Katherine and Janelle and they were wonderful. This group is exactly what you would expect in a wedding coordinator! They knew all the right places and faces and never hesitated to lend a helping hand. Sometimes (haha always) I felt overwhelmed with the planning since we were planning from Dallas and did not know the first thing about planning a wedding enough to even know what I could and could not ask them for help with! But they were always so open and approachable and whenever we would run into issues it was easy to sort through them to make sure everything was taken care of! The best part of their services is the wedding week. They really make it so easy to take things off your hands so that you and your family can just enjoy the night! The timeline was a GODSEND and so are they! I highly recommend this company and these ladies.

    Memorable, Fantastic, Best Day Ever

    Words to describe Katherine and Janell? Creative, efficient, organized, funny... I could go on!!! Guys, this is the dream team! Things I appreciated about them:

    1. They found ways to work with our budget
    2. We gave them a general idea of what we wanted for our wedding. They took this idea and ran with it!
    3.They took care of everything! My husband and I had ZERO stress. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. After this experience with Katherine and Janell, I can confidently say hiring wedding coordinators? TOTALLY WORTH IT. JUST DO IT! Yes, it had to be in all caps.

    Seriously, our wedding was better than we could’ve ever dreamed or imagined. Thanks ladies.

    Sweet August Events proved to be exemplary in coordinating all aspects of our wedding leading up to, and including our wedding day. We were impressed by their attention to detail, and their support on the day of. Having Sweet August Events coordinate our wedding was one of the best decisions we made!

    We used Katherine as our day-of wedding planner. Although we had lots of details planned out and sorted through, we still forgot a few things (our marriage license the day of the rehearsal and payment for our musicians the day of the wedding). Katherine was so helpful and drove back to our home to pick those things up and get them where they needed to be! She and Molly were both helpful on the wedding day with picking up and dropping things off between the house, church and our reception venue.
    Coordination at the church had a few little hiccups, as we felt that SAE could have done a better job of coordinating the movement of bride and groom, since we were trying not to see each other before the ceremony. However, everything went beautifully! They did a great job of communicating with all of the vendors. Katherine has such a sweet spirit and we appreciate all she did to help make our wedding day so special!

    Promising Team but expectations need to be checked

    We hired Sweet August under their all inclusive/complete package (August Rush package) being that we were planning a wedding remotely from out of state. Initially we met with Katherine, and she was nothing but pleasurable in the initial meeting. We felt reasonably comfortable in entrusting her and her team with the coordination of our wedding, as their combined years of experience and pool of vendors seemed like a win-win. We were assigned Danielle as our consultant for the remainder of the proceedings, to which, in general, the overall experience ended positively with our big day going off without many hitches. We did, however, throughout the process experience many bumps that made it very stressful. Partially, one could credit an over abundance of wedding postponements from COVID that pushed many of Sweet August’s customers into the same year leading up to our wedding. We tried to stay reasonably conscious that this was a factor, but often felt slightly dejected and put out off with statements to the effect that too many other couples were at more pressing stages. This could have water, but we also had, from the start, indicated that we felt concerned with relative timelines and shortness to which we had to make decisions being outside the state. We had started with weekly meetings trying to address vendor locking and design board generations. Weekly meetings shifted to every other or every 3 weeks in which not much would be accomplished in the weeks leading up to the meetings. We were to have an initial design board within the first 2-4 weeks. After a month into the relationship, we had asked how we were making out on the board, even after sharing a link to our wish list of ideas via Pinterest. We got push back several times stating that it was too early and they did not have time. For us, we reemphasized our concerns that being remote and outside the state where the wedding would be would not allow the collective team to react quickly to potential issues. As such, we thought that our needs should be addressed in a different manner than perhaps couples who were local. We did not end up getting a design board until almost 4 months into the relationship. We had also experienced issues with confirming body count for the venue. We had selected the actual venue with Danielle’s help via FaceTime, but had questioned its ability to hold our initial guest count of 150. Sweet August advised that they would take measurements of the space and draft up a seating layout to advise the feasibility. In our opinion, this stage took way too long as we had selected the venue essentially in January 2021, our date was for April 2022, and we did not get a firmed up seating chart until almost August of 2021. We had stressed the importance that if we needed to shift venues, it needed to be done quickly since they book up, and our contract with the venue had clauses regarding timeline to back out. Needless to say, almost 8 months later was too late to back out and start searching. Similar disconnects in these communications and addressing of our concerns would continue to transpire throughout our relationship. We also ran into issues of complacency when dealing with a handful of vendors and their contracts. When going through invitation design, we were told that they could only locate the vendor who was in Turkey and would not send any samples of materials in order for us to visualize the design and feel. A simple search on Etsy that we did separately found a local vendor who would accommodate our needs. This search was after we wasted almost 3-4 weeks going back and forth with the vendor in Turkey. Needless to say this was taxing on us as by the time we located the vendor ourselves, we were already late in sending the invitations out. We had to notify people via text to start making plans and bookings since the invitation might be late. The thing that we would advise all couples is that you need to make sure your needs, concerns, and questions are documented and addressed to your liking. This relation needs to feel like a collaborative effort, and if you are paying for the full service package, it should feel as such. Be also cautious of what is entailed within the August Rush Package as we had been lead to believe that it included negotiations with the vendors as well as contract oversight for linking of timelines. When asking Sweet August if they had leverage for negotiating pricing, the response was that vendors want what they want, no room for negotiations or discounts. We would separately approach the vendors who would state contrary. They offered cash discounts as well as were pliable in their payment terms. We had also worked on a timeline of events for the day where we had all agreed on a specific timeline for all vendors. When we got their various contracts after Sweet August had firmed up the details, somehow there was an oversight of an hour and a half gap where no music would be had. This came to almost $800 more to bring in the DJ for an extra hour and a half. When addressing Sweet August about this oversight, the first response was to state that we had changed the plans. When we dug up the emails, nothing had changed on our side, we had ordered the invitations and the hair stylist for the bride basis around a confirmation received from our consultant that all vendor timelines were fine. The August Rush Package stated that they would be monitoring all timelines, to which we had to push back that we were not responsible for this oversight. We came to an agreement and moved passed it, but this is a cautionary tale that you should be aware also of your own agreements.

    Would Not Recommend

    My husband and I hired Sweet August for our wedding in April and went for the largest package where they helped us plan and coordinate our wedding from start to finish. The senior consultant assigned to our wedding truly made my wedding process terrible. I would not wish my experience on any future bride. When I look back on my wedding planning experience I will always remember how rude and sometimes incompetent my wedding planner was. It was clear from the beginning that they took on too many clients and really did not have the time to devote to our wedding. This much was even said by our planner. Imagine hearing right from the beginning that your wedding is not a priority (which very well may be the case but shame on them for making a client feel that way). Our design board that was supposed to be curated within 4 weeks was extremely late, our invitation that the wedding planner assured us she would give to our photographer the day of our wedding was forgotten and we have no detail photos, an official budget was never outlined, and so much more. I can go on about the events that unfolded in my year working with them but I’ll just recount what I feel like was the most egregious act. There was one meeting that I distinctly remember where I was literally yelled at. The kicker to this is that the conversation began due to an oversight on their end that resulted in an extra charge from one of our vendors. In my opinion, there is not reason to yell at someone particularly when they are paying you for a service. Even worse, when you make an error, the response should not be to yell at your client to try and deflect and catch them off guard. To add insult to injury, after my wedding, 3 of my guests stated she was snippy or rude to them. The cardinal rule is to not worry the bride with day of mishaps so the fact that people felt it was important to still tell me about it lets me know it was absolutely true. That was probably the worst part because I really care about guest experience and was disheartened to know my friends and family had a negative take away from my big day. While my wedding was ultimately beautiful, I know it could have been executed by kinder and more gracious people, and again would not wish my experience on anyone. There are so many companies that can curate a great wedding but I would encourage any future bride to find one who also has polite consultants because they can really make or break your wedding experience.
