Kimberley at Silver Thistle Events was amazing to work with. From our initial conversations, it was clear that she was going to work with us to make our vision for our wedding come true. Kimberley had a number of great relationships with vendors that we were able to tap into through her and she worked just as well with the vendors that we hired that she had not previously worked with.
She tirelessly worked with us and our vendors when we had to move our initial wedding date and make adjustments as we changed our guest count.
By the time the day of our wedding finally arrived, we know we could trust Kimberley to handle any and all of the challenges of the day. We can’t believe how much we were able to just enjoy our wedding without sweating the small stuff.

We booked Silver Thistle three months before our wedding. COVID had just chucked our plans for Big Sur out the window and we had just finalized our new venue closer to home which had used a big chunk of our budget. I was ready to settle on whatever generic vendors that would allow me to finalize everything on time. Our photographer suggested we chat with Kim before giving up on our vision for our big day.
Kim was offering a package for small weddings that included her design and planning expertise, reception rentals, florals, and catering which sounded like a god send on our tight timeline. Though her pricing was very fair and competitive for the market, we hesitated to hand over what was basically the rest of the money we had allotted for the wedding. After pouring over her portfolio and asking her five million questions, we agreed on the package.
BEST DECISION EVER. Kim took my hodge podge wedding pinterest board (I had pictures from Lord of the Rings and some opium dens in there) and turned it into our dream wedding. She knew within one meeting the exact vendors that matched our tastes and personalities. She truly listens and engages when she speaks with you. She doesn’t try to force any of the conventional ideas of a wedding and is only interested in what fits who you are as a couple. If we aren’t sure of an idea, she has three more to replace it. I cried the day she sent over her vision board- it was such a relief to have chosen the right person to hand our big day over to. Planning our wedding suddenly became fun again instead of a giant weight. We were blown away by the tasting at the catering team she had chosen. I think my mouth literally fell open when we met the florist and saw what she had collaborated with them on for our table centerpieces. When we asked her to recommend a good band- we booked the one she suggested without even hearing them first. That is the level of trust she created.
Seeing everything come together on our wedding day gave me such peace. There weren’t any details to worry about- she was on it. Instead, I got to concentrate on celebrating the lifelong commitment I was making with my best friend. Not everything went off without a hitch (to be expected when you enlist your family members instead of professionals to be the officiant, makeup artist, hair stylist, and emcee), but Kim quickly dealt with any hiccups efficiently and behind the scenes. Our reception was hands down the most beautifully decorated venue I have ever seen. This woman is gifted! All of our guests told us all night that it was so “us”. Every detail felt right and purposeful. Everyone raved about the food and one table actually asked for seconds-at a wedding! The florals were dark and moody and dripping from everything. The band had every single person on the dance floor. Once our night reached an end, we received a hundred photos Kim had secretly taken on her phone throughout the day-knowing our photographer wouldn’t be able to get us any for a while and we would want them. She is so in tune with what is important to couples.
I can promise that you will not regret placing your trust in Silver Thistle. Our planning experience turned from a burden into a source of joy and excitement the moment Kim stepped in. You don’t have to do it all alone, and you don’t have to sacrifice your vision. Kim is like a combination of cool aunt and fairy god mother and she is there to make it all better.

Kimberley, and Silver Thistle Designs, gave me and my now husband the most beautiful, true-to-our-style elopement I could have ever imagined. When I first started talking with Kimberley, she asked me to send her a pinterest board of inspiration for my day, and she took it from there. When I tell you that she surpassed all of my expectations, I mean she surpassed ALL of my expectations- the bouquet, the cake, the set up- all of it was a combination of all of my favorite elements from my board, but somehow better. Not only that, but Kimberley was such an incredible comfort to have from the start- she touched base with us consistently from the second we reached out to her until the moment she handed us coffee on our return from our sunrise hike on the day of our elopement. Kimberley has such a calming presence, and was a constant source of reassurance that things were handled which took so much stress off of us so that we really could just sit back and enjoy our day.
Pictures tell a thousand words, especially when it comes to design, but I’ll try my best to paint a picture of the day that Kimberley created for us. After our sunrise elopement, which Kimberley supplied the most STUNNING bouquet for, she met us at a beautiful secluded beach nestled between the mountains, where she had set up a picnic laid with geometric blankets and wicker baskets. We ate pastries and fruit and sipped our coffees, and it allowed us to have such a beautiful moment to soak in our day, and we are eternally grateful for those memories.
Later that day, we headed out to the COOLEST luxury campsite that Kimberley helped us find, had dinner, and then walked back down to our tent where Kimberley had set up the most incredible cake stand and floral arrangement. We danced to Coldplay, we ate cake off of each other’s faces, and we read letters from our friends and family. We laughed, we cried, we tripped over my dress. At the end of it all, with Kimberley’s help, our day became so much more than what we had thought of as a typical elopement. Instead, it became a day filled with all of our favorite traditions, framed by beautiful details, that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. -

Kimberly and Diane were outstanding! I have worked with many wedding planners as an officiant. They ran the wedding I officiated at the weekend America went crazy over the coronavirus. They are professional, level-headed, sincere, and make everyone happy. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to do your wedding! -

We hired Kimberley about a year in advance of our wedding and we did the full service package. Kimberley was amazing to work with! I am an event planner myself, but have never planned a wedding. I knew I could handle all the logistical things myself, but definitely needed someone with a designer eye to make it look beautiful and that is EXACTLY what Kimberley did! Me being super type A, I knew many things that I wanted, but Kimberley was able to suggest things that I would have never thought of myself. She was also amazing day of. I did not have to worry about one thing. There was a small hiccup when the ceremony was set up wrong by the venue, but Kimberley went out and fixed it herself! Her designer eye made my wedding more than I ever expected it would be. It was so beyond beautiful and I could not have done it without her! -

I don’t think words are enough to truly thank you for making our dreams come true. To have found you, in the chaos of it all, and you not only understand our story, but also understand our vision and bring that to life, is beyond me. You were so patient, yet saw through those small details I thought I may need, and pushed me towards what you knew I would want, and what you knew would make me happy, but I didn’t think was possible. I am not what I would consider traditional, and you made my off the wall ideas seem welcomed and exciting. I am in awe of everything about every part of both our rehearsal and especially our wedding day. I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. Everything was perfect, perfect, because of you.
I remember walking into both Deep Eddy and Prospect House, looking around and laughing. I just knew nothing could be as good as what I had built up in my head, yet somehow, it was better.
The day of our wedding, I kept coming out of the bridal suite just to watch the process in awe. Nothing has ever made me more happy than to see our vision come to life. To see what you thought would be amazing, blow your mind, because it’s more than that. To have all these elements from our travels entwined with so many design aesthetics, we only talked about, because I had never seen. You allowed me to trust you to run, and man did you run! Everywhere I turned that night, you were there, keeping us relaxed and stress free. Allowing us to enjoy our day. Making us feel so loved and special. I don’t know if I can ever say thank you enough, but THANK YOU. We are so grateful to now have you as a friend, and apart of our lives forever. You are a true visionary. -

Stop what you're doing and book Kimberley/Silver Thistle! I booked the essential package, because I had a pretty good idea of my vision and what I wanted and the vendors I planned to use from the start. Kimberley jumped right on board my crazy planning train and was able to help me fill in all the details that I forgot about the month+ out. She was AHHHH-MAAAAY-ZINGGG on our wedding day. We had a wild group and she was so professional yet fun and kept everyone in check for ceremony time. Her assistant was sick the day of the wedding and I had probably 15-20 boxes of decor that she magically unpacked and perfectly placed BY HERSELF in just a few hours. I saw the venue transform from a blank slate into the most beautiful romantic boho dream I could have ever imagined! Seriously, my husband and I miss her already...I told her I was going to get married again so we could have her around some more! hehe :) If you think you have the perfect timeline and everything is perfectly planned out for your big day and you can do it all by yourself the day of and still enjoy yourself...you're wrong honey! I am a severely, oftentimes annoying OCD planner, and I could not have done it without Kimberley. I see now, after looking back on our big day that a planner is a MUST in order to feel stress free and happy on your wedding day. Thanks again Kimberley!
