We had the absolute pleasure of working with Pink Wasabi team as our stylist, planner and a day of coordinator. The planning process was very smooth and stress free. From the beginning we didn't want to have a regular white or blush wedding but the style, color palette that will stand out, and we were absolutely blown away by the styling, color choices and linen, glassware, china rentals that were introduced to us by Pink Wasabi at our style sample meeting. Add florals carefully picked by their partner Flower Fanatic.
Then the day of hit us with torrential rain. We don’t know how, Pink Wasabi team did it under terrible conditions and heavy rain. They managed to pull off the impossible and kept everyone cool and calm throughout the chaos. Even though they had to deal with a horrible weather, we were pleasantly shocked to see that everything was set, decorated and ready on time for our ceremony and reception. And it looked stunning! I can't say enough good things about Pink Wasabi. They went out of their way to make our day as seamless as possible no matter how many things were thrown at them. Highly recommend and anyone getting married needs to hire PW as a fulltime planner! Believe me, it's money well spent and will be worth it. -

Heaven sent team
I will forever be so grateful for Shari and her team of what I call heaven sent wedding planners!! From the first call I received until the morning call of my wedding day, Shari made sure that all of our needs and worries were taken care of. She is extremely professional, stylish, and not only gets the job done but goes above and beyond to make your day absolutely magical!! Shari not only did my planning but she did the entire decor of the ceremony and reception. I had an outdoor wedding and the morning of until a couple of hours before the ceremony it was raining, she arranged everything within a few hours and pulled it all together so seamlessly. I am still in awe. Everything was so much more beautiful than I could've ever imagined. THANK YOU SO MUCH for creating the wedding of my dreams!!! -

We prioritized finding a Black wedding planner for our Miami wedding, and we found an absolute gem in Shari and the entire Pink Wasabi team! We purchased the Peach Wedding package. Shari is knowledgeable about South Florida wedding venues, and from the start offered her candid advice about her experiences working with different venues (for example, what they represented online to couples vs. what they actually offered). Unfortunately, we ended up choosing a venue and catering company that hit both Shari and us with a number of unpleasant and unexpected surprises throughout the latter part of our planning process. Shari and her team shared in our frustrations, but often jumped in to negotiate on our behalf and to take over communications when things got too heated between the venue and us as the couple. Shari and her team went above and beyond to improve our experience with the venue/caterer (even offering extra labor, in some cases), but a number of things were totally beyond her control. Despite these truly annoying, expensive, and infuriating odds, and a chaotic few weeks leading up to the wedding day (mainly thanks to the shenanigans of the venue) Shari and the Pink Wasabi team (Barby! Colleen! Marisa! Vicki!) delivered us the most beautiful wedding day possible--beyond our hopes and expectations. Our wedding was a dream, and it was so authentic to my husband and I as a couple.
To us, Shari and her team work best when they can have full or almost-full creative control of the wedding planning process--especially vendor selection. They have established relationships with wonderful vendors and insider knowledge of the industry, and when a venue/caterer is very restrictive about these dynamics, it makes Shari's job harder than it needs to be and often times, more expensive. So for engaged couples hoping to hire Shari, be aware that venues with overly restrictive stipulations or rules on what your planner can or can't do will affect your experience. We recommend working closely with Shari during venue selection to try to avoid these issues or at least prepare for them in advance--it will keep everyone happier!
Shari has excellent taste in decor and styling, and offers her valuable perspective and advice on your wedding day vision. But, importantly, she also knows when to respect your wishes and let you do your thing (so long as you are okay with the consequences!).
If we were to offer any constructive feedback, we would say that Shari is BUSY! Her services are in high demand, and you may be one of a large number of couples demanding her time and attention, especially due to the weddings on her books that were delayed because of the pandemic. Dealing with the logistics of pandemic weddings, and venues trying to recoup lost costs from 2020, adds another layer of stress to the wedding planning process. As a couple without a ton of wedding experience, we didn't really know what to expect at each stage of the planning process. Shari's wedding package descriptions are very detailed, but don't include timeframes for what happens when. Providing couples with a timeline of what to expect and when (or when it's reasonable to start asking about X, Y, or Z!) would do wonders to ease anxieties. Alternatively, if you're a couple looking to hire Shari, consider asking for a timeline like this, or checking in with a list of questions at important intervals that feel right to you (perhaps 8 months out, 6 months out, 3 months out, and the like). Our extremely difficult venue and Shari's packed schedule made the weeks and days leading up to our wedding feel more chaotic than anyone would've liked (Shari and her team included!).
Overall, we were happy with our wedding planning experience with Shari and Pink Wasabi, and we were thrilled with how came together on our wedding day. The Pink Wasabi team executed on every thing we envisioned, and our guests have not stopped complimenting every aspect of the wedding--the florals and decor especially, which were squarely in the Pink Wasabi wheelhouse. I got married in April 2019 and it’s been on my to-do list to post this review for some time now and I’m finally taking the time to sit down and do it!
I’d like to start by saying Shari (the owner) is a really sweet person, she went above and beyond to make my actual wedding day BEAUTIFUL, and it was! My review is based on the actual planning process which caused us a little more stress than i would’ve hoped. We purchased the Peach Package which was described as a partial planning package designed for a bride who wants to have a hand in the process, but still depends on the planner for vendor connections, general guidance, styling and day-of coordination. Pink Wasabi is very much a young business and i think i went into the process thinking they were more experienced/connected than they were, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. In hindsight many of the photos and stuff I’d seen were from her styled-shoots not actual weddings, again not a bad thing but i think just speaks to the process. In some ways the freshness was amazing, nothing was cookie cutter or super done-before which we LOVED, and honestly is what drew us to Pink Wasabi. In my case however, it ended up putting me at a slight disadvantage when it came time to secure vendors. Her networks are largely based in the Miami/FLL area and my wedding was held about 2 hours north in Jensen Beach, FL. We disclosed this prior to booking, as we already had secured our venue, and she stated that it wouldn’t be a problem at all. Unfortunately, when it came down to it though, she could not really recommend me any vendors within that area, and majority of the vendors in her somewhat small network would of course require hefty traveling fees because they weren’t based there. This was stressful as we were planning a wedding from out of state and not familiar with the area much either.
Engagement was really high in the beginning of the planning process then began to die down quite a bit as she began to take on more projects. While nice to have frequent contact, I realized that her time was being split so initially I didn’t see it as a problem per se, as we had plenty of time (we’d booked her a year out). However, by about 4 months out from the wedding date, i realized we hadn’t seen any concrete design plan (including costs $) and i began to panic. At this stage all we had was a mood board. None of the bulk items (tables, chairs, place cards, entry signs, table cloths, favors etc.) had been discussed. After all but begging for this stuff to be ironed out, we received a design plan and were left having to find ways to come up with additional funds to make the vision come to life. Albeit beautiful, we had been asking for a full design outline from very early on so that we could could establish an appropriate budget for it. Unfortunately by about 3-4 months out there wasn’t much we could do.
Our biggest frustrations definitely grew from the timeline of everything. Whenever i would express how worried i was about the timeline i would be told “not to worry about a thing”. Considering that we would hopefully only do this once, we had so much riding on proper pre-planning which is why we hired a planner and started a full year out.
While the process did cause us some undesired stress, when it was all said and done, we ended up having a gorgeous wedding day. Pink Wasabi really stood out on the day of! (they stood-out but were invisible at the same time 😉). My family and friends are still raving about the wedding. And although there were some hiccups in the planning itself, i still believe they (Shari and Barby towards the end) went above and beyond to make our wedding day beautiful and memorable. 💕 -
