    Dream Wedding

    Thanks to Joseph Lee, we had our dream wedding on New Year’s Eve in the Paris ballroom. Everything was beautiful and the guests loved their rooms. The food was delicious! The staff was professional and on top of everything!

    We loved our Hotel Monaco wedding!

    We got married in September 2024 and our wedding at the Hotel Monaco was everything we hoped it would be. We loved the Paris Ballroom and the 360 degree ceremony, the staff, the food, the bridal suite, the catering manager, and everything else. We had 205 guests, and we were worried about the space not being comfortable for that many. In the end, it was totally fine and everyone had enough space to dance. We toured several other DC hotel venues that could accommodate 200 guests, but the Paris Ballroom felt much more special and less corporate than other venues we toured. As a historical building so close to the mall, the venue was also a fantastic experience for our out of town visitors. The food tasting we had a few months before the wedding was phenomenal and gave us a lot of confidence that our guests would enjoy the food at our wedding. We thought the pricing at the Hotel Monaco was very transparent. We worked with Steven and Amy as our catering managers and were impressed with their professionalism and experience. They helped accommodate some special requests that we made to make our wedding a bit more personal. We are so thankful to them for making everything in the lead up to the wedding and the wedding day go smoothly.

    Total Package!

    The Hotel Monaco offered the whole package! Not only do you get the space, the catering, the linens, and the chiavari chairs, but also a venue coordinator! Steven was so easy to work with and made our day perfect. Our guests also enjoyed being so close to all of the museums and the national mall. If you’re looking for a quintessential DC/city wedding, I recommend the Hotel Monaco!

    Wedding of my Dreams

    We booked the Monaco during their off-peak months to get the venue I wanted with the budget I had. Though it was still top end of our budget, it was more than worth it. From the location to the facade, to the rooms to the ballroom spaces - everything really was perfect. It made for warm feelings and amazing photos. We stayed at the Hotel Friday and Saturday and the space was incredibly convenient as our suite was just around the corner from the ballroom -- but still provided enough privacy and quiet when we needed it.

    Joseph Lee , the hotel's wedding coordinator -- and all the hotel staff -- were next level. Joseph was so easy to work with and responsive. I didn't have a wedding coordinator at all and he made things so easy on the day. The other hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. I loved the space itself for our 100-person wedding.

    The hotel spaces were so unique and it just added to the cache of the weekend. Guest really loved staying there and being there. Book this place before it fills up - you won't be sorry!

    A dream wedding in the perfect downtown location

    From start to finish our planning and overall wedding experience with the Kimpton Hotel Monaco was outstanding. Joseph Lee was always prompt and thorough in his replies to all of our questions. He took time and consideration when helping plan all the details of our wedding. Natalie Ford was incredibly accommodating when managing our room block. The entire night went off without any issues and the venue itself was stunning. They had a huge selection to choose from for food. We loved the meals we chose. All our guests were served their meals promptly and their dietary restrictions were handled with care. The concierge and bellmen were so welcoming and kind. They made loading/unloading all our decor and gifts easy. The valet was also incredibly quick and managed our belongings and cars with care. The suite provided was gorgeous and provided the perfect amount of room for my small bridal party. The hotel was so wonderful my husband and I stayed an extra night to enjoy it all for a little longer. Would totally recommend.

    Incredible!!

    We had the most wonderful wedding that you could imagine at the Hotel Monaco. Joseph was the on-site wedding planner and he made everything so so easy and stress-free for us. The food was all incredible and had such a wide variety of options. The location for the event in the heart of DC would be tough to beat. The ballrooms are very stylish and all of our guests raved about the beauty the venue. Please do yourself a favor and visit this location and with Joseph if you are looking to get married in the DC area. You will not regret it.

    A Cut Above the Rest!

    Having our wedding at the Kimpton turned out to be the best decision we could have made. From the very start, the staff was communicative, forward leaning, and extremely professional. I'd highly recommend working with Joe, the venue coordinator, if his schedule permits. Joe was organized, efficient, and responsive during the many months leading up to our wedding. He was there on the initial tour, the food tasting, and the day of the wedding and was available to answer many of our questions either via email or phone call. Most importantly, the services that Joe provides, allowed us to forgoe a tradtional wedding planner and we solely relied on Joe and his staff. Additionally, the ballrooms were each beautiful in there on right, the wedding suites were huge, and having the wedding rehearsal, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and post-wedding brunch all in close proximity made the weekend seamless and efficient. I'd highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to make their wedding day memorable for both the couple themselves and the guests in attendance.

    Beyond our expectations!!

    Joseph and the entire team at Hotel Monaco are AMAZING! Joseph was so attentive, professional, and accommodating during the months leading up to the wedding. The ballroom is gorgeous. We received so many compliments on the food. We could not have been happier with how the day went!!!

    Exceptional Wedding Venue with an Outstanding Coordinator

    Classic beautiful venue with great service

    We worked with Joseph Lee, Director of Catering. He was phenomenal. He was extremely responsive, respectful, and flexible. He was great at keeping his staff on schedule. The venue is beautiful and the food is delicious. We had the best time at our tasting. I would highly recommend the Hotel Monaco DC for your wedding!

    Everything you want in a DC wedding venue

    We would have our wedding again and again at Hotel Monaco DC. We hosted all our events — rehearsal dinner at Dirty Habit to brunch in the Athens Ballroom the morning after here.

    It's a charming, beautiful, stylish, convenient, the-list-goes-on hotel! Our guests kept commenting how much they enjoyed both our event and their stay at the hotel. There are great photo opportunities throughout the building. Joseph and his team were amazing to work alongside for the year+ of planning. They were so accommodating for everything from the room block to food allergies for some of our guests. Delicious food, beautiful setting, so so so happy we got married here. Thanks HMDC team!!

    Would Get Married Again at The Monaco

    The Kimpton Hotel Monaco DC helped make my wedding day the best day of my life. We worked with Anais Haguet every step of the way, and Anais made the whole planning process very straight forward.
    We had looked at many other options for our Wedding Venue, many of which made the process seem daunting. At the Monaco, there were no "gotchya" costs or a list of add-ons a mile long that you would assume should just come standard. Many add-ons we considered with other venues were already built into how the Monaco hosts Weddings (think Champagne toast, complimentary cake-cutting, customized signature drinks etc.)
    Anais was available whenever I had any questions – always open to scheduling calls and promptly responding to emails. She worked seamlessly with our Day-of-Coordinator and other Vendors, and went above and beyond to truly understand each aspect of our wedding to help ensure it went off without a single hitch. Anais and the Hotel were also extremely accommodating and flexible to our requests, some of which were quite non-traditional.
    As for the venue itself, it is obvious that the venue is beautiful – it photographs stunningly and has many unique architectural features we didn’t find anywhere else. The food was absolutely delicious as well – we got lots of compliments from guests. Open bar selection was phenomenal, including their wines. They were also very good with substituting dishes for guests with food allergies and ensuring there wasn’t any cross-contamination. The staff – from the hotel lobby to the servers – were so incredibly kind, flexible, and patient with everyone. Of course, the location is great too – we had lots of guests coming from out of town and they were able to make a DC weekend out of their visit.
    I feel so lucky we were able to secure this venue for our Wedding. We’d highly recommend it for any couple who wants an unforgettable Wedding Day!

    Absolutely amazing and attention to detail was top notch!

    Joseph Lee is the best

    When searching for a venue, my fiancé and I wanted a space with a balance of history and quirkiness, and we struck that with the Hotel Monaco. Very little needs to be done to make the ceremony/reception space party-ready, as there are several wow factors already built into it (the columns, skylight, and colorful carpeting sold us). The convenience factor won us over, as well: being able to have the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one space (even better: all on the same floor) made the celebration run seamlessly, and we didn't have to worry about transportation from one venue to another. All of this was expertly orchestrated by Joseph Lee, who was incredible from start to finish. He made sure all of our questions and concerns were addressed, helped store some décor a few days before the wedding to make things easier on us, and was fully present the day-of to make sure it all ran smoothly. I'm pretty sure he even kept my mom's wine glass full at one point! The staff here goes above and beyond and are experts at throwing a beautiful event. Our guests were raving about the hotel for weeks, and we'll always be so thrilled we were able to host our wedding at the perfect space.

    Fun, gorgeous, convenient venue

    As soon as my husband and I saw the Hotel Monaco when venue hunting, we knew it was the right place for our wedding. It has the convenience of a hotel with the unique, historical DC charm and a fun atmosphere. We got so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was, and the guests loved having the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in one location. Many of our guests were from out of town, and the location of the Hotel Monaco is perfect because it's walking distance to the National Mall and very close to lots of other fun parts of DC.

    Joseph and his team were wonderful to work with. They were very accommodating, responsive, and professional. The food and drinks were fantastic, our ceremony was gorgeous, and everything went off without a hitch. Our guests who stayed at the hotel all gave rave reviews.

    If you're looking for a convenient, unique, fun wedding venue with good vibes and an amazing events team, look no further! Highly recommend.

    Historic Venue with Amazing Charm & Staff

    My husband and I were set on getting married at a hotel as our families are not from the area. We toured I would say almost every hotel in the DC area that could hold 140 guests and it was, for the most part, basement ballroom after basement ballroom.

    Hotel Monaco was the last venue we looked at and honestly wasn't high on my list as the images on the website didn't really pull me in (especially the carpet). But once we arrived for our tour, we both knew this was the venue for us!

    The hotel itself is extremely historic lending two gorgeous ballrooms on the 4th floor with floor-to-ceiling windows and ornate walls and architecture.

    We worked with a few Directors of Catering as with the pandemic came some turnover, but ultimately Joseph ended up being our DOC. He was extremely organized, so nice, and answered all of our questions along the way.

    Julian who was our banquet captain was fabulous.

    Our tasting was incredible! The chef was able to accommodate my dietary restrictions and in the end many for various guests.

    We got married in the Paris Ballroom in the nontraditional setup of using their stage at the end of the room. Our cocktail hour was in the Athens room and then we headed back to Paris for the reception.

    Our guests raved about the beautiful rooms, the amazing food, the specialty bride & groom cocktails, and the staff.

    Beyond the wedding, our guests loved staying at the hotel and again raved about the friendliness of the staff.

    We would 100% recommend Hotel Monaco to anyone!

    A hidden gem of a venue in D.C.

    After our original venue in D.C. was sold and all 2021 events canceled, we reached out to Hotel Monaco. We were on a time-crunch to rebook (only 8 months out from our wedding date) and the space was everything we were looking for: a location in D.C. that was classy, had history and character, and was within our budget. The events team was incredibly responsive and we had a signed contract within days. I was pretty adamant about not getting married in a hotel ballroom (I spend a lot of time in hotel ballrooms for conferences so couldn't imagine getting married in one), but I can assure anyone reading this that Hotel Monaco is *not* your average ballroom. The spaces (Paris Ballroom for ceremony and reception, and Athens for cocktail hour) are breathtaking and one-of-a-kind. Beyond the venue, the events team is incredible. I asked A LOT of questions and Natalie was incredibly responsive and helpful. Our package included a complimentary night in the presidential suite and a discounted rate for the night before the wedding, which made the perfect spot for me (the bride) and my family to get ready. And there were so many places within the hotel to get pre-ceremony photos! Our guests, most of whom were local to the D.C./Northern Virginia area, also loved that we were married at Hotel Monaco. Not because it was so close to home (which is what we thought they'd appreciate the most), but because they didn't have to travel from ceremony location to reception location to home. We had to keep adding rooms to our room block because so many people wanted to stay the night. We would book Hotel Monaco again in a heartbeat!

    Most Gorgeous Hotel Ballroom in DC

    First, the space. Both ballrooms at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco are breathtakingly beautiful. They are unlike the many windowless, cookie cutter hotel ballrooms you may have been in. The ceilings, moldings, windows, wallpaper, carpet, lighting fixtures, built-in and moveable furniture - it's all gorgeous. You don't have to do much to make the spaces special. Plus, the location is in the center of DC which was perfect for rehearsal dinner locations and out of town guests enjoying the sites.
    Second, the food and drinks are incredible! We were blown away by our tasting and were so nervous at how they would execute that level of quality when serving 120 servings. But there was no need to be nervous, it was just as delicious! Guests commented on all of it over and over.
    Lastly, the team at the Monaco is incredible. They were communicative with everything - site tours, catering, room blocks, rentals and more. The staff was attentive and helpful from unloading cars through departure. It was seamless and easy. Emani, our main point of contact, is leaving the Monaco but she was a gem! I'm sure with their high standard the Monaco will hire someone just as wonderful. Thank you for hosting our dream wedding!

    Wonderful experience!

    It was a pleasure to work with Buddee and he exceeded our expectations. Buddee and his entire staff were extremely professional and they truly made sure that we had the best day of our lives. We would recommend The Hotel Monaco and Buddee to any of our friends and family looking for a fantastic wedding reception venue.

    The process starts with Buddee tailoring our wedding day to our specifications, and making sure no detail gets overlooked. The menu tasting exceeded our expectations, and it was really nice to see and taste all the delicious food we had for us and our guests. Buddee even made recommendations to us based on our tastes and feedback to him. Buddee and his staff really went out of their way to provide what they called “signature moments” for our day, and it truly made a difference. And of course, the cocktail hour space and main ballroom are absolutely amazing. The domed ceiling and white columns made it the perfect venue with a “DC feel” for us to have our reception, while still having the convenience of a classic hotel. Once item we were concerned about was the food, since never having been there for a wedding. You always hear that the food is going to be good, but The Hotel Monaco blew us away. The food was fantastic, and we received so many complements about the food, the presentation and the atmosphere in general. The ballroom and the unique architecture of the hotel provided an amazing backdrop for pictures. One of our favorite pictures of the night was us on the spiral stairs outside of the main ballroom.

    When I first got to the bridal suite on Friday, I was welcomed by a phone call from Buddee personally, asking if we needed anything. The care and attention to detail that Buddee and his staff provided us was like nothing I have ever experienced. My fiancé and I were very confident leading up to the wedding that everything would run smoothly and we can say that every single thing was perfect. During the wedding, their “Chief of Staff” during the reception took special care of our table, and made sure we had everything we needed. They even took special care of our parents, which made it feel very extra special. We are very thankful for Buddee’s hard work and he helped make our wedding day the most memorable day of our life!

    Best Decision We Made!

    Booking Hotel Monaco was by far the best decision I made for my wedding. Buddee and his team made the process so easy for us, the food was great, the space was beautiful, and our guests had an amazing time. I was shocked at the level of service we received from planning to executing. There are so many highlights but I just want to list a few:
    1. Buddee took care of all the decorations and details. He scheduled a meeting three days before my wedding and asked me to bring the decor, including name tags, centerpieces, etc. I had so many items. When I arrived to the hotel, the valet team helped me bring them up, we went through the full day with Buddee, and then I showed him all of my decorations. He gave me a few suggestions on how they might set it up and then he took it from there. To me it was incredibly stress relieving to leave all of that up to his team. I didn’t have to do any decoration the day of.
    2. Buddee made my mother feel very special and taken care of. Which as anyone getting married knows is the most important part.
    3. The room we got ready in was beautiful. The staff were so thoughtful in bringing us appetizers and drinks to our room after the ceremony so we had a moment for just the two of us before the reception.

    I can’t recomend booking Hotel Monaco enough!

    Amazing Service at Hotel Monaco

    Hotel Monaco was the best choice my husband and I could have ever made for our wedding day. The location is superb; right next to a metro and surrounded by amazing things for guests to do before and after the wedding. The actual hotel is beautiful, a perfect mix of cool art deco design and classic D.C. design. I didn't hire a wedding planner or "day of" coordinator because the staff was so professional and on top of everything. I've never been to a wedding where food was brought out to every table at the same time-Hotel Monaco completely nailed it. Everyone raved about the food during the cocktail hour, dinner, and even the dessert was to die for. My husband and I plan on spending many anniversaries at Hotel Monaco because we had such a magical experience, most of which I can attribute to the amazing staff at the hotel. I wouldn't change a single thing and wish I could relive the day!!!

    Highly recommend Hotel Monaco!

    Having our wedding at the Hotel Monaco was one of the best decisions we could have made! The event coordination team is incredibly professional and took care of all the details during the weekend. Buddee is great to work with and helped us to think through all the details and then worked with our vendors to make sure the day went off without a hitch. We loved the space and the affordability and coordination efforts exceeded our expectations.

    We held our wedding ceremony and reception at the Hotel Monaco. The Monaco was the perfect venue. I fell in love with the beautiful skylight in the room and the uniqueness of the hotel. Our chuppah was under the skylight, and it was just perfect with the natural light shining through during the ceremony. Guests loved the food, saying it was the best wedding food they had ever had, especially the beef. The dessert was also delicious!
    The night went by seamlessly thanks to Buddee. He is extremely organized and knows exactly what he is doing. I trusted him completely throughout the wedding planning process. It was truly a perfect day thanks to Buddee and the incredible staff at the Monaco.

    We planned our wedding in under 3 months, and with the help of Buddee at Hotel Monaco it was a truly seamless event and joy to plan. Our guests RAVED about the food - some of the best food they had at a wedding. Buddee helped us set up our reception so the night flowed and the tone was set early that we were there to celebrate - I have NEVER seen my friends and family dance like they did that night. It was truly exceptional. The venue speaks for itself in our photos and in the whole experience.

    We were thrilled to be able to hold our wedding and reception at the Hotel Monaco. The hotel is unique and gorgeous, the food is absolutely delicious and the service is amazing. We had 153 guests and everyone was commenting about how they never wanted for food or drink and how smoothly everything progressed. Our wedding felt and looked like a fairy tale. And our photos were gorgeous! The hotel provides an array of fabulous wedding photo opportunities. We also had time for a quick photo shoot (just for me and my husband) at the National Portrait Gallery, across the street. Lastly, I cannot say enough good things about Buddee Clinton and his team. They were such a pleasure to work with. After the wedding, many of us went downstairs to Dirty Habit and continued the festivities. We informally met up again the next morning for a delicious breakfast.

    The Hotel Monaco was the perfect choice for our wedding - highly recommend! We live in DC but our family and friends live all over the country (and across the pond in some cases) so we wanted to pick a venue in the heart of DC to make a super fun weekend for our guests. The Monaco was perfection! All of our guests were constantly complimenting everything about the hotel - from the rooms to the service to the location.

    We did both our ceremony and reception in the Paris Ballroom. The Monaco team did a flawless job making every part of the night beautiful - and flipped the room amazingly fast! When it came time for the reception, the room was totally transformed. It was incredible. (Cocktail hour was in the Athens Ballroom - also very nice.) We ended up having about 155 guests, which was perfect for the ballroom size. We had a very dancey crowd so we went with the largest dance floor, which was necessary. Our DJ did uplighting on the columns, which looked great. We used Helen Olivia for flowers - highly recommend them as well.

    All of Buddee's recommendations were spot on - from vendor ideas to day of execution details. Trust Buddee, he knows best! He was very patient with all my questions and requests and made sure everything went off without a hitch. Eric is the head of catering and could not be more kind, polite or great at his job. He oversaw our wedding until the end of the night and made sure every detail was executed flawlessly.

    The food was really great - significantly superior to any hotel wedding food I've ever had elsewhere. Lots of positive feedback from guests on the food. We substituted a cheese display instead of doing dessert since we were doing a wedding cake, which worked out great. Bars and bartenders worked out perfectly - Buddee was accommodating at making adjustments to the beverage options to suit our tastes. We added an extra bartender, which I highly recommend - no issues with long bar lines throughout the night.

    The Hotel Monaco was an amazing venue to host our wedding. The quality of service from all the staff was wonderful. Buddee Clinton was easy to work with and great when bouncing ideas off of. He definitely has the experience to lead you in the right direction. The food at the reception was delicious and all of our guests commented on how wonderful it was. The service of the catering team was seamless. The hotel rooms are beautiful!! The location of the hotel is perfect as well. Most of the attractions of DC are in walking distance. As many of our guests said, and we agree, Hotel Monaco is First Class all the way!!!

    My husband and I recently got married at the Hotel Monaco and Washington, DC (October 2016) and had the best experience ever! So many of our guests commented that it was the most elegant and best wedding they have ever been to! We worked with Buddee Clinton at the Hotel for about 10-11 months before our wedding and he was always very helpful and responsive to my questions and emails and calls! We used the Paris Ballroom for both the ceremony and reception and it was just lovely. We used the Athens Ballroom for the cocktail hour. The food is absolutely fantastic. Our dinner started with a garden salad and goat cheese tart and we did a choice of the honey and herb roasted chicken or the grilled salmon. And we did both the pomegranate mousse and chocolate dome as the desserts among the guests. The dinner and dessert is so filling and delicious! We still had a wedding cake, but you do not need a massive cake at this venue since dessert does come with dinner! We had two bar stands which was great because no one was ever waiting for a drink and there was wine service with dinner! I would recommend this Hotel for anyone looking to get married in Washington, DC. The rooms have just been recently redone and the bridal suite was big enough for all of the girls to get ready in. We also used the new restaurant Dirty Habit for after-reception drinks in the outdoor courtyard area which was beautiful on a nice Fall night. All of our guests were very impressed with the hotel and we loved the fact that there were no other weddings at the hotel that night. The hotel is exclusive to your wedding in the fact that there cannot be another wedding happening in the hotel on the same night as yours. We can't wait to get back for our anniversary or just to have dinner at the restaurant! A perfect choice for the ceremony and reception!

    We had our wedding at Hotel Monaco this past weekend and it was perfect. The hotel is beautiful and all the hallways and the grand staircases were great places for our photographs. The main ballroom was also beautiful and perfect for our wedding of 125 guests. We got many compliments on our ceremony in a semi-circle. We also got a ton of compliments on the food. The ease of having everything in one location was great. Finally, Buddee Clinton, the event coordinator, could not have been more helpful in planning. I was not very stressed about planning at all, partly because it was clear Buddee would make sure everything ran smoothly, which he did! The only minor issue was that some guests told us they had a difficult time booking a room through the block. Overall, I could not recommend Hotel Monaco more highly!

    We were incredibly pleased with the Hotel Monaco! Buddee really knows what he’s doing and has amazing taste. He and Eric were exceptionally helpful, well organized, and wonderful to work with. We did not feel a need for a wedding or day-of planner, as Buddee provided us what we needed and was on top of everything, including the day of.

    We and our guests loved the Hotel Monaco--the unique, unconventional hotel experience we had hoped for. Location, and front desk and other service, were great, the lobby and rooms are beautiful and recently redecorated, and bridal suite is great. Guests can even borrow yoga mats and bikes, and partake in free wine at 5 PM every day in the lobby.

    The event rooms are beautiful. We didn’t spend extra for chairs or tablecloths, and the standard ones looked stylish and chairs were comfortable. Although it could fit more, the room worked perfectly for our 143 guests, and probably would have been fine up to 170 or so, even with a large band. Many guests danced most of the time, which was great and packed the dance floor, but it made for a fun, awesome vibe.

    The room didn’t need much, but the classy, artistic flowers from Yellow Door were perfect. Baltimore’s Premier Event Solutions really transformed the already gorgeous room with 8 LED uplights and a dance floor light for less than half as much as the $2,000 minimum at other lighting vendors.

    The 7-piece band (Bachelor Boys) including sax and horn was not too loud for our parents or older guests, though that would depend on the band’s sensitivity to this issue and their equipment.

    The food service was amazingly well coordinated and fast, delicious, interesting, and beautifully plated. Passed hors d’oeuvres at the cocktail reception were also good. We also opted for 2 cheese displays and 2 veggie displays (total cost $870) at the cocktail reception, which our guests seemed to appreciate.

    I am trying to think of anything to criticize, but amazingly I really can’t!!!

    The Hotel Monaco was the PERFECT venue for our wedding. They were so easy to work with, and made the whole planning process a cinch. Buddee and his team are excellent--efficient, calm, and knew every detail of the wedding perfectly. During the wedding, when we fell a bit behind schedule, Buddee and his team worked with the vendors to make adjustments so our photographer could capture all our special moments and we could have maximum time on the dance floor. The whole thing was seamless; we didn't have to worry about a thing. So many of our guests commented on the beauty of the venue (recently renovated), the delicious food, and the great service. I would HIGHLY recommend the Monaco as a venue; the pricing is also very reasonable for the area, considering all the things they included.

    Our wedding was at the Hotel Monaco in DC, and as my mother says "it was worth every penny." The reason we picked Hotel Monaco was because we were getting married in April and I am too much of a control freak to get married outside since you can't control the weather (especially in this area!). This hotel is really so special, and the Paris Ballroom is GORGEOUS. Hotel Monaco is not like any of the other hotels in the area- somehow it's able to be stylish, hip, impressive but feel intimate at the same time. Fantastic location with a lot of history. Also, the Paris Ballroom and hallways and guest rooms were recently renovated and they are stunning.

    I can't say enough positive things about working with Buddee and Eric. You have to remember that Buddee has been doing this for over 20 years, so he REALLY knows what he's doing-just follow his lead and your day will be magical. He was patient and on the day of, Buddee and Eric made sure that everything went off without a hitch. After the ceremony as we began the reception, my husband and I were able to turn our brains off and follow Buddee and Eric's leads and just enjoy our wedding day. It was awesome.

    The food was WONDERFUL. I really wasn't expecting it to taste like what we had on the day of the tasting (I've heard it never does) but...I kid you not, it tasted better. I have helped plan large events for the company I work for and I have high expectations, so I have seen excellent service and poor service, and I have to say that Hotel Monaco's staff is among the best. The food was delivered at exactly the same time and the water glasses were never empty (neither were the wine glasses)! My parents' friends were saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to.

    I would 100% have my wedding at Hotel Monaco DC again if I could do it all over. I would not change a thing. Thank you to Buddee, Eric and the Hotel Monaco team for making our wedding day incredible!

    My husband and I were recently married at the Monaco in DC. If we could do it all over, we would 100% choose the Monaco again. From the moment we stepped foot into the Monaco, we both knew that's where we wanted to get married. The hotel is a wonderful combination of funky and historic--it's not stuffy like so many of the other hotel options in DC. So many of our guests (and even some of the vendors) were enamored with the hotel and everyone is still talking about how amazing the food was. From a planning standpoint, everything was so easy. Buddee was wonderful to work with. He was responsive and flexible, and he, along with Eric and ALL of the Monaco staff, made the day stress-free and, most importantly, FUN. I cannot thank them enough for such a wonderful day!

    Hosting our wedding at Hotel Monaco, DC made the planning easy! We chose this venue because we wanted the convenience of a hotel wedding but didn't want a generic ballroom. The ballroom in this hotel is warm and we were able to personalize by adding family photos to built in bookshelves. Buddee was so easy to work with and was really flexible with all of our requests. All of our guests commented on how nice the hotel was during their stay. Some friends even said that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding!

    We had our wedding reception at the Hotel Monaco and everything was exceptional! The service the entire year leading up to the wedding was first rate, and we were able to have the wedding exactly as we wanted it. Buddee Clinton (the Monaco's coordinator we worked with) was attentive and very helpful. One of those people who really knows what he's doing. He was there every step of the way, provided good advice on every aspect of the reception. In addition, he and Eric (his day of manager) worked with all of our vendors to make the whole thing process effortless. We had a dream wedding and Buddee's hard work really helped make the difference. The reception venue itself is beautiful, and if you're wondering about the service I can tell you it's just as good.

    My husband and I just got married at the Hotel Monaco in Washington DC. WOW is all I can say. From the beginning, working with Buddee was so great. He has been working with the hotel for a long time and knows the ins and outs. Anything I contacted Buddee about, he would respond promptly and was always calm and in control. When it came to the day of, the place came alive. The entire staff seemed so excited about the wedding and Buddee orchestrated it flawlessly. I don't think my wedding would have been half of what it was at another venue - this was definitely a dream come true. If you are looking for a downtown feel for your wedding with a venue rich in DC history - this is the place for you!

    We recently had our ceremony and reception at the Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC. The service provided by all the staff was amazing-Buddee Clinton, their Director of Catering and Events, kept us right on schedule for the day and made sure all of our last minute change requests were taken care of--including adding meals for the a seated dinner less than 2 hours before the reception. The catering staff were very attentive to all of our guests and the food...guests are still raving about it!
    The venue is spectacular-lots of natural light, and very romantic. Since the Hotel Monaco is a historical landmark, it fits right in with creating a unique Washington experience for your guests and the location is central to so many DC sites. Our guests, those who stayed in the hotel, and those who just came for the wedding, raved about how beautiful it was.
    As a bride, the hotel suite (gorgeous) was perfect for having a hair and makeup team come to the room and to host family and friends throughout the day.
    We could not have been happier with our entire wedding experience at the Hotel Monaco, Washington, DC.

    I recently had my wedding and reception at the Hotel Monaco in DC. The entire experience, from signing the contract to the actual event, was handled exceptionally well. Buddee Clinton is by far one of the most competent, experienced, and all around knowledgable wedding and event professionals you will meet. Compared to other hotel venues in DC, we thought that the Monaco was actually a better value. The space is absolutely beautiful and we loved that it is a somewhat "quirky" boutique hotel. All of our guests loved their stay and are still talking about how beautiful it was. But back to Buddee, I really can't emphasize enough how helpful he was. You really don't need a wedding planner if you have Buddee. His other vendor recommendations were all fantastic. I would absolutely recommend the Monaco with 100% confidence.

    Simply put, the Hotel Monaco made our wedding day perfect. It isn't inexpensive, but we found it to be worth every penny. The Hotel is practically one-stop wedding shopping for some of the hardest aspects of the event to coordinate - a gorgeous and historical venue that can host your ceremony, cocktail hour (cocktails at a set fee rather than by-the-glass), and reception, DELICIOUS food (our guests are still talking about how much they enjoyed their meals...and we hosted several picky eaters), and perhaps best of all, our Hotel coordinator Buddee Clinton. We liked him from the very beginning - he is calm, professional, extremely responsive (I sent him a LOT of e-mails, and he got back to me on every one of them), and he has helped coordinate tons of weddings before so he knows exactly how to help you plan the evening and ensure all goes smoothly. We found many of our wonderful vendors through his recommendation. Our wedding night went off without a hitch, and Buddee and staff were there the entire time to help make sure everything went according to plan. We loved the staff as well - all of them (waiters, bartender, Betty, Buddee's assistant) were all smiles, genuinely happy for us and a delight to have working with us.     The Monaco is an absolutely beautiful hotel and a unique historic venue with wonderful service. I am so happy we had our wedding there. We have received many comments about how nice everything was and how much fun family and friends had. Buddee at the Monaco put a lot of time into helping plan and execute our wedding; it was greatly appreciated. Also he was very responsive to our questions and very patient with my brother with special needs, to figure out the best way he could fit into the ceremony and reception and be the most comfortable.

    I highly recommend Hotel Monaco in downtown DC as a wedding venue. We had an amazing experience and couldn't have been happier with our well our day went. Buddee, the hotel's wedding planner, was extremely responsive to all our e-mails and requests. The hotel staff was very professional and welcoming. I was blown away with how beautiful the Paris Ballroom looked when it was all set up. We gave a whole bunch of little details to Buddee to set up and everything was executed to perfection. Doesn't hurt that the venue its self is stunning to begin with. The only issue we had (and it was minor) was that a lot of guest had issues setting up a reservation using the room block, something that wasn't the DC venue's fault, but I think Kimpton as a company overall. Anytime we had booking issues though, Buddee made sure it was taken care of!

    My fiancé and I are extremely satisfied with Hotel Monaco. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and our guests loved the space as well. The location of the hotel is perfect especially for all of our out-of-town guests. The service from the front desk to the valet was very attentive and made us feel important and special. In addition, Buddee Clinton was a pleasure to work with over the past year. He was very responsive via email and if a problem occurred he was sure to correct it right away. We had a cookie table which is a family tradition and Buddee/staff set up the cookie arrangement perfectly. I know it definitely took extra time away from setup but no one complained:) The only interesting thing about HM was how to make a hotel reservation. The guests could only call a certain 1-800 number and not the hotel itself or online. We had a little bit of trouble with this. My only wish for future brides/grooms is that they make all reservation avenues available to guests. However, that was our only hiccup.

    All and all, the service, food and hotel were fantastic. The wedding reception was just perfect!

    Gorgeous site for ceremony and reception! The Catering Manager, Buddee Clinton, is an absolute gem and the staff is extremely attentive, professional and customer service oriented. The food is a delight (not to mention Poste prides itself in using sustainable/organic products) and the bridal suite is absolutely gorgeous! There's something to be said about a boutique hotel, which really prides itself on its identity, culture, and attention to detail. It was a dream come true!

    We could not have had a more beautiful wedding at a more beautiful and unique location. I highly recommend Hotel Monaco. This says a lot since my husband and I went to see 27 reception locations in the DC area (IN PERSON!!). I wished that we had gone to see Hotel Monaco first since we knew hands-down that it was the best the moment we walked in. The restaurant in the Hotel (Poste) is amaaaaazing and elegant.

    Buddee Clinton and company at the Hotel Monaco are wonderful at what they do! They were so easy and pleasant to work with throughout the planning process and made everything so easy for us running up to the reception and especially on the big day. They don't know the word "no" and did everything we asked of them. Our guests were incredibly happy with the food and service. Everything moved smoothly at the reception - the food was brought out quickly, plates and glasses were cleared promptly and the ensured all gifts and accouterments were promptly brought to our room. They did a great job making our event memorable for all!

    Two and a half weeks ago I was married at the Hotel Monaco, DC. The venue was one of the huge components that made it my perfect day. Starting with the beautiful architecture to the funky decor I loved it from the start. Buddee Clinton, Director of Catering was fabulous to work with through my year of planning. He not only offered helpful suggestions but answered every single question I had through the year. The weeks before and day of, Buddee and his staff rose above my expectations by providing guidance and help with whatever needed. I was worried about how the processional would work and where people would stand .. and Buddee took care of all of these little details. The food was delish and all of our friends and family couldn�t stop raving about the venue. The Monaco really is a very special place to get married.

    I had my wedding ceremony and reception in the Paris Ballroom at the Hotel Monaco and it was magical. The room is lovely with lots of architectural details and natural light. For the ceremony, we stood under the skylight/atrium and enjoyed the natural light it provided. Then for the reception the room was transformed by uplighting that highlighted the columns and vaulted ceilings.

    The food was amazing. It was far from your normal wedding fare. Several guests, including my father in law, commented that it was the best dinner they had had in recent memory, including at a restaurant! (And our crowd eats well.)

    Service was impeccable and I felt taken care of by all of the staff, from servers, to bellmen, to the front desk.

    Buddee Clinton has been managing weddings at the Monaco for a long time and he knows all of the vendors. Every time we met with a vendor they commented on how professional and easy to work with Buddee is. He has this wedding stuff down and made me feel confident that everything would go according to plan - and it did!

    Guests commented on the beauty of all of the rooms, lobby, guest rooms and ballroom. Our wedding suite was stunning and the perfect place to get ready on the day of.

    The Hotel Monaco is the perfect place for a wedding. If you are looking for the convenience of a hotel but would like something different, this is the place! The Paris Ballroom is beautiful. We had a TON of compliments on our venue choice. Another unique thing about the Monaco is that the food is fantastic. Everyone at the reception mentioned how great the food was, which of course, usually isn't the case when food is prepared for a large number of people. The only downfall is that the cost per person is quite pricey, but it was well worth the money.

    Beautiful Wedding at Hotel Monaco

    We’re so happy we ended up having our wedding at Hotel Monaco! We’ve each lived in DC for 15 years and always wanted something that really felt like the city for our wedding; Hotel Monaco brings that feeling in spades. Not only is the architecture classic DC, but it is right in the middle of everything while still retaining a quirky vibe. We were able to take beautiful pictures outside the Portrait Gallery and throughout the hotel itself; a really unique environment that you wouldn’t get from many other venues. The ceremony / reception space itself is breathtaking and we loved its unique vibe.

    The food was fantastic and the flow of the overall weekend went perfectly (we hosted both a welcome party and a brunch in the courtyard of the attached restaurant, Dirty Habit). We had a large wedding party and so ended up staying in the Majestic Suite, which had a large table perfect for getting hair and makeup handled on the morning of the wedding. Due to the convenient location, there are also numerous restaurants and activities around for ourselves and guests - as an example, the groom + groomsmen all had a great time at Kraken Axes next door during the hair and makeup.

    While everything ended up lovely, we could tell that the team at the hotel was newer after some recent staff turnover. As such, there were certain things that we had to be more proactive with in requesting / managing with the team and we found it very helpful to have a separate wedding coordinator to help stay on top of those details. Overall: the wedding was fantastic and we really enjoyed working with the Hotel Monaco team!

    We had our wedding reception at the Hotel Monaco and it was absolutely beautiful and everything went extremely smoothly. Working with Buddee was easy and he was always able to answer our questions. The hotel staff were kind and accommodating throughout the whole experience. They were able to set up our centerpieces and cake table even prettier than I could have imagined and the whole night was a dream. I would love to host another event at the Hotel Monaco!

    We had a fantastic experience using the Hotel Monaco DC for our wedding. The food was STELLAR-- my picky foodie family was gushing about the lunch for a week, even the vegetarians. The venue is gorgeous, and really unique--a cool blend of funky/modern and historical--and you can't beat the convenience of the location. These are the awesome things that your guests will see. What made our experience even better were the aspects that only you will see, but at the end of the day, make all the difference. I shopped around a lot, and found that the Monaco was the best value of any DC venue for a lunchtime reception for 120 guests. Plus, your venue, catering, accommodations, and excellent day-of-coordinator are all in one place. Major sanity-saver! Buddee, the director of events, came off as a tad disorganized over email at first, but he really has it together, and made sure that every little detail was flawless on the day of the wedding (Jewish couples: he knows all the ins and outs of Jewish weddings; he even made sure that there was food and champagne waiting in our room for yichud!). The hotel and events staff were all wonderfully professional, attentive, and pleasant to work with, and our other vendors all had great things to say about working with and in the Monaco throughout the planning process. They've earned our gratitude and enthusiastic recommendation!

    The Hotel Monaco has always been my dream location, and it was everything I had hoped for! Buddee Clinton, the wedding coordinator, is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Whenever we met with him it was clear we were in great hands! The hotel is beautiful and so unique - there's nothing else like it! The week of the wedding, the entire staff was so helpful and friendly they made it stress-free. The food was delicious, and the Paris Ballroom is a gorgeous ceremony AND reception spot.

    Hotel Monaco and Buddee Clinton gave us the wedding we'd hoped for when we started the planning process. Buddee and his team are a well-oiled machine. They know what works for the venue and make the process smooth and easy as you plan. Buddee is a busy venue manager, so it occasionally took a few days to get a response to a question, but he always followed through and followed up. The ballroom is just beautiful. For our wedding of 150 guests, it was the perfect size to have space to move and dance while still providing the intimacy we hoped for with our wedding. Room reservations had some hiccups along the way, but everything always worked out (often with a little help from Buddee). The hotel and rooms are just lovely, and everything is so well-placed within the city for out-of-town guests. And the National Portrait Gallery across the street is an awesome place for wedding pictures! Finally, the food was delicious, and just as good the night of the wedding (for 150) as at our tasting for two. We recommend Hotel Monaco for your wedding venue without any hesitation!

    The Hotel Monaco was a beautiful spot for our wedding and the staff was excellent. All our guests commented on the setting, quality of the food and service. Buddee Clinton the Director of Catering and Special Events was wonderful to work with and all of his suggestions were wonderful- things we did think of and would have regretted not doing or doing differently. He kept the day and night running smoothly and my husband and I were truly able to relax and really enjoy ourselves.

    We LOVED the Hotel Monaco - the setting was beautiful (a mix of history with some modern style and colors). Buddee, the wedding coordinator at the Monaco, made everything run smoothly - we absolutely didn't need another coordinator; Buddee just made everything work! The food was delicious, and the wedding was just really, really fun. Hotel rooms are on the pricy side, but in general the value for the wedding was great - way better than anything else we considered for the event.

    Entire staff, (the ENTIRE staff), was made aware of the event and all treated us very warmly. It made our destination wedding feel like we were really getting married at home. It was special to be in such a unique space and have the vendors make you feel as if you feel welcome. Amazing and prompt service. Only issue was with getting the group rate, not the quote, but the follow-through. Lots of my guests had problems booking rooms at our quoted rate, but this was eventually fixed with simple communication with the management staff (also very friendly).

    Hotel Monaco - DC was one of the best choices we made for our wedding! Buddee was a dream to work with. He knows his venue so well, he knows what works, and how to make the night flow. I knew all along that the Hotel would be beautiful and that if Buddee was in charge-- I didn't have to worry. I did hear from guests that there wasn't enough food at the cocktail hour-- which was a suprise since we were pretty clear that we wanted lots of food there. Guest did say that the food in the reception was WONDERFUl (we did chicken) which was great to hear. We were very happy with the choice of Hotel Manaco Washington, DC.

    Buddee, Betty, and the team at the Hotel Monaco were wonderful. The venue is on the pricier end, but you certainly get what you pay for and we did not have the sense that they were trying to sell us on additional items all the time, as I did with other vendors. The hotel was set up as promised, all details were taken care of, things were set up as we requested with no need to confirm more than once, and our guests were just thrilled with the quality of service. Buddee and Betty were a great team and made sure that we always knew what was going on. They kept us on schedule, too, and ensured that the time was special for us as well as our guests. The food was also delicious.

    Would highly recommend them!

    My wedding at the Monaco was fabulous! The Paris ballroom is beautiful with the high ceilings and great dome in the middle. We were able to take pictures before the wedding outside in the courtyard which was a great setting for the pictures. The architecture throughout the hotel is amazing as it was an old building that was restored.

    The food was also great, unlike as most weddings that we have been to. Very fresh tasting and good variety.

    We had both our ceremony and reception at the Hotel Monaco in Old Town, Alexandria. This boutique hotel is very sheek and elegant, with a touch of modern art deco glamour. The outdoor courtyard where our ceremony took place is very charming. We had a great experience with all the staff; Paris ballroom was beautiful and the food was delicious.

    We really wanted to have our ceremony and reception in the same place, for the convenience of our guests, and Hotel Monaco DC turned out to be perfect. It's a beautiful old building with lots of character and, as others mention, Buddee and staff clearly know what they are doing. I think I most realized this after reflecting back on the day and realizing that I did not have to do anything/answer any questions from the hotel the day of the wedding - they had everything under control the whole night. They were there the whole time, but the only time I saw them was when I'd get a little tap and someone would tell me "ok, time for the father-daughter dance", etc, to keep things on schedule. Our two most important reception details were the food (we love to eat) and the dancing (our DJ was a friend). Poste obviously does excellent food (we had steak, chicken and veggie options) and we worked with Buddee on a timeline that would maximize dancing opportunities. It was a fantastic evening, and all our vendors were familiar with the hotel, which helped a ton from an organizational standpoint.

    The only glitch in our plans was the reservations. The contract we signed had the room block name and the 1-800 number for guests to use. The first family members who tried to book rooms found our block wasn't showing up in the system, then we got that fixed, but then for a while our block was showing as sold out to people who called when it definitely wasn't. Also, our guests' rooms were scattered throughout the hotel and my grandparents got a gift bag to someone else's wedding. Overall, people were responsive when we brought the issues to their attention, but I was just kind of not expecting to spend time on those particular details.

    My wedding has not happened yet - but I signed a contract with the Hotel Monaco DC. The building is gorgeous and historic and the ballroom is lovely - it has bookshelves and and entryway that make it feel very homey - but also a big skylight that is just gorgeous. Budee Clinton, the coordinator there, is great and responsive. We had the tasting a bit ago and that was so fun - we had a private room in Poste and they let us try all sorts of things - food and wine - and we helped plan everything. So far, my experience has been great! It's not cheap - but we wanted a nice hotel in downtown DC, so we weren't really expecting cheap.

    Thurston-Bleahu Wedding

    We wanted to give a big thanks to Hotel Monaco, its event team, catering team, chef and staff for helping to make our wedding reception everything we hoped for. We also wanted to give a special thanks to the hotel’s Director of Catering, Joseph Lee.

    Almost single-handedly, Joseph ably coordinated between us, all of these hotel functions, and outside vendors to relieve my wife and I from stress, and gave us meaningful value on our big day. Whether as-planned or at a moment’s notice, Joseph provided clarity and helped us navigate the whole process. Notably, he helped procure hard-to-find beer for the groom. Joseph advocated on our behalf with a variety of personnel to help us realize our goals. He personally ensured that our flowers were well received and stored leading up to the event. He also taught me the word credenza. Joseph had a great bed-side manner and made us feel heard and engaged in the process without a third-party planner. The Hotel Monaco is lucky to have Joseph Lee as its Catering Director. We cannot thank him enough.

    Once again, thank you to all the hotel players who hosted a most memorable wedding reception in the heart of nation’s capital.

    Everything ran flawlessly at Hotel Monaco. Buddee Clinton can be slow to respond in the beginning but ultimately delivers. The food was a little overcooked at the wedding-that was disappointing but I know it is hard to cook for such a large quantity. We had 175 in the room and it was wonderful. Our service was in the round. It was BEAUTIFUL, UNIQUE and nice to see faces of our loved ones during the ceremony. The natural sky light over our chuppah was amazing. It felt magical walking down the aisle into the room. I was nervous about there being room for the dance floor and a 10 piece band but the Monaco made it work and it was perfect!

    Buddee was great to work with. He was not always the quickest with responses, but always got done what I asked. Hotel Monaco is absoutely beautiful and we fell in love with it immediately. The staff was great and very accomodating. Be prepared to spend some money though, it's definitely not cheap, but worth it.

    I highly recommend the Hotel Monaco as a venue for your wedding. This unique room looks more like a library in a mansion than it does a hotel ballroom. The dome ceiling, book shelves, and other details make this a very special room, while still having all of the conveniences of having your wedding in a hotel.

    We had 190 people and although we were a little concerned about the size of the room, we all comfortably fit in the room, and the size made it very intimate without feeling cramped, The only negative of the room regarding its size is that it does not have the biggest dance floor. That being said, we were much happier to have some people dancing on the carpet, than having a huge dance floor that felt empty.

    The food was AMAZING!!!! You cannot beat having Poste cater your wedding, because it provides food so far superior to the standard wedding fare. The service during the wedding was impeccable. All of the servers were extremely professional and made an extra effort to make sure Ethan and I were always comfortable and had what we need.

    We had both our ceremony and reception at the Hotel Monaco in the Paris Ballroom, and they easily turned the room over in less than the hour that we were down the hall for the cocktail hour. Buddee Clinton, the events manager, has this down to a science.

    Buddee was great during the day and leading up to the wedding, however, he had not arrived until after we began taking pictures around 3:30, so we were happy that we had a friend doing our day of planning for us to be an intermediary. Buddee really does know exactly what he is doing, and is great in person, but is not always readily available or respond very quickly, but it might just be that it is easy to forget he has many other weddings to deal with at all times. Sometimes you have to be a little forceful, as it seems that Buddee likes to do things the way he is accustomed to doing, but at the end of the day he took care of everything and absolutely knows exactly what he is doing, so my advice is to trust Buddee and listen to his suggestions, which were very helpful.

    The schedule that we set out for the event got a little messed up, but we were the only two who noticed, so it really wasn't a big deal.

    We LOVED the Hotel Monaco, which is a cool, funky hotel with a great history, and all of our guests who stayed there could not stop talking about it. If you stay here, make sure that you find Whitney and Jennifer at guest services, who both made an extra effort to make sure that us and all of our guests were very happy.

    Overall, our wedding at the Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC was great. On the day of the wedding, the staff was very accommodating and if you asked for something, they delivered. One point of concern was the slow response time to emails and phone calls (replies usually took about 5 days) during the planning process. I think they do so many weddings that they didn’t really care much about our business. No big deal but not as much personal attention as I thought other places might have had.

    We had our New Year's Eve wedding at the Hotel Monaco this past year. We worked with their events coordinator from the very beginning of the process through the event. He was professional and timely in responses and offered thoughtful suggestions for our wedding day.

    On our wedding day, the food and service was truly excellent. We always had drinks and snacks during the reception and our server was very attentive. The hotel also provided appetizers to my husband and I immediately following the ceremony since we missed the cocktail hour for photos. Guests raved about the bartenders and other wait staff during dinner. And of course the space itself is stunning!!

    The reason I can't give this venue a 5 star rating is that many of our hotel guests were unable to check into their rooms at 3 pm, including my parents and other members of the bridal party who were getting ready for the rehearsal at 4 pm. They also overcharged several people inside the room block, which had to be corrected later and which was frustrating to our guests. Plus it made me feel bad to know that out of town guests had an extra hassle to deal with.

    I would still recommend the venue to another bride in the future and hopefully my experience with the hotel rooms was an isolated event and wouldn't happen again!

    Our wedding was beautiful! The Paris Ballroom at The Monaco is stunning and made for a perfect location for both our ceremony and reception. Buddee and his staff were very accomodating and easy to work with.

    I was a little nervous as my wedding day approached and I felt that my contact at the Monaco may not have all of the details in place, however I was happily surprised when our wedding day arrived and everything went incredibly smoothly. The hotel put forward a wonderful event and we couldn't have been more pleased. Our guests were wowed by the venue all weekend. I just wish they would have been more responsive and proactive in the planning process.

    I wish I had as wonderful of an experience at the Monaco as the other reviews. I planned my wedding for nearly 2 years so I was convinced everything would go as planned. What I had NOT expected was while I was out at the rehearsal dinner someone stole the crystal embellished sash to my wedding gown!!! The gown was only out of my sight for 4 hours during which the room was turned down and my sash (the only embellishment on gown) was stolen out of the zipped garment bag containing my gown and veil out of the closed wardrobe. The sash was on a hanger, the hanger was still in the bag but the sash was gone. I discovered this the night before my wedding, but before I totally freaked out I waited until the next morning so my parents could go home and be SURE the sash was not there. I woke up on my wedding day to the news from them that the sash was officially gone. The first thing I did was cry my eyes out on my wedding day. I then contacted the hotel management about the theft. They came up with the maids and searched the room...this is while the bridal party and I were getting ready in the suite complete with two photographers. NOT the wedding day I'd imagined at all. It was total chaos. The management was tearing sheets off the bed, suggesting perhaps I'd slept with the sash. They also asked if I'd taken out my own trash....in a hotel because it was possible I'd thrown it away. Seriously?!! It was a mess and eventually the management told me they didnt' believe the maid had taken the sash, but they had checked the room entry log and the maid was the only other entry into the room. So basically I felt humiliated because apparently the management decided I was lying about it despite having a picture of the dress with the sash at the final dress fitting and the receipt from purchasing it. It was such a mess and all the while Buddee our event planner never even bothered to show up and see if I was alright even though I had requested he come to the room nor did I even speak a word to him at all during the day. I seriously just cannot believe I got robbed on my wedding day and they did NOTHING about it. The only offer was to buy another of the sash. Clearly they don't understand there's really only one day in your life you can wear a fake diamond sash and that's your wedding day! The room wasn't comped, the management never directly apologized to me, I even sent a letter to corporate telling them about the experience and have yet to hear anything in response to a letter and email.

    I had all sorts of other random issues with planning along the way including them never letting us taste the specialty cocktail (even though we asked to) and then running out of it within an hour, taking my half eaten wedding cake off the sweetheart table while I was dancing so I only got two bites of it, and changing the carpeting in the ballroom to the ugliest carpet on earth without mentioning the massive change to any of the brides, but the sash being stolen was the ultimate disaster. Once the guests staying at the hotel caught wind of the theft, they all rushed back to their rooms to stuff everything in their safes. It was SO embarrassing they had to fear for their things at what was supposed to be a nice hotel.

    I seriously regret choosing the Monaco not only because of the sash situation, but also the lack of the great customer service the Kimpton brand claims to have even after the wedding. Clearly when one of my vendors reacted with 'can you still change venues' when I told her where the reception was, I should've listened to her!!!!

    Venue was beautiful, guests enjoyed the rooms. However, customer service by the Special events/catering department was lax leading up to the 2 weeks before the wedding and immediately after. It was like we have our money we don't have to deal with the couple any more. I'll never recommend this venue without a planner or someone to get absolutely everything in writing from the Special Events/Catering department. Their lack of attention to detail and service lead to being overcharged and additional fees that have not been remedied fully.
