Beautiful, large venue, overall good service, with a few challenges
The Omni was a gorgeous location to have our 200 person wedding - not only did they have beautiful grounds, but also a variety of ballrooms depending on the size of your event. In addition to the surroundings, it is a huge hotel and because a large majority of our wedding guests were from out of town, they had enough room so that all of our guests who wanted to stay were able to and get the room block rate. Omni provided the food and alcohol for our wedding, so you aren’t able to use outside vendors but we got rave reviews from our guests about the appetizers, entrees, drinks, and even the mocktails!
We did have a few issues with the event staff, so make sure to thoroughly read all of the contracts and don’t be afraid to ask questions and get clarity. The Omni knew we had a wedding cake, which we thought they would be cutting to serve to guests, but because there was one piece of language missing from the contract, we ended up with a two tier wedding cake uncut the following morning. We also had personalized tea cups for our guests that were part of our tablescape so that they could take them home as a souvenir. Due to miscommunication and lack of the hotel’s coordination with our wedding planner, at the end of the night the hotel staff cleared the cups from the tables and many guests were not able to take them home. The Omni ended up running the cups through an industrial dishwasher which caused the custom calligraphy to come off on about 60 cups - which was a sunk cost at that point because our calligrapher wasn’t able to salvage them because of how damaged they were.
Also, if you plan to pay for any of your guests’ rooms (i.e. your parents, officiant, etc.) please make sure the Omni has your payment method on file and make sure they know not to ask the guest for a card on file when they check-in. This happened to our parents and a few other guests for whom we were covering their hotel costs. We even told the hotel we wanted to pay for their rooms but we ended up having to retroactively pay our guests back for the incurred costs. This seems unprofessional for a hotel that often handles large conferences and events.
The hotel has such a large number of guest rooms, it is an ideal venue for a large wedding with out-of-town guests. Ted, our hotel wedding coordinator, was attentive and helpful the day of and the service staff during the reception were great. Overall, we absolutely loved our wedding day at the Omni Shoreham - the grounds were stunning for our ceremony and the ballrooms were perfect for our reception and after party. -

We loved the Omni Shoreham!
We got married in the fall of 2024 at the Omni Shoreham and it truly was a beautiful venue. We selected the Omni because of the outdoor spaces, the ease of having food & beverage through the same people as the venue, and our love of the back garden for the ceremony. We chose the blue room for our reception, which was a great space and felt separate from the rest of the hotel. Omni does all the catering and bar services in house which made things simple for us -- the food was amazing (we still have guests tell us how good it was)! Omni will try to upsell you parts of their package so definitely keep an eye on what items are in the base package and what upgrades will cost. With that in mind though, all of the Omni staff, chef included, will work with you on figuring things out that might not be technically in their offerings -- just ask and they will help figure something out! The only hiccup we had is that Omni's in house event coordinator ended up leaving part of the way through our wedding planning process. It was a bit difficult to get a new point of contact from Omni and even through our wedding they had not hired a full time replacement. Because of this there was a little chaos in the planning and coordination but overall I would highly recommend Omni as a venue! -

Beautiful Wedding
Our wedding at the Omni Shoreham was really beautiful. The venue itself is stunning. We used the gazebo and garden space for our ceremony, as it is one of the only venues in DC proper that allows for a wedding with a large number of guests in an outdoor setting for the ceremony, while also having indoor spaces for the cocktail hour and reception. We also appreciated that there was a clear rain plan for the ceremony (an indoor ballroom). There are multiple ballrooms available for the reception and cocktail hour, and they all feel very unique and very DC, not just cookie cutter hotel spaces. Booking the hotel was seamless, and the final product of our wedding also went 100% smoothly with no issues. We really liked the food, the service was great throughout the event, and the hotel provided AV equipment for our ceremony, which went smoothly. There were also some nice touches included in the wedding contract, like cold towels and water for guests for the ceremony (which was appreciated for a summer wedding in DC). We did have some issues in between our initial booking and our wedding with our designated point person at the hotel, which frankly made us very concerned about how our wedding would go. However, these issues are not worth detailing, as this person has since left the hotel, and everyone else who worked on our wedding after she left worked hard to make sure that any issues we'd had were rectified (Ashley and Steve were great!). Ultimately, our wedding was flawless, and we're so happy we went with the Omni Shoreham Hotel. -

Absolutely Amazing
I honestly can't recommend Omni and their staff enough! Steve and Ashley, especially, went above and beyond to make our wedding a success. Even when it rained the day of our wedding, they came through with a back-up plan so that our ceremony was as elegant and sophisticated as it gets. What an incredible venue and team! Highly recommend! LOVE them. -

Best Wedding Venue in DC!
The Omni was the perfect wedding venue for our 140 person wedding! We loved the mix of gorgeous outdoor and indoor spaces and the whole day was picture perfect! The staff at the Omni went above and beyond to make our day special and were very accommodating to all of our requests. The food was delicious and the service was top-notch! I highly recommend the Omni and the whole team (Dave, Gary, Kaitlin) to anyone looking for a fantastic wedding in DC! -

Perfect!!! Best Venue in the DMV with a lot of outdoor options!!!
The Omni was the perfect wedding venue! They were amazing to work with during the pandemic. Scheduling and rescheduling was so easy. Every time I talked to the Omni during the pandemic they put me at ease and made me feel special. Bob and David are a great team!
My guest all said they had never been to such a beautiful wedding. The Omni needs very little decorations which is great for your budget. They handle all up lighting in house and at a great price. The food was amazing!
I looked at every hotel across the DMV and the Omni hands down was the best.
I also looked at the hotel rooms where my guest would stay. I looked at the suite I would get ready in. A lot of the other big hotels at the same price range did not have a bridal suite. Or the hotel rooms for my guest were old. We wanted a experience for our guest and the Omni gave it to us.
When you pull up to the Omni or look at the outside it looks like a old brick building. Just walk into the front door, it will blow you away.
Also all weekend the entire staff from the front desk and the valet made me feel special.
All of our bartenders and servers all weekend were the best. They looked out for me and my husband.
The Omni’s entire staff knew I was the bride and made me feel special all weekend!
Tia White and the front desk staff were awesome and put my guest all near each other. If they saw me hug someone in the lobby they ensured their room was close to our family. I have never had such an amazing reservation and front desk staff for any event.
Just book the Omni you will be so happy!!
Also there is a lot of outdoor options for guest!
And your photos can all be taken at the Omni! All my photos attached are from the Omni grounds. -

Unmatched Professionalism
We booked our original wedding date with Omni for Summer 2020. They were the first venue we toured, and while we toured a few other places to make sure we did our homework, our hearts were set here from the get go and I couldn't be happier. Throughout the entire coronavirus pandemic, I have been able to be in touch with an experienced representative from Omni, Breanne, who has been absolutely fantastic. She has reached out to us separately to keep us updated, and has been completely forthright with us regarding the reality of how our wedding would play out at various stages of reopening. We opted to push our date to 2021 and she was so prompt with giving us a list of available dates, and also allowed us to put a soft hold on a new date so we could coordinate with our vendors. We've happily settled on a new date for 2021, and I have no doubt that it will be the wedding that we have been dreaming of.
I couldn't be more pleased with the proactive assistance and unmatched professionalism of the Omni Shoreham Hotel, especially during the uncertainty regarding coronavirus pandemic. -

Wedding of our Dreams
We had the wedding of our dreams at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Leading up to our wedding, we spent our time focused on mechanics, hiring vendors and thinking about things: flowers, food, beverage, music, décor, invitations, ceremony scripts, etc., and we hadn’t honestly given a lot of thought to how much service could matter. Nevertheless, the Omni Shoreham staff brought excellent service and it permeated every aspect of the hotel and our experience. We were blown away.
We primarily worked with the Omni’s Kelly Crowley. Our ideas were benefited and enhanced with her experience, leading to a great plan, and she was there on the day-of to make sure it all came together flawlessly. She helped with suggestions for our ceremony entrance, the room layouts, and décor selections. She facilitated our non-traditional tasting and worked with us through all of the other mechanics. She was very professional and personable and seemed to be good at understanding and getting through our pre-event anxieties.
The food preparation and the accommodation of our guest's various dietary restrictions were excellent. The food and beverage team was top notch. Our banquet captain, Herb Cupo, was very kind and attentive, the perfect mix of being in the background and stepping forward and guiding us and taking care of us when needed all the way through the reception. Before the wedding, our cake happened to suffer a minor mishap during delivery, but the Omni had the in-house expertise to perfectly touch it up – with no request or involvement needed from us.
While it might otherwise go without staying, I’ll add that our guests had good things to say to us about their stays and we especially enjoyed our roomy wedding suite. We had great interactions with everyone we encountered working at the hotel, from luggage handlers, to front desk, to housekeeping. -

Beautiful venue!
We got married at the Omni on 4/27/19 and it was perfect! The outdoor venue is GORGEOUS! Working with Shannon and her team was so easy. She was responsive to emails and met with us as much as we liked. We had our dream wedding and our friends and family LOVED the hotel! The room were just renovated and are so beautiful. Kelly Crowley was the best coordinator, catering manager, FAQ answerer, and sounding board for our wedding! The Omni Shoreham staff overall was a class act and our day couldn't have went any smoother! They made us feel so special and were busy bees behind the scenes which made the event seem flawless! Our wedding experience at the Omni was perfect. The Blue Room was the ideal size for our 200-person party and the private veranda adjacent to the space didn't hurt! Our guests loved the secluded gardens in the background and our large extended families & friends really enjoyed having the reception and hotel rooms all in the same place. A big perk for us was getting to retreat to the bridal suite prior to the reception to unwind for a minute. We had a balcony that provided the most amazing views of the city plus some of our favorite pics. I would pick this venue again in a heartbeat and loved every second of our wedding weekend at the Omni! -The Metzgers, July 2018-

We had our wedding at the Omni Shoreham on 5/27/18. Despite rain preventing us from having the outdoor ceremony we planned, it was perfect. Shannon Stowell was a dream to work with through the planning process and on the day of! She understood we were holding out hope for an outdoor ceremony and set up the garden and a backup room for us so we were prepared for both options. We did a room block at the hotel so we were able to enjoy the whole weekend with our family and friends at the beautiful hotel also, and Mackie was great at keeping us up to date on our blocks reservations as we got closer to the wedding. The staff was very accommodating to our wants and needs, the food was excellent, drinks were great and me, my husband and all of our guests had an amazing experience over all!Omni Shoreham Hotel's reply:
Congratulations on your marriage, Kelly!! We're thrilled that we were able to be part of your big day! We appreciate your kind comments about Shannon and Mackie - we're delighted to hear about your interactions with them both. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to give you the wedding of your dreams. We wish you both the best!! -

We live in Cleveland Park and wanted a "destination wedding in the neighborhood" and the Omni delivered. Bryan Stiffler was absolutely fabulous and made everything run flawlessly. We had the most amazing weather for an outdoor wedding in August. We had about 100 guests, so we used the Diplomat ballroom and it was perfect, guests could come and go from the ballroom to the outdoor terrace to the patio with fire pit so easily. An unforgettable wedding! We are still getting thank you's, texts and emails two weeks later from guests telling us how amazing everything was. -

We hosted our multi-cultural wedding weekend at the Omni and had all of our expectations exceeded in a huge way. The venue itself is incredible - aside from being a historic property in DC, the numerous ballrooms for our cocktail hours, Indian wedding ceremony, and reception, outdoor gazebo for our western ceremony, and driveway for the baraat were all perfect. But what made the event really phenomenal in our eyes was the staff, led by Bryan. His attention to detail and hyperfocus on making sure that the couple and families have the best experience are unlike anything we have seen. From the time he came on board, through the wedding, he was responsive, present, and always found a balance between just making our wishes happen and presenting creative and improved ideas of his own (or just surprising us). On the day of he was everywhere at all times, and again, not just for the couple but for the entire family as well. The little details and touches really made our day. His talent flows through the rest of the team at the Omni, as every member of the staff who we dealt with treated us like royalty and made sure we had everything we needed at all times. Herb was with us in the evening and for the after party and was fantastic in bringing the night to a close on a high note. In addition to our own catering, we had the Omni prepare a few hors d’oeuvres and a few plates for the dinner, all of which were delicious. Weather presented a little bit of a challenge for us early in the day, but everyone at the Omni supported us and worked tirelessly to make the day beyond anything we could have imagined. -

Our wedding reception and cocktail hour at the Omni was truly special! Kylan, our catering manager, was extremely thoughtful and thorough and was an amazing asset prior to and during the big day. Our passed hors devours during cocktail hour were perfect and inventive and truly pleased ALL of our guests. The room was set up was exactly as discussed and Kylan went above and beyond went our cake failed to arrive. I recommend this venue highly! -

We recently had an outdoor wedding at the Omni Shoreham and I cannot imagine a better venue. Bryan, Herb and company were excellent to work with throughout the process, and the results were absolutely tremendous. Every guest we had could not stop commenting on the beautiful outdoor gazebo area, the fantastic cocktail hour and the wonderful room and service we had for the reception. The staff truly cared about our experience and went far above and beyond to ensure that our needs were taken care of, while also making sure that each guest felt special and had a great experience. Kara, our room block manager, did a great job keeping us abreast of how things were shaping up and was able to accommodate us at every turn. The hotel was extremely easy to work with during planning and never said no to any request. Another plus - the food is *excellent*, so you should not feel like you have to sacrifice because you aren't able to do outside catering. Herb gets a special shout out for being such a courteous and gracious host during the night of the wedding - he was absolutely fantastic, and a big part of the overall experience.
After the wedding was over, many of our guests remarked that it was one of the better weddings they've ever been to - while I'd like to think it was because of us, it was actually because of all our vendors, with the Omni Shoreham being the biggest of them all. We can't thank them enough, but as a show of appreciation, I hope that you consider them for your big day. You will not regret it. -

Dominic Sanchez at the Omni was incredible to work with throughout the entire process. He was an incredibly patient with all our questions and a great mediator between my mother and myself, who often had different visions for the day. Dominic even helped us achieve our dream of having a Venezuelan arepas sandwich bar at the cocktail hour. The venue was beautiful the day of the wedding. We were so happy we chose the Omni! -

We just had our wedding at the Omni Shoreham this past weekend. I never wanted to have a wedding at a hotel, but then we we starting planning, we realized due to our Hindu/Christian fusion weekend and multiple events (Mehendi, Sangeet, Christian Wedding, Hindu wedding, Reception, farewell brunch) we needed to have a place where our guests could stay and attend all these events. Omni was perfect. It has so many unique and beautiful ballrooms that it felt like each event was at a completely different location! It was a simply magical place to have a wedding. Our guests were treated so well all weekend as were we. We worked with Dom from Omni who was fantastic. Always responsive, very professional, and treated us so well for the weekend. Kara, our room block manager, worked miracles on our behalf. Our guests have rave reviews of their stay there. The grounds are also beautiful whether you have your wedding there or just some photographs. If we could do it all over again, we would choose the Omni every time. Especially if you are having a Hindu wedding and all the specific things that come with that (outside catering of Indian food, fire, etc) they are so accommodating. Strongly, strongly recommended. -

The professionalism and dedication of almost everyone on the Omni staff toward making our big day "picture-perfect" stands as one of the most memorable aspects of our wedding -- not just for us, but for many of our guests as well. Dominic and Herb were nothing short of outstanding -- from the very start of the planning process through our actual wedding day.
They helped to shape our vision for that day, and once we had formulated it they meticulously went above-and-beyond the call of duty to make that vision a reality. We cannot possibly say enough about the entire catering department. The food and service were everything you'd expect from a luxury hotel.
The only shortcoming we experienced at all was with a block room reservation for a key member of our wedding party -- which was handled quite poorly through a series of snafus that really never should have happened at all. But we realize that was probably one of those rare flukes that almost never occur. All in all, booking the Omni Shoreham as our venue was among our very best choices that we made. -

Having lived across from the Omni Shoreham for several years, my mother and I always remarked about what a perfect place it would be to get married. When my husband and I finally found each other and I was involved in the wedding planning process (but no longer living across the street) we went back to seriously explore it as an option. Well, it was everything we hoped for and more! It is such a classically-styled, grand hotel -- absolutely beautiful interiors and grounds. It also has the benefit of being extremely conveniently located (just off Rock Creek Parkway and minutes from Dupont Circle) but having the feel of being in the countryside. Our wedding coordinator at the hotel, Dominic Sanchez, was just great and made everything stress free! Our guests enjoyed how relaxing it was to just come downstairs for the wedding. It was summer time, so they were able to take advantage of the pool and outdoor sitting areas in the off time. The set up for our ceremony in the garden was beautiful, as was our indoor/outdoor cocktail hour on the terrace. I wouldn't change a thing about our wedding -- and when we went back to stay a night for our first anniversary they treated us so wonderfully! All the staff is really thoughtful and professional. I can recommend the hotel without hesitation! -

We just celebrated our daughter's wedding at the Omni Shoreham. We worked with Michael Schneider. From the first phone call last August 2013 to this past weekend's magnificent experience, Michael was fabulous to work with. He was generous with his time and ideas. He was enthusiastic about our wedding planning process and flexible as we decided which ballroom, which menu, which guestrooms, and all the other thousands of decisions that you make as you approach the big day. Most of our guests were from out of town and made a holiday of the weekend. We all felt like we were at a destination wedding in the middle of Washington, D.C. Our guests all loved the hotel and commented repeatedly on the friendliness of the Omni staff.
The venue is gorgeous. It doesn't hurt to have Mother Nature on your side in the middle of August! At both the cocktail hour and the reception, the food was delicious and the service impeccable. We would highly recommend Michael and the Omni as you plan your wedding. -

Dom Sanchez was amazing to work with. He really did an A+ job! He was quick to get back to any emails we had through the whole process and on the day of, he made sure everything looked amazing and ran smoothly.
As well, the gentleman (I think his name is Herb) who assisted us with everything during the reception (told us where to walk, handed the microphone to people, told us how to cut the cake feed each other, etc.) was AMAZING as well. He really made sure everything ran smoothly.
Both my husband and I were really impressed and we would recommend the Omni Shoreham to anyone who wants a beautiful location, great food and great staff. -

When I first walked in to the Omni and saw the gazebo and garden in the back, I thought there would be no way I could afford this place and the gazebo could not possibly be available for me to book. But it was! I worked with Dominic who was absolutely fantastic in working with us on picking a date and room that worked for us. Every little question we had - small or large - was answered promptly and clearly. Dom was so easy to work with and made us feel special. The food was amazing - all our guests commented about how good the food was and how beautiful the outdoor area was. It was truly a dream come true. Thanks Dom!
I gave the Omni 5 stars, but I will comment on having a couple issues with the hotel room block - in which some of our guests got mis-informtation about the hotel block being full when it was not and guests being entered for two rooms instead of one.
If you are looking for an outdoor area in the city with a quiet atmosphere - this is your place. The gazebo, fountains, garden and patio were beautiful and the rooms were just updated and ours looked fantastic. -

Our wedding at the Omni Shoreham in October was perfect. The gardens in the back of the hotel proved to be gorgeous for pictures. Dominic, the wedding planner, was always available to answer any of our questions, and did so promptly! The venue itself was beautiful, and the hotel provided very nice linens and catering as well. The catering staff went above and beyond on our wedding day to make sure all of our guests had what they needed, and gave extra attention to the bridal party as well. We received many compliments from our guests about how beautiful the ballroom was and how amazing their dinner tasted! The entire process was seamless from start to finish, and we look forward to going back to the Omni each year and reminiscing about our amazing wedding there. Thank you to everyone at the Omni for a very special evening! -

"Wow, wow, wow!" Those were my words when I first saw our beautiful wedding reception at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Everything at this venue is absolutely top-notch. The ballrooms are gorgeous, and our guests are still talking about the food. Above all, the service was incredible. The staff at the Omni Shoreham truly went above-and-beyond for our wedding, from the moment we first toured the venue. I still daydream about our beautiful reception. Worth every penny. -

The staff at the Omni Shoreham were so gracious, so meticulous with every detail, so tremendous in the implementation of our vision...it was absolutely wonderful! Dominic Sanchez was incredible to work with - he was flexible, visionary, and truly made everything come together in the end that made it a wonderful day. Herb Cupo...well, there is not enough kind words to express my gratitude. Herb was so attentive and unbelievably stealth on the wedding day.
EVERYONE should check out the Omni Shoreham for their wedding venue. You can't go wrong. You definitely get what you pay for. The quality of service is exceptional!

I was one of those girls who picked their reception site as a child and having my reception here was my dream. The Omni was the first venue we looked at and although I was forced to look at others we all knew this was the place. Everything was absolutely perfect! We started looking over a year out and Lori Amery was amazing from day one. She always kept in contact about everything and the hotel had some coordinator changes while we were planning(we dealt with Haydee at first but then Dominic) but you would never know. Everyone was up to date with everything we had done before the changeover and Lori facilitated it fantastically. As wonderful as the planning was, the day of was even better! Lori, Dominic, and all of the staff were AMAZING. The food was phenomenal. Our guests are still talking about how great everything was and it's 2 months after the wedding! You definitely get what you pay for. I think what made things even more special was their attention to detail. My husband and I had a specialty drink that my husband created and they did everything in their power to make it perfect(and did!). There were a few things that my husband loved as well.. 1. TEMPURA SHRIMP. 2. All he needed to do was turn and the staff were there asking him what he needed(they were super attentive). 3. Everyone was SO friendly and professional. 4. We got plates sent up to the room after the party so we could eat after the event. 5. Did I mention tempura shrimp? I think he was more excited about that than getting married. :) All in all the Omni Shoreham is an absolutely amazing venue and if I could do it all over again I'd still choose to have my reception there. -

The Omni Shoreham is a perfect venue if you're looking for a combination of an outdoor ceremony and a indoor reception. The garden/gazebo and the empire ball room where our ceremony and reception took place was breathtaking. The staff was extremely helpful from the moment we arrived and my point of contact, Dominic Sanchez and Lori Amery was incredibly responsive to all my emails. They worked extremely hard to make sure all of our needs were met.
I had two tastings to assure that all the food met my expectation and at the second tasting, the chef nailed all of the recipes I provided to them. On the night of the wedding as I walked around to all the tables to greet my guest, everyone was telling us how great the food tasted. After the wedding, the groom and I continued to receive compliments by email about how great the food was. The flavor of the food was very important to me and the catering department nailed it! Some of my guest are already talking about having their future events there because of the location and the food. Thank you for making our wedding amazing! -

My experience working with the staff at the Omni, food and beverage services, and accommodations staff was truly first class. At first my husband and I weren't sure if we wanted to book a wedding venue to serve as both the ceremony and reception sites, but we saw the outdoor gazebo, water fountain, and gardens, we fell in love with it all and decided to have both onsite at the Omni.
During my experience my main point of contact was Dominic Sanchez. He was absolutely amazing to work with. He made the whole experience worthwhile. He had excellent ideas, put me in touch with fabulous vendors he recommended, was extremely responsive, professional, courteous, patient, and I always felt he genuinely had my personal interests in mind. The day of the wedding, I know he was put in a tricky position - with balancing the very hot conditions outside, with our interest in still wanting our wedding ceremony to take place outside. He worked with my wedding coordinator to devise a new plan that kept hotel staff and guests cool, and limiting everyone's exposure to the heat. He was absolutely fabulous, and our guests are raving about everything. Dom remembered details from our conversations, and left nothing remaining or forgotten.
We had a first class experience working with other hotel staff as well. Our food tasting experience far exceed our expectations in terms of service and quality. The staff were courteous, friendly, and professional. We had white glove service all the way. Staff who helped us with booking our room block were friendly and efficient as well.
Our wedding day turned out to be one of the best days of our lives - a huge success with no regrets - and everything we could have dreamed of. I highly recommend the Omni Shoreham Hotel to any bride and groom seeking a first class wedding experience in Washington DC. If we could do it all over again (and we had such a fabulous day, we wish we could!) we would choose the Omni Shoreham and wouldn't work with anyone other than Dominic Sanchez. If you work with him at the Omni, you will truly have a great wedding planning and wedding day experience. Our guests loved everything about the ceremony and reception. They are still raving about the food and service, calling it an A++++ wedding!
Another benefit to having our wedding at such a historical hotel that's been around for 80 years is we know it will be there for years to come. And we look forward to visiting often, likely for our anniversaries, and reliving our magical day.

The Omni Shoreham was a dream place for us to have our wedding and we are so thankful we were able to have our wedding there. We were treated wonderfully by the staff and especially Sarah Kennedy who was our main contact for our wedding. She organized everything we needed for the big day and everything was impeccable and flawless. The hotel is classy and elegant. The outdoor gazebo is gorgeous and the Empire ballroom was perfect for our reception. The bridal suite we stayed in was fit for a King and Queen with views of the National Monument, a large balcony and ample rooms to get ready in on the big day. The food was absolutely top notch - esp the filet mignon. Day of, not only did we have Sarah to help us, but Herb Cupo spent the day with me as well as our parents ensuring all of our needs were met and my dress train was gorgeous at all times. He brought me water all day with straws in it to make sure my lipstick would remain on and his demeanor was so very calm and friendly which helps ease any wedding day nerves. These were things we had not expected in any way. We had a morning after brunch which was also wonderful. Our time spent there will and how we felt because of the service will never be forgotten. Thank you for a perfect wedding! -

My husband and I were married on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Woodley Park. It was the best day of our lives! In the beginning of our search for a venue, I envisioned getting married at a museum or some other building in DC, but after some more research, I realized a hotel is definitely the way to go. Everything you need is available in one place. From the moment we walked into the Omni Shoreham lobby, we were hooked. It was absolutely gorgeous. We went outside to the gazebo that looks over Rock Creek Park, and it was so beautiful! The Omni Hotel has the largest outdoor space in DC. We went with the Palladian Ballroom with the Diplomatic Room for the cocktail hour. There is a cute terrace that connects the two, and overlooks Rock Creek Park. It’s a perfect space. We had a great rain plane in place, which is key since we ended up having to hold the reception indoors due to rain. We got married in the Diplomatic Room and used the Birdcage area, that looks out over the pool, for the cocktail hour. Even with the rain, I didn't care, I loved both set ups so much. It was perfect!
Abby Wells was the catering director, and she could not have been more helpful. She had a great attitude and was so easy to work with. She was patient, kind, creative, and flexible. She is the best! We were so thankful to have her by our side on our wedding day. Herb Cupo was outstanding. He was there every step of the way to make sure we felt at ease-making sure I had water right before entering the room for the ceremony to making sure we followed all the right protocols through out the night. Thank you to the Omni! We could not have had a more perfect wedding day! -

I got married on October 8 2011 and the Omni, and myself had spent about 10 months planning my reception. I am Catholic so I got married at the Immaculate Conception church (also the only church that allowed me to get married at 4pm) but had a beautiful and exquisite reception at the Omni. We had 206 guests in the blue room and they provided the dance floor and the food. My bridal party and I had exclusive waiter/bartending service while everyone was at cocktail hour and we were taking photos. I had William Grace (best wedding planner in DC!!!) as my right hand man keeping the whole day flowing smoothly and helping me decide every detail (which can be very overwhelming)! The ballroom was decorated beautifully! Clevette Colclough was amazing and incredibly sweet! All the people at the hotel are NICE and very accomodating. I stayed in the bridal suite Friday night and Saturday night which was awesome because most of our guests also stayed at the hotel. We were able to acquire a $149 rate per night at the hotel. We had a lot of out of towners so we were taking up a lot of rooms. When the reception ended, Sean (the groom) and I were welcomed with Red petals and chocolate covered strawberries and champagne in our suite which was large! I actually got ready in the suite on Saturday Morning and there wasnt a mirror for my hairstylist to use in the room so we called the front desk and they found us a large mirror we could use! They were so accomodating.
The only thing that was a little hectic was that their booking systems sort of crashed and people had some problems checking in on Friday night. But the Omni was still able to keep organized and on top of everything. The Omni also gave us 4 free nights at one of their properties either in PA or Cancun Mexico for having our reception there. NO ONE else will offer something so special to you - I am sure of it! They really know what they are doing here and really care about making you happy and giving you what you want!!! It was an amazing experience and I wish I could do it all over again!!! :) -

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Omni Shoreham and Abby Wells, senior catering manager! They made my wedding day the best day of my life! Because of Abby and her team, I was able to enjoy the day, my guests, my party and most importantly, my new husband. I opted not to have a wedding planner for my wedding and planned everything myself. I could not have done this without Abby and her team. Her team ended up being my day-of planners and in the end having a planner would've been an extra unnecessary expense. They were also great at working with all my different vendors and made sure to set up everything with them far in advance. I did not have to do any last minute communication at all. I highly recommend the Omni Shoreham for your wedding. Thank you so much to the Omni Shoreham, Abby Wells and her team for making the best day of my life possible! -

My husband and I got married at the Omni Shoreham on 5/28/2011. It was truly the most amazing day of our lives. It was perfect, and exactly what I have forever dreamed of. It was the perfect setting. The gardens in the back overlooking Rock Creek Park are what hooked us at first, along with the gorgeous terrace, the grand staircase, and the beautiful fountain that leads down to the gazebo in the garden (where we were married) which all together looks like a setting out of a fairytale. Once we got the grand tour of the hotel and learned more about it's history we fell in love. My husband and I are both from the MD/VA area and we've lived in DC for quite a while, so we truly wanted a traditional DC wedding. The Omni Shoreham was the perfect setting.
We worked with Abby Wells, our contact at the Omni, she was AMAZING! She is the sweetest person in the world. She is so much fun, and had amazing input and suggestions when we needed it. She was key in putting our day together, she helped make it all happen! She was on top of everything, she made sure my wedding planner had all the information she needed, and she made sure that our day turned out to be what we wanted it to be. I can't thank Abby enough for all she did.
The service at the Omni was phenomenal. From the wait staff, to the concierge, to the bellhop, to Abby, everyone was so kind and very very helpful. The food was incredible! We had an amazing sit-down tasting of all our menu options prior to choosing our actual menu. The food was delicious, our guests raved about it! We have a choice of entrees for our guests, filet, chicken, or salmon, all of which we heard amazing reviews.
The cocktail hour was held outside on the terrace just off from where we held the ceremony. It was amazing. The reception was in the Empire Ballroom, which turned out to be even more beautiful than I ever could have imagined, thanks especially to DaVinci Florist and Lighting (see review) who made the room look like a platnium wedding! Our band Rocked (see review for Retrospect), and again, the service and everything came together thanks to Abby and the Omni!
We were on a budget, so from financial standpoint (after doing a lot of research and after going on many visits to lots of DC hotels) it was obvious that the Omni was the best venue, with the best service, for the best price, hands down! I highly recommend the Omni Shoreham!!! -

I had my ceremony in the gardens of the Omni Shoreham and reception in the Paladian room in the hotel. The venue is amazing I received so many compliments on the beauty of the gardens, terrace where the cocktial hour was held, and reception room. I was looking for a very DC venue and with all the history of the Omni it was the perfect location. I worked with William Grace for the majority of the time prior to his departure and he was amazing and responsive and worked with my budget. Other venues I contacted ignored my calls and emails once they heard I had an actual budget. The staff at the Omni are so friendly and amazing to work with from the staff that served us the food at the tasting to the Banquet Manager, Herb, who took the time to get me some water while I was waiting to make sure I was hydrated.
I was weary of the food since hotel food doesn't have the best reputation but I was happly suprised how deliscious everything was and how flexible the chef was who created anything I asked gor including mini burgers, tater tots, and whoopie pies for a late night snack, pecan pie for dessert per my husband's request (his favorite), and white sangria for the cocktail hour.
I ended up getting married on a Friday which helped with the food and beverage minimum significantly which can be a little pricey. So if you have a budget don't rule out the Omni. I also used the majority of their vendor recomendations all who were amazing. Overall it was a fabulous experience working with the Omni and we had an amazing wedding! -

My husband and I could not be more thrilled with our experience at the Omni. We originally picked it because it has an outdoor patio space that was perfect for cocktail hour and the ballrooms that are a little unique. However, we didn't expect such a high level of service and were totally blown away by the whole experience. Sarah Kennedy was our catering manager and did an amazing job. She spent a ton of time with us in the weeks leading up to the wedding making sure that everything was perfect. We heard from a number of guests how much they liked the hotel. We were given the royal treatment the entire time we were there. Overall, I would recommend the Omni to anyone. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding experience. -

Every step of planning my wedding was effortless because of the staff at the Omni. I started planning our wedding with William Grace. He guided us through the process and never put pressure on us to spend more or over our budget. The Omni is so beautiful that it does not need many other bells and whistles. When William was offered a fabulous job opportunity a month before our wedding, many brides would have flipped - but the Omni was so professional, I knew that his replacement would make my day wonderful. In walks Abby Wells. She is top notch, willing to go the extra mile and wants to make sure that the bride and groom are happy with the decisions without stressing over tiny details too much. She was a pleasure to work with.
I also have to give huge props to the staff in reservations and rooming at the Omni. Ellen Campbell handled our room block of 50 rooms during peak cherry blossom period splendidly. All hotel bags were delivered to the room on time. Every guest mentioned what impeccable service the hotel provided overall. It was a DC classy wedding and the Omni helped to make that happen. I do not regret choosing this venue for one second. -

All I have to say is William Grace is truly the best at what he does! The Omnishoreham is the most breath taking place to have your wedding in DC and coupled with William makes for a truly extraordinary experience. They go above and beyond for their customers and are true professionals at what they do. My husband and I are very big on customer service and the Omni carried this out the whole way through. It rained on my wedding day and ordinarily I would have gone into a huge panic, but William put me at ease and made sure I was still able to have the outdoor garden wedding of my dreams in time before the rain hit and moved the cocktail hour indoors without me having to worry about a thing. Whenever I sent him emails or called him his response time was always extremely quick, which I greatly appreciated. I had a lot of out of town guests and they couldnt help but say that my wedding was the best wedding they have been to and the best wedding food they have ever had. William created a great duet of filet mignon and chicken for my guests that everyone raved about. In the Washington, DC area weddings by far are not cheap, but the Omni gives a great package that is extremely valuable and doesn't leave you feeling you didnt get your money's worth. I truly recommend William and the Omnishoreham for any happy couple that is planning a wedding!! -

We had our reception at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, and the evening could not have been more amazing. From the beginning of the planning process, we worked with William Grace, who went above and beyond to help us, provide advice, and make sure everything was taken care of exactly to our liking. He was absolutely fantastic! The other people at the hotel who we worked with exceeded our expectations as well, including Ellen Anderson (she worked with us on gift bag delivery and the brunch the morning after the wedding) and Herb Cupo, the banquet manager (he was incredibly attentive the night of the event and made sure everything went off without a hitch). While the Omni is indeed an expensive venue for hosting a reception, it is a) first class and b) similarly priced to other luxury/higher end hotels in the city. Also, William really worked with us to make sure we had an exceptional menu that also worked within our price range; he was incredibly flexible and helpful. All in all, we can't say enough good things about the Omni and the staff at the hotel. Our day was just perfect, and I would highly recommend speaking with William Grace if you're considering having your ceremony and/or reception at the Omni. -

The Omni is an absolutely beautiful hotel. I loved my ballroom!!!
William Grace is a FABULOUS person to work with. Since the first day I met him he has been the most helpful person throughout my wedding. Any questions or concerns I had, I would call or email him and would get a response within a couple minutes. The day of my wedding went wonderful due to William. The day of the wedding our waiter Herb was just as fabulous. He was always checking on the bride and groom to make sure everything was ok. Bottom line is having your wedding at the Omni Shoreham Hotel is highly recommended especially is you are dealing with William Grace. He is FABULOUS!!!!

We had our wedding at the Omni on October 17, 2009. From our very first meeting at the Omni Shoreham in November 2008, all the way through to our wedding day, the entire team at the Omni was nothing but attentive! My husband and I could not be more pleased with how our wedding day turned out. William Grace, the hotel wedding consultant, was beyond helpful and always returned every email and call within minutes. He was full of information, hints, and tips and his work was invaluable to us. The rest of the Omni team was great too. Vanessa, the room coordinator always wrote back within hours with up to the minute information about our room block.
Although our wedding day was a rainy, cold day, the setting at the Omni was anything but cold. The room looked phenomenal, the food was fantastic (honestly, my favorite part about wedding planning was my tasting at the Omni Shoreham), and the staff went above and beyond. We cannot recommend this venue enough. Everything they did helped to make our wedding the most perfect night of our lives. -

Think fairytale!!!!! My family has lived in DC for three generations. We have been to ceremonies and receptions in every hotel in the city and it is no exaggeration to say the Omni Shoreham is the most magical and best kept secret in Washington DC! With sweeping staircases, unparalleled gardens with a gorgeous gazebo and pool, above ground palladium windows in a ballroom with hand painted landscapes on the wall, a ball room that look exactly like the east room of the White House, big grand ball rooms for lots of people, small intimate ball rooms for a romantic affair, each ball room is distinctive and has a personality all its own. The front may throw you at first, but trust me walk inside and youll be sold. From this moment on, you will have stepped into a hotel steeped with Hollywood glamor and Washington tradition. This hotel is like a box of Godiva chocolates incredibly rich, decadently romantic, and each option is lovelier than the next.
My husband and I were married in the summer. Our wedding ceremony was held outside in the courtyard, and felt like a midsummer nights dream. Honestly, there is no more beautiful backdrop in the city. With rock creek parks trees as the background, it feels like a wonderland. It is an oasis in the countrys capitol. People have not stopped telling me that our wedding was the best they have ever been to, not just because of the view, but the food, service, everything was INCREDIBLE. Every season has a differently allure at the Omni. In the winter they have bonfires and lights, the spring and summer GORGEOUS flowers, and in the autumn foliage. It's a dream.
The Omni has the ability to take your vision and make it a reality. If you are lucky enough to get William Grace as your senior catering manager, you have it made. This man is MAGIC. As an artist working in film, I like to think that I have creative vision, especially where my wedding was concerned, but Williams experience and expertise took my dream to new heights. We moved into the Omni for our wedding, and didn't want to leave! We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after party and day after brunch all there.
William and the amazing crew at the Omni, created an atmosphere fit for a queen (a really hip queen for that matter). I could write for pages about the experience, including a fine dining bbq with ice sculptures of the Washington monuments, or our black tie affair with food on par with any 5 star restaurant. The wait staff and service was like a throwback to the Great Gatsby. Seriously, have your whole wedding there from Rehearsal to Wedding Brunch! Not only is it incredibly convenient, its eco-friendly too! Its like a weekend escape; with all of your guests appreciating that they can change and rest whenever they need to! Not to mention, for what you get, it is very fairly priced for you (in addition to your guests!). Any other hotel in DC of this quality, does not offer the rates, options, beauty and hospitality that the Omni does. Honestly, this is the place you have been dreaming of, call William today.

We had an amazing experience with the Omni. From start to finish it was everything we thought it was going to be if not more. The gazebo area was breathtaking for an afternoon ceremony. Our event planner Lori kept up with all the pre-wedding plans. She answered when we emailed or called also she was helpful when we asked for her advice. Putting the menu together was a lot of fun and the tasting was great. On the day we received everything we had agreed on in earlier meetings. The quality of food was exceptional even for the pickiest of eaters. Our guests are still talking about how good the food was specially the crab cakes which we had for an appetizer. The Omni staff were flexible when dealing with us, they were able to pull together when the timeline changed on the day of our wedding. Our ceremony ended about 20 minutes earlier than scheduled (it was a hot day) and they were able to change the schedule accordingly and maintain the flow of our day taking us from the ceremony through the cocktail hour and into the reception without a hitch. We had a great day and so did our guests. I recommend this hotel and their staff. We were really happy with the outcome and would work with them again. -

I had an amazing experience at the omni. The wedding coordinator was great - she promptly took care of all of my requests. The service was amazing. There were 1-2 waiters per table, ensuring that my guests had excellent service. No one's glass was every left empty. The venue itself is gorgeous. The ballrooms we used do not compare to many other hotels in DC, they were distinctly different. The hotel staff was helpful and prompt. The bridal suite was huge. Overall, I think that we definitely got our money's worth here. It is a little pricey, but compared to other 4 star hotels in DC, it is by far the best. -

We loved having our wedding at the Omni Shoreham! For the price, we feel we got a great deal. It provided a beautiful, extremely classy setting for our guests and made the whole weekend feel special. We did our ceremony in the garden out back and it was *gorgeous*. I highly recommend doing that. Our cocktail hour was outside on the patio and our reception was in the Empire Room.
The banquet manager, Dominic Sanchez, was fantastic throughout the process. We were extremely happy with him - he made the Omni choice that much more valuable. He was always super-responsive (honestly, does that man sleep?) and had a can-do approach to any and all requests. He never made us feel like we were asking too much. He has a great knowledge of the property and its equipment. We were so impressed with him! He felt like a true partner in our wedding planning process. Our wedding planner didn't really hold her weight with the final month of detailed planning, so having Dominic on our side was a lifesaver.
The food tasted great and the menu was upscale. A number of our guests (including my husband and I) had food restrictions, and they were unbelievably accommodating.
The only knock against the Omni is that there were a number of errors in our final bill. These would not have been resolved had we ourselves not gone through every page in detail, double- and triple-checked, etc. The difference totaled over $2000! I would not have expected such errors after the high quality of service we received throughout the process.
That said, otherwise we had a great experience at the Omni. We can't wait to see our pictures which are sure to be beautiful thanks to the setting. Many guests told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Overall a great choice -

From start to finish Dominic and staff could not have been more professional or more of a pleasure to work with. Every request we had or issue was dealt with immediately. The venue is simple gorgeous and in addition the food was great and yummy and elegantly served! They even down kept the hotel
Bar open for us after hours so that we could have an after party where pizza and wings were served and were excellent! Thank you Omni for making our daughters wedding a beautiful event that will not be forgotten !!! -

You must hold your wedding at the Omni Shoreham. Dominic Sanchez was the epitome of relaxed professionalism and he and his team made the day perfect. Herb, the catering captain, also ensured that we were happy and relaxed the entire day. The location is beautiful and the pictures (by Katie Norwood at LoveStruck Images) are amazing. We posted a few on facebook and complete strangers asked our friends where this gorgeous wedding was. We loved the old school elegance and service we received. After a long night, we came back to the room to find a dinner and wedding cake waiting for us. I only gave 4.9 stars for professionalism because the actual reservations staff was a little discombobulated at times ( told our guests our room block was full when it wasn't due to a mix up) but with events there are bound to be little issues and importantly, they fixed little problems quickly and efficiently so that our guests barely noticed. The food was surprisingly good - our families expressed their shock at how tasty it was in comparison to other hotel's food. The lighting from Michelle Mann and her team at the Omni, whom Dominic recommended, was flawless -as was the entire day and our memories. You will absolutely not be disappointed at the Omni. -

The Omni Shoreham was the absolute perfect place to get married! Everything about it made it the perfect venue. The beautiful ballrooms and grounds, the food, the amazing service, the location and the package made it the best celebration ever.
Haydee Gamez was above and beyond the most professional, kind, easy to work person with the most positive attidute of I have ever met in my life. She had only been at the Omni for a few months when we met her in September to start finalizing details and with her knowledge and how she took ownership, you would have thought she had been there for years. Everyone at the Omni was always quick to respond to any emails and phone calls. During the wedding the staff exceeded my already high expectations and Haydee was on hand to see things through.
I wanted to get married in DC to have a place for the out of town guests to enjoy and have an easy place for the in town guests to get to and I didn't want a ballroom in a basement. The Omni was perfect and the Out of town family appreciated the proximity to the metro as well as the zoo and other places in dc. The ballrooms were beautiful and loved the big windows all around and balconys. My guests alos loved the uniqueness of the historic hotel and the rooms and the grounds.
The food was amazing. We were blown away by the tasting and the choices we had and we appreciated the flexibilty in the salad to add a new componet. The hor dourves were my husband's favorite!
The only issue we had was with our room block but that had to do more with the 1-800# and Haydee and the team at the Omni tried to resolve as much as possible when we notified them of the issues.
Choosing a venue was one of the most important choices for the wedding weekend and I am so glad that we choose the Omni Shoreham and had the opportuinity to work with Haydee! -

Elegant, regal, and beautiful venue!
First the good: Kelly was amazing to work with from the get-go. She was very responsive to emails and phone calls and answered our questions. She, Herb, the banquet manager, and their team executed the reception flawlessly. The reception space was exactly as I envisioned and everything ran smoothly – even when we fell behind schedule – all thanks to them! The best part about having my wedding at the Omni was the convenience of a hotel room block for our many out-of-town guests, the beauty of the space, and the food. The food at the reception tasted the same as it did during our tasting three months prior. My husband and I highly recommend lobster rolls, beef tartare, and lamb chops (all of which our guests loved) during cocktail hour, as well as scallops (each guest who had them raved about them all night) and filet mignon for dinner. Herb took great care of us throughout the night and was incredibly thoughtful. When we cut the cake, he let us use his family’s heirloom cake server that has been passed down from generation to generation for over 90 years. We were so touched by his care and thoughtfulness.
Now the not so good (but also not terrible): The room block was opened sporadically – some rooms were ready at 10 a.m. while others were ready at 2 p.m. or so the day before our wedding. This meant some of us had to rush to get ready for rehearsal. Some guests commented that more food could have been circulated during cocktail hour. However, we had a plated two-course dinner, followed by cake and a dessert bar, as well as late night snacks so I think it balanced out and people had enough to eat. One other thing that bugged me is that we were charged for the breakfast in bed the following day which was to be included in our wedding package. This could simply have been a miscommunication between various hotel departments, but it’s still a little annoying.
Overall: It was a wonderful experience to have our wedding reception at the Omni Shoreham. Rooms were reasonably priced and recently renovated – which guests loved – and there’s a lot of history at this hotel. My husband and I loved the outdoor patio space with its "secret garden" feel and the elegance of the Diplomat Ballroom. It was everything we envisioned and a magical, memorable night!-

Kaitlin Felix was out hotel contact / coordinator and we couldn't have been more lucky to have been paired with the perfect person. Kaitlin was calm and comforting throughout the process from the beginning (when we toured and we're 'researching' places) the the end (wedding date!). She made sure all the appropriate boxes were checked and completed and was on hand whenever we needed her -- including the wedding day all through the end of the reception. To say the Omni provides an idealic setting with white glove service is an understatement because they literally did. I would highly recommend the Omni to anyone looking to be pampered throughout and well taken care of. -

Our ceremony and reception were held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. We had a wonderful experience with Dom Sanchez, his team, and all of the hotel staff that worked with us up to and during our time at the hotel. Dom was extremely responsive and flexible. He was knowledgeable about ethnic/mixed ethnic ceremonies so the communications with him were understanding yet creative. They found the perfect ballroom for our reception and were able to accommodate all of our unique needs. The food was delicious and the guests enjoyed their stay. I gave them a slightly low rating in one category for two reasons. One is due to the fees involved with some of the services, i.e. the $2K cost for using the outdoor ceremony space and fees for delivery gift bags to guest rooms, etc. Just read all of your contracts (hotel or otherwise) with a fine tooth comb so you are aware of all the individual costs up front. Also wish the facade of the hotel was more appealing (the outdated brick exterior) which matters only if you host anything outside and take pictures in front of the building. Other than that it was entirely worth it. Thank you Omni Shoreham! -

If nothing else you have to love this venue for the garden ceremony space. Our wedding was great and much of that was due to the staff at the Omni. Our wedding contact happened to be Mike Schneider who is also the Catering Director. He went out of his way to make us happy and that is just a phenomenal trait that most customer oriented businesses are missing. He was a great pleasure to work with and was so amiable to any changes we had.
On the evening of our reception, Herb was our banquet captain. He is the sweetest and most efficient man you'd want to meet. He was so prompt and anticipated anything we needed. It was such a pleasure working with him and Mike. I can't say enough great things about them.
The front desk staff was very nice as were the bellmen we encountered. The room service staff even moved the furniture back that our photographer moved for some photos. The bridal suite is AWESOME!! -

My husband and I had our wedding reception in one of the ballrooms at the Omni Shoreham and we couldn't have picked a better place! We worked with Lori Amery throughout the entire process, who was so accommodating, incredibly responsive, always willing to help..she did a wonderful job coordinating the whole event from start to finish. The Omni's staff were so kind and courteous and helpful (ALL our guests commented on the great staff), they went out of their way to accommodate our every request. Our package was an incredible value for the price we paid- although it is not a cheap venue, it is worth every last penny. The room looked gorgeous, we got a great promo rate for our guests for the weekend, we got wonderful perks for the weekend and more. I can't stress enough how impressed all our guests were with the hotel, their professionalism, the rooms, the gardens, the food. The night was perfectly coordinated and we couldn't have been happier with the Omni. We will DEFINITELY be booking at Omnis in the future! -

Ask for William Grace! He made our wedding perfect and made sure I was the happiest bride that ever walked the earth! The planning can take a lot out of the fun when your inner "control freak" kicks in........ but he made sure I was "cool as a cucumber" the day I said "I DO"!

Elegant and Stunning Wedding!
The Omni Shoreham D.C. Hotel is the perfect place to host an elegant wedding. With it’s historic architecture, grand ballrooms, gorgeous lobby, and perfectly landscaped gardens, it is a stunning setting to get married in Washington D.C. You don’t even feel like you are in the city once you step inside this gem! The bridal suite was not only beautiful, but roomy as well. I had 7 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and 3 hair/makeup stylists in the room on the wedding day, and everyone fit very comfortably. It also had a huge balcony and a gorgeous view of the gardens/ceremony space.
Not only was the hotel an exquisite setting, but with any luck, you will get to work with their catering manager, Kelly Crowley, to plan your wedding. Kelly was nothing but amazing every step of the way. From our very first meeting with Kelly, she told us we could have anything we wanted. She wasn’t wrong! No request was too small or big for her to agree to for our wedding day. I definitely have a type-a personality, and Kelly balanced me by being extremely calm and collected throughout the entire wedding planning process. She responded to emails and phone calls in a very timely manner, and always answered all of my questions with extreme attention to detail. Our tasting experience with Kelly and her team was unbelievable. We had 2 servers for a tasting of 5 people. We got to try all of our cocktail food choices along with all of our entrée choices. The portions were huge, and they even brought an extra plate to show us what it would actually look like at dinner service. They had 2 white wines, and 2 red wines for us to try, so we could choose which we liked for dinner service. They also had 2 champagnes for us to try. Kelly printed up the menus for the tasting and set it up at the place settings, like it was the actual wedding. It was all so elegant! We were blown away with this type of impeccable service.
On the day of the wedding, Kelly made sure everything ran smoothly. She checked in on me in the bridal suite in the morning, and kept her team working hard. At the end of the night, she sent up a beautiful card, champagne, and strawberries to my new husband and I. All of the food at the cocktail hour and reception was absolutely incredible! We had many guests tell us how delicious their meals were. The staff did a great job of keeping the drinks flowing all night.
There were a few small details, which is why this venue isn’t getting a full 5 star review. Upon check-in the day before the wedding, some of the rooms for our bridesmaids and parents of the groom were not ready until 3:00-3:30 p.m., with a 5:00 rehearsal. We had asked Elizabeth, the woman in charge of the room block to rush these rooms. We had to hover over the front desk to get these rooms ready. In addition, Elizabeth emailed us the getting ready suite numbers the week before, so we could let our vendors know where to report. She not only gave us the wrong suite number for the groomsmen, but the room number she gave us wasn’t even a suite – it was a regular room! This caused some confusion and anxiety as well, as we had to let our vendors know of the room change last minute.
Guests at the ceremony were supposed to get a cool towel and a small bottle of water (This was the end of September and pretty hot/humid) but this was forgotten. My parents were not satisfied with the cocktail hour passed hors d’oevres. They felt as though not enough food was getting passed around for guests. By the time the wedding party was finished taking photos, no more food was being passed. There was still a good 30 minutes left at the cocktail hour at this point. My dad had to chase down the banquet manager to tell them to bring out more food. Lastly, my parents noticed some tables did not receive their entrees during dinner service in a timely matter.
Many of our family and friends told us that it was one of (if not the best) wedding they have ever been to. Overall, we had a wonderful wedding experience with the Omni Shoreham. We would not have done it any other way! If you are looking for a garden wedding within a luxurious hotel in Washington D.C., look no further!

Beautiful setting, very responsive to my needs, really has that "old DC" feel and all of our out-of-town guests thought it was the greatest. Highly recommended. A few kinks here and there, nothing major, but nothing is ever going to be perfect. This was very close! -

My husband and I are extremely happy that we picked the Omni Shoreham for our reception venue. We had a lot of out of town guests and this was the perfect location for them to stay. The wedding rate was very reasonable and the hotel is large enough to accommodate all of our guests. We couldn't be happier with the hotel. We had our wedding at the Omni on January 2, 2010 and it was wonderful. The space was beautiful and the event staff extremely helpful. We had a couple of frustrations during the planning process where we felt a bit nickel and dimed or where we felt that we were not getting all of the necessary information at once, but for the most part is was very easy. We worked with William Grace - he was great. He helped us make decisions and I knew the day of the event would go smoothly because of him - which it did!
There was a slight problem with some of the rooms upon check in - my parents and Kevin's parents were not able to check into their rooms for several hours. Kevin's mom didn't even have time to shower before the rehearsal. So that was not very good, but the hotel upgraded them to presidential suites, has since been very apologetic and have offered to comp our rooms at another wedding we will be attending there.
Other staff (Herb and Matt) along with the servers and bartenders, etc were great. The food was wonderful and the atmosphere just what we wanted. We could not have asked for a better wedding. -

This was by far the most beautiful hotel we visited in Washington, D.C. and was a great deal for the elegance and quality of the event. This hotel has a classic DC feel and is located in the convenient neighborhood of Adams Morgan. For out of town guests, this hotel is a must!
The ceremony, cocktail, and reception spaces were all beautifully decorated and unique, so you don't have to spend a fortune sprucing it up! Best of all the hotel staff was incredibly accommodating to us from start to finish with their team lead Dominic Sanchez. They truly made me feel like a guest at my own wedding, and they gave us the royal treatment for our stay at the hotel on the night of the wedding. I felt truly spoiled! The only things to remember are that because it is at a hotel, there may be other guests floating around that could potentially "crash" your wedding if your crew isn't on high alert. It's definitely not cheap throwing a wedding here but the beauty of the venue, convenience, and absolutely delicious food is worth it! -

After initially getting dropped by our first vendor (Bethesda Hyatt), I was so happy to find the Omni Shoreham Hotel! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. When I first went to look at the Omni I was given an impromptu tour by Piper McPherson. She ended up being my room block coordinator which she was great at! She was so nice and showed me all the ballrooms that day. I then went on to look at other venues but based on my initial experience and the menu I decided to go with the Omni. Booking the Hotel was incredibly easy. The hardest part was figuring out the menu selections. William Grace, the Catering Manager, was so helpful at helping us make our menu selections. They were also very flexible with changing the menu (feta instead of goat cheese, etc). When it came to the actual event the food was even more amazing than at the tastings and everything was done exactly as I had asked! The wait staff was wonderful and everyone had a great time. Everyone loved the food at the Omni! I am still getting compliments about the food. The only problems I experienced were that we had a question with the bill afterward where we felt we were overcharged. It took a few conversations to settle this matter but eventually we were credited the amount we felt was owed. The last thing went wrong was that the bathroom baskets got completely raided! In fact, the men's basket was stolen! If I was going to do it all over again I wouldn't do bathroom baskets for my guests since the hotel is so large anyone can just come in and take. Overall the Omni is a beautiful venue with many different ballrooms to fit your needs and those of your guests! Even with the little bumps I experienced, I would still do it all again at the Omni! -

The Omni was absolutely wonderful. They have a gorgeous outdoor patio that is perfect for a ceremony and/or cocktail hour. Danielle Johnson was amazing. She would always get back to me within a few hours. -

This is a very difficult review to write because we had a bad experience from the start and ended with our dream wedding. Our experience with the Omni started off really bad...no returned phone calls, etc. In fact, from the moment I saw the Omni and the outdoor gazebo, I knew I wanted to get married there. They made it so difficult on us, we started looking elsewhere. Eventually we came back and signed the contract. Vanessa was a little difficult to work with at times during the planning process, but she made up for it the day of our wedding. The service at the Omni was exceptional. The waitstaff was professional, yet fun. The food was delicious and the Omni worked with us by making changes to the set menu. Eventhough we had some tough times with them, I'm so happy that we stuck with it! -

We used the Omni Shoreham for both our ceremony and reception. I must say. When we booked this hotel, we booked it based on beauty and menu. The person we first met with seemed only interested in making a sale. We had numerous problems, with this lady, because after booking us, there was another ceremony booked in the gazebo behind ours, which she did not disclose intially. She because very underhanded.
The person who stepped in, who stayed with us all the way to the end of our experience is WILLIAM GRACE! If you are booking a wedding at the Omni Shoreham, please, I tell you, book William Grace. He is amazing. He corrected all of the mishaps and trouble caused by our sales person. He was always there to answer questions, to recommend additional services. He has a can do, will do attutide. He makes the bride remember, it is her day and it has to be done her way. There is not a enough room on here to state how wonderful William Grace is. If he was our orginial catering/sales manger, I assure you, the stars up top would be 5 stars for every option. From our gazebo wedding, to our outdoor cocktail reception, to our ballroom. It was amazing!
Next, the food. We had a custom Caribbean Cusine menu. The head chef and the sous chefs did an EXCELLANT job. We thought they would come just close to what we were asking for. They went above and beyond. All in all, our wedding day was perfect! The Omni Staff was very attentive to us and our guests. It was money well spent, all under the direction of William Grace - Senior Catering Sales Manager. -

I have very mixed feelings about the Omni Shoreham hotel. Although Dominic, their catering manager, was very nice and accommodating, there was a lot that got messed up. First of all, the hotel was TERRIBLE with reservations. We had a block of rooms and our guests kept getting told that rooms were sold out and there was no space for them. They even told this to my now husband's PARENTS. I had to intervene on at least 10 occassions, contacting the hotel, and that is really unnecessary added stress for a bride planning a wedding. My family also wanted to pay for some of the rooms and we gave names and credit card info up front but the hotel DOUBLE CHARGED us-- charged our guests and charged us. It was despicable. They did upgrade my parents to a suite at no extra charge, although I think they probably had to considering how many issues we had with reservations. The location is stunning- I think the outdoor garden is what made our photos as beautiful as they were. They provided water to guests and were very gracious. That said, most venues don't make you pay for the ceremony location when you are booking your rooms there and Omni does. They were really great about letting us taste all our dishes and open to many suggestions, which was great because we are a mixed culture couple. other bad things: the AV person LOST our ipod, so we couldn't play anything during the reception (during band breaks), they served champagne ahead of time at each table, even though they knew we had kids tables. My husband's little cousin drank two glasses of champagne and got really sick. Finally, the hotel staff was supposed to announce dishes before they served them and they just dropped them on the tables. We had muslims and jews that ate pork unknowingly and were really upset. Dominic was nowhere to be found on our wedding day. The location is gorgeous but the service was outrageously bad. You can roll your dice and see whats important to you -

No one contacted me to tell me they were closing down
I was not able to hold my wedding here because of Covid. We were originally supposed to get married in April, so the Omni let us switch our date to October. That was great. But by August when Covid hadn't gotten better, I tried to call my point of contact and found out via voicemail the hotel had shut down. No one ever contacted me! I'm assuming the hotel probably furloughed the event staff but for an established venue, you'd expect some communication 2 months before your wedding.
After digging through really old emails I found the cell number of a catering manager and she passed me along to someone in charge who tried to assure me they'd be open by October, but it has come and gone and the hotel is still closed down. They were great about giving us a refund, but I was saddened by the lack of professionalism from the Omni. The food was also pretty bad...can't really expect much from hotel chicken and steak but we were pretty underwhelmed during the tasting for the price point. -

I was married on October 8, 2011 and contracted guest accommodations with the Omni. Given the inconsistencies in attention to detail in my experiences there, I warn that couple's to be aware of:
- My guests were charged $169 a night, not $149 as another bride the same weekend was charged...
-When our reception ended, we were not welcomed with Red petals...etc.
-The "personal" Omni contact was no where to be found the day of my wedding or the night before when I called to ask him for help.
-The day before my wedding, I went to my room only to find someone else already staying in it at which point, I had to leave for my rehearsal dinner having no hair done, no makeup done, as I had no where to get ready.
The Omni's reservation system crashed the day before my wedding =
1. They were not able to keep organized: my welcome bags were not delivered, 2. Incorrect charges on my credit card which, a month later, they did not refund despite numerous phone calls reassuring me that my card would be refunded that day. It caused my family to contest the charges with the credit card company.
3. Six different guests walked into rooms that were already taken.
In conclusion, I married the guy of my dreams that weekend. Does not having rose petals waiting for us in our room ruin that memory? Of course not. I am able to keep this all in perspective. But from a business stand point, the service was erratic and I am frustrated that a month later I am still having billing issues while calling different departments trying to get a phone call. If you are a Bride who is hoping for a fairly trouble-free, professionally handled wedding weekend you might be more likely to find it elsewhere.

First off, this venue is absolutely gorgeous if you're lucky enough to have your wedding outdoors in their garden/gazeebo area - although the cost to have your ceremony is quite steep at $5,000. Our wedding coordinator was not as detail oriented as one would like. She was great in person, but over email and phone - going over the details was painful. We had to continually clarify things, reiterate and remind her. She would quote one thing over the phone and totally say something different the next day. We quickly learned to get things in writing with her.
So on our wedding day, I have to say she really worked her butt off to make our ceremony run smoothly. The reception ... ran smoothly as well ... but our dinner was another story. Some of the salads didn't have candied walnuts, our intermezzo didn't have an almond cookie in it and the vidalia onion soup with lump crab meat - half our guests didn't get any lump crab meat!!
On top of that, when we returned from our honeymoon and checked our credit card statement, low and behold, we find that the Omni over charged us.
We are still trying to get that squared away, as well as compensation for the issues with dinner service. -

I loved the Omni Shorham outside Wedding Venue. However, the service was less than ordinary. So many things went wrong. I was extrmemly disappointed. They even served the Groom Crab- Which they were told on multiple occasions that he is allergic to crab. Many guest did not get thier welcome bags and even our holding room before the ceremony was double booked. Brides save yourself some trouble- I wouild pass on this venue. -

Proceed with Caution
Our wedding turned out beautiful, so it really pains me to think about how difficult the process leading up to it was. If we didn’t have an outside planner who was willing to fight for us every step of the way, I’m not sure our wedding would have ever happened. I wanted to write this review to let other couples know what they’re getting into by booking the Omni to be their wedding venue. You will be charmed by everything sales presents you during your tour and the beautiful gardens, but it will soon lose its luster unless you’re gifted with unlimited patience.
Our journey with the Omni started in 2019. We booked the venue and were forced to switch our date to 2021 once the pandemic hit. Our POC at the Omni changed six times during the course of our wedding planning and emails/phone calls were routinely ignored, even when we found out the staff had returned to work. I at one point had to email the hotel’s general manager to get someone to respond to me or my planner. The revolving door makes a lot of sense. There are a few people at the Omni who really want to make things happen for you (Ashley, Herb), but a number of people will actually say things like “that’s not my job” when our planner would ask a simple question, like could a high chair be added to one of our reception tables per our layout. It seems there’s a broader culture issue with how the hotel manages its staff that permeates through to its clients. The Omni seems to be resting on its laurels as a previously highly regarded venue, yet its reputation in the industry is quickly tarnishing. Here are some of the hotel policies that made me regret booking the Omni as our wedding venue:
- You may think you’re getting a good deal because the Omni provides everything to you in house. However, you will spend thousands of dollars on upgrades because the in-house items are tired and worn. Everything from the ugly brown chairs to the mismatched silverware (I noticed this at our tasting) is not up to standard when you’re paying close to $200 a head for your wedding. Ask to see all this at your tour. It may change your mind or your budget.
- The “premium” bar upgrade is far from premium. Ask to see the alcohol list. You’ll see Sam Adams listed under craft beer… We paid insane markups to customize the bar because we were not about to serve their selections. Again, you pay tens of thousands of dollars to have your wedding there, I’m not interested in having Coors light when they could have beer from local DC breweries, which is way cooler and more fun.
- You cannot bring in your own alcohol unless you want to pay a $20 corkage fee per bottle. For example, there was a local rum we wanted for sentimental reasons that we were willing to source through the Omni. The Omni tried to say a few days before the wedding they weren’t going to be able to get it. I reached out to the distillery’s VP of Sales, who personally emailed the Omni offering to hand deliver it as they do for all their deliveries in DC. There’s a certain point at which I had to call BS on things that I knew weren’t right, especially when you see the Omni boasting about these fabulous weddings they’re throwing on Instagram.
- Omni has an in-house AV provider. They were super kind and did a great job for the ceremony. They also wildly overcharge you for any add-on services. They were going to charge us $125 per uplight in the ballroom. Our band only charged us $40 per uplight. They were the same uplights…
- If you think you can ask the hotel to hand out a wedding agenda (literally a piece of paper) or gift bags to guests like every other hotel you’ve ever been to, think again. They will charge you $2.50 per room to deliver them to guest rooms and won’t guarantee delivery time, which means some of our guests probably got it after the wedding started. Additionally, they will only deliver them on one day, even if we paid them for multiple days - so for guests checking in another day, too bad!
- There is a black chain link fence behind the beautiful gazebo where your ceremony will be. It’s not noticeable in person, but it will be in all your photos. If the Omni thought ahead, they would plant boxwoods in front of this and it would never be noticeable. The day before our wedding there was wooden sticks and tape all over it. We had to ask to have it removed. Again, for the price you pay, some of these things just seem like they’d be taken care of.
- Our original contract stated that the ceremony fee would be waived because of the high food and beverage minimum we had. On multiple occasions the Omni attempted to charge us this fee. It was very frustrating to revisit this conversation constantly and then have them act like they were doing us a favor by waiving it, when we weren’t the ones who asked for it to be waived in the first place.
- A few weeks before the wedding the Omni attempted to add a 20% holding fee that would be charged to us before the wedding and would be used for any overages during the wedding. The remainder would be refunded after the wedding. This basically means they had carte blanche to spend that money during the wedding and we’d have no way to hold them accountable for overspending it as they pleased. Our planner had never heard of something like this.
- Also a few weeks before the wedding the Omni said they would not be able to help with setting up chairs and linens, even though they should be providing that as part of the contract. We had to fight with them to get staff available to do this as they weren’t willing to comp us the nearly $1,000 we would have had to pay our rental company to do it.
- So here’s where my stress really took off. I had attempted to call the reservation line to pay for early check in and late check out for the bridal suite. I was willing to pay the fee like any other guest and wasn’t asking for special treatment. I also knew there was no other bride checking in before or after me because the Omni has a second bridal suite. The Omni called back to say they couldn’t honor my request because “there were too many weddings.” I couldn’t check in early on a Thursday because you had a wedding…on Wednesday? Gets worse. A few minutes before my ceremony I was in the suite touching up. I heard the phone ring and decided to answer. Maybe it was an emergency and I should pick up in case someone had tried to call my cell, which was on do not disturb. I pick up to the front desk asking if I had requested housekeeping. Yes, my planner had requested they come at 5:30 when my ceremony started. The front desk proceeded to explain to me that the housekeeping staff was only waiting for me and they wanted to go home. Here I am standing in my full wedding dress - veil and all - minutes before my wedding ceremony and this person thinks it’s ok to be acting like I’m inconveniencing THEM? As we exited the suite for our ceremony, housekeeping was waiting outside the door anxious for us to leave. I’m not sure who was more anxious to be done with each other - me or the Omni. -

I had high hopes for the Omni, as they have a beautiful ceremony venue and the only real outdoor large garden at a Washington DC hotel, but their service as far as their front desk and management was appalling. My parents' suite was given away to another guest, my relatives were not able to check into their rooms until 8 pm on the night of our wedding (after the ceremony and cocktail hour) and we were moved to another suite at 1 am so that my parents would have our original suite to sleep in. Many guests complained to me about the high price per night ($190 which was reduced for us) for outdated rooms with a 'musty smell' that led most to ask for different ones. The front desk did not distribute more than half of our out-of-town bags, which had a brunch invitation tied to them, after I was reassured that this is common practice and something that is never a concern for them, so we paid for 120 people at our brunch and only 45-50 actually showed. They only refunded me for 25 persons, and offered me a weekend stay for my anniversary, which left us so bitter that I don't think we're even going. The sound at the outdoor gazebo during our ceremony was cutting out every other second, so most of our guests couldn't hear the ceremony, and we were forced to keep going when I turned around to look for a hotel employee to ask for help and NO ONE was out there to oversee. Amazingly, we were the only wedding that weekend, and they have 7 ballrooms! The only saving grace was that their dinner service was flawless as far as the food, because our banquet captain was very fast on his feet and completely in control. Our custom menu with two entrees turned out amazing. The hotel side of their business needs some serious lessons in customer service, and I did not feel as though our contact at the hotel did anything to better our room situation. I only received any refunds after 4 months of calls to my contact in the catering department when I decided to call their corporate complaints line. Also, I had all my large, elaborate flower arrangements moved to the brunch room at 2am, paying the florist extra to do so and made mention at several meetings with the hotel to ensure that they would reuse the flowers...we walked in to our brunch to see none of them. $4,000 worth of flowers were thrown away. Their answer? 'Not everything can be perfect on your wedding day'. Awful!! To anyone that wants to get married outside with a hotel reception, get married at a garden or something, and take your reception and guests elsewhere. For all the money we spent, we felt as though we would have been better off at a Ritz-Carlton. -

The managers at the Omni DC should be selling used cars. No, they are even too sleazy for that. Only have an event at the Omni DC if you are a masochist. The hotel managers delight in humiliating and verbally abusing their guests. (behind their backs)
They are also experts at talking through both sides of their mouths. Listen to what they say and realize that they mean the opposite. Apparently they get their power trip taking advantage of their guests.
If you want tohave a day to remember in infamy book the Omni- otherwize run as fast as you can to a reputable hotel with a professional staff. Save your money and ignore any deal you make because it won't be honored anyway.
A motel six provides much better service!!!!!!!!!!!! -
