    Indian Wedding Decor Planner

    Where do I begin with Lauren and Southern Savvy Events. I am beyond blown away at how amazing she is! George and I came in with big visions and LOTS of questions and she was just so patient, kind, and just so darn creative! She took all of our smallest details and turned them into a decor theme that was the one word that kept coming through in our conversations and that was: magical. She makes things easy, totally gets on the same page as you, and works with some of the BEST vendors. The florist she coordinated with (Springvine) created such a stunning, unforgettable entrance into our reception space. I can't recommend enough how lucky you'd be to work with Lauren for your next event or wedding.

    Best wedding planner ever!!

    Words cannot express how thankful I am that Lauren came into my life to plan and design our wedding. We interviewed a bunch of planners and I was immediately drawn to Lauren’s spirit. She is calm but confident and I knew I would be in great hands!

    And it was only uphill from there. Lauren put a ton of effort into getting to know us, as well as our wedding style. The result was that she curated a set of vendors that not only perfectly captured our vision, but also were a delight to work with. To be honest, I was kind of dreading planning the wedding, but Lauren actually made it enjoyable.

    She took so much off my plate, kept me organized, and always seemed to know exactly what I needed before I even realized it (going so far as to tell me to breathe just before I walked down the aisle so I didn’t pass out from nerves). She took my mish mosh vision and turned it into the most beautiful event that I have ever experienced. On top of that, she came up with a million little details that were extremely personal to us – those are the things that we will remember looking back on the most special day of our lives.

    Lauren is a superstar. She went over and above her responsibilities and made sure our day went off without a hitch. She took a lot of time to walk me through documents that I didn't understand and she has an incredible attention to detail. I felt like she looked out for me every step of the way, particularly stepping in on my behalf as I was wedding planning remotely.

    Lauren handled our day-of planning and went above and beyond. Our venue was a private residence so it had its fair share of logistical challenges - especially in setting up catering for 170 people. Lauren handled any issues that arose seamlessly. As the bride, I didn’t see or feel any issues that came up on wedding day- everything was handled without creating any sort of stress. Our day was perfect and we could not have pulled it off without her.

    Once we started planning our wedding, I became completely overwhelmed and I knew we needed help. We met with Lauren after a wedding planner acquaintance recommended her and we hired her after being impressed by her organization and professionalism. Lauren helped us plan a destination wedding in Asheville in just 6 months which is by no means an easy feat. She found nearly all of our vendors and executed all of our ideas flawlessly. She suggested top notch vendors that completely delivered and she handled the inevitable small issues that came up on the day of without us knowing a thing about it. I was completely relaxed and enjoyed celebrating with family and friends without worrying at all about what might happen because I knew Lauren had the experience and expertise to know how to handle it. Everything was exactly as I'd imagined. The last thing I will say is that the value of her services is incredible. The amount of work she put forth on our wedding for what we paid her made her worth every last penny! Not to mention she saved us thousands of dollars in fees, vendor discounts, and price negotiating. Any time our venue hit us with a handling charge or a vendor charged us a little more than we were originally quoted, Lauren was right there going to bat for us, negotiating the costs down or having our venue get rid of the charges altogether. I am forever grateful to her for this. The best investment you can make for your wedding is a highly organized planner like Lauren with great connections who goes above and beyond to make everything just right. I couldn't have planned this wedding and kept my sanity without her!

    Southern Savvy did an excellent job! I am not easily pleased but was extremely impressed when i saw the wonderful job Lauren did at our daughter's wedding, including the days leading up to the wedding. Lauren was very organized and calm throughout the whole process and really kept my "perfectionist" daughter happy and at ease along the way and on her wedding day. Before and during the wedding, Lauren and her assistant were ON IT...EVERYWHERE managing every small and large detail-- I just couldn't believe it. There were hundreds of little details that my daughter wanted to be taken care of on the wedding day and everything went perfectly. It all was exactly as the couple wanted - nothing fell through the cracks - all thanks to Lauren! My daughter was the calmest I have ever seen her and trusted Lauren with everything...believe me, that says a lot for Lauren. She also saved my daughter several thousands of dollars in negotiating fees and following through with vendors. "Lauren is well worth the money and I highly recommend her.

    Lauren Pressley did an amazing job taking care of planning, organizing, co-ordinating and directing Holly and Doug's wedding. Everything went well and very smoothly. I highly recommend hiring Southern Savvy to take care of your special occasion.

    From the first day we started planning our wedding, it was extremely important that we had someone that we could count on to ensure that everything went according to plan on our special day. Southern Savvy did that and so much more. When we had an unexpected hiccup with the catering at the venue, Lauren was with us every step of the way. She is extremely responsive, professional and works very hard to make your wedding exactly what YOU (and your groom) want. I highly recommend Southern Savvy and can't thank Lauren enough for all that she did to make our wedding absolutely perfect.

    I couldn't have asked for a better wedding planner! Lauren is very prompt with answering emails, she knows all the answers to your questions, and is willing to go above and beyond for all of my wedding needs. She is the best!

    Amazing! Spectacular!! My dream come true and more for a once in a lifetime day and all thanks to Southern Savvy Events!! . She thought of everything and then some!! From being the most knowledgeable on all there is to know about wedding planning to helping with special and sentimental touches. She was truely a joy to work with!!!

    I could never write enough positive things about Lauren with Southern Savvy Events. I became engaged February 2014 and was working full time and going to grad school, so I knew I needed help. She came as a recommendation through a mutual friend, so I didn't know what to expect on a professional level. Needless to say, any fears I may have had were gone the first time I met Lauren in person. She seemed to understand exactly what I was looking for and I began to trust her judgment and vision just as much as my own. She took care of every detail until I finished school in August 2015, and by then almost everything was done. I had nothing to do but sit back and wait and make minor decisions until our April 2016 wedding.

    Coming from someone who is completely hands-on, type A, basically a self-proclaimed perfectionist, when it comes to details, I couldn't have done a better job even in a million years. Every detail was completely flawless. If anything happened the day-of or went wrong, I still have no idea. In addition to Lauren, her day-of assistant, Caroline, paid just as much addition to detail and was as in-the-know as if she had been in every meeting with us. From the black sequin runners (only for one table!), to the cake tablecloth (hot pink for just that table), to Rameses, the UNC mascot, showing up, it was all breathtaking.

    Leading up to the wedding our friends and family (and especially my groom) couldn't believe I wasn't nervous, but the truth is, I had no reason to be. Lauren made sure every detail was completed and made it easier than I ever could have imagined. I wish there was a better way to thank you, Lauren, but I hope this recommendation will help future brides to see how valuable of an asset you are!

    The absolutely only thing we could have done differently is having the cake cutting earlier just so that people not really staying for party could enjoy dessert. Everything else from start to finish was just the way Lauren dreamed it would be and thank you for all of your service throughout the process. We were just so pleased with everything and had soo many compliments from our family and friends.

    Lauren at Southern Savvy was great. When we first interviewed her, I was concerned about young she was (I am an older bride). She went above and beyond to make sure that we understood the wedding process. Since my husband and I both work full time and lead pretty full lives, we did not have time to research lots of vendors. From Day 1, Lauren helped us. The weekend of the wedding she was everywhere making sure everyone was where they should be but without stressing me or my family out. My mother can stress about anything, but Lauren and her team made it so that we could all enjoy the whole wedding.

    It is very sad and unfortunate, but I would not recommend hiring Lauren of Southern Savvy Events. I hate to write a negative review, but my hope is to prevent other brides from experiencing the stressful and disorganized process that we went through. Lauren loves what she does and has numerous contacts in the Charlotte industry. Overall, however, we were not satisfied with her services. Lauren greatly struggled with keeping up with details. Numerous things were dropped all the way up through the wedding day (ex: guests never got their programs, 60’ of garland never made it along the aisle, etc). However, our greatest obstacle was Lauren’s attitude. I felt like I constantly had to fight for what I wanted, even on decisions that were purely opinion based (ex: linen colors, glassware, etc.). It didn’t feel like we were being treated like a client. Any time we brought issues to her attention, she transferred the blame elsewhere instead of taking ownership. However, we believed that she would be able to pull it off when our big day arrived. Unfortunately, on the wedding day Lauren was frazzled, disorganized, and clearly stressed out, which only caused me to feel uneasy. She was late in getting me and the bridesmaids to come downstairs for the ceremony, and was yelling at us to run down the hall. I’m very saddened to say that she very negatively impacted my experience during my ceremony, and that’s something I can never get back. After that, the bridal party wasn’t served any food during the cocktail hour. During our sparkler exit, Lauren insisted on being the only one to light the flames. And finally, Lauren forgot to tell our caterer that the rented plates and glassware needed to be rinsed before being returned. Although clean-up was part of her responsibility, we were charged $170 from the rental company. To be perfectly honest - these are just a few of the frustrations we experienced, and we truly don’t want another bride to go through the same thing.

    I was the maid of honor at a wedding that Lauren coordinated, and unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend her. I didn’t meet Lauren until the rehearsal the day before the wedding, and honestly, I didn’t realize she was the wedding planner until about ¾ of the way through. If I didn’t know differently, I would have thought it was her first wedding, as she seemed really unprepared. At the wedding, a lot of the decorations were not set up the way they were supposed to be, even though Lauren said she had it under control. Before the ceremony, she gave the bridal party an itinerary for the wedding day, but it was unhelpful – for example, although there was a designated time the bridesmaids were meeting for pictures, it didn’t give any detail, and the wedding was at a large venue so it was impossible to guess where this was supposed to take place. She wasn’t in frequent communication with us, and was late in retrieving the bridal party for the ceremony. Once that happened, she stressed out the bride by telling her that she needed to hurry to make it to the ceremony on time. Lauren’s assistant was very helpful during the set up and tear down after the reception. In contrast, Lauren didn’t seem to be present for most of the day, and the times where I did see her, she seemed overwhelmed and flustered. My only firsthand experience with Lauren was on the actual wedding day and the rehearsal, but, based on my discussions with the bride, Lauren also had her faults in the planning process. It seemed like she was insistent on hiring her friends as the vendors, almost to a clique-y extent. While ideas and options are always welcome, when my friend indicated that she would prefer going in a different direction, Lauren continued to push for the vendors she initially suggested, with a strong implication that it was because she was friends with them. My purpose in writing this is to let future brides know the reality of what we experienced, and to prevent someone else from repeating this.
