Marva is wonderful!

I only spoke to Marva one time, a few years ago, when I was planning my wedding in the Bahamas. I had already scouted most of my vendors and was deciding between 2 venues. We had the most lovely conversation, in which she offered free advice and was so flexible on what she could help me with.

Covid came and I decided to take it all on myself. If I was planning a wedding or special event in the Bahamas, I would most certainly hire Marva as the first step! She has a wealth of knowledge to plan your event and a wonderful, calm, supportive spirit.

The Absolute Best

Where to begin, Marva’s work is perfection and she is also incredibly kind, calm and thoughtful.
We got engaged at the end of 2019 and met with Marva in the beginning of 2020 to book/plan our wedding for May 2021 at Grand Isle in Great Exuma. Once the pandemic hit, Marva went above and beyond to help us plan & replan multiple pre wedding site visits as we all navigated the ever changing situation. We were finally able to visit Grand Isle in January 2021 and following our trip we made the tough decision to postpone our wedding another year. Marva was so understanding, helpful & compassionate as we worked through this entire process with the hotel and all our vendors. As we planned, I had an overall vision of the type of wedding I wanted, but I trusted Marva fully to advise on details to bring this to life. She did not disappoint. In fact, I cried when I saw the flowers because they were so stunning. Marva, her amazing team and vendor partners helped bring the day to life in a way I couldn’t have imagined. Despite the rainy weather for our wedding day, every detail for our welcome party at Big Ds and the wedding was incredible. Marva considers everything, your individual styles and partners with phenomenal vendors to make the vision a reality. I cannot thank Marva enough, I put my trust fully in her and would highly recommend her to any bride or for any event.

Wonderful experience!

Marva and her team did a fantastic job! She executed our vision perfectly. It was truly a magical day! Marva was very patient throughout the pandemic. We ended up working together for a long time and it was a great experience. She thought of everything and gave us direction every step of the way. Dream wedding in the Bahamas made easy!

Working with Marva and her team was the best decision we ever made! If you are dreaming of having a wedding in the Bahamas (big or small, simple or grand) I would never do it without enlisting the help of Chic Bahamas Weddings. Marva is Bahamian and knows all the ins and outs of getting it done in the islands, which is not easy to navigate. She is professional, kind, on top of it at all times and dedicated to making anything and everything you want happen. Just when you think it can't be done, Marva makes it a reality! By the end of our wedding week we dubbed her the Marvelous Marva because not only did she make our plan and vision come to life, she made it better than we every expected. Best Destination Planner

Chic Bahamas weddings and Marva Munroe was a pleasure working with as a destination wedding planner. Planning a wedding during a pandemic was stressful, but Marva took all the stress away from me with her knowledge, professionalism, and experience in planning weddings.

Marva’s communication skills during the planning process were excellent. With her calming voice, when we spoke on the phone, I knew I had the right person in charge of my wedding. She made sure I understood everything was under control, and I felt comfortable during the planning process. Marva made sure no detail was missing, and no questions went unanswered.

My wedding moved from April to December with fewer guests than expected, but I had a beautiful wedding. Marva exceeded my expectations. The next time my husband and I visit the Bahamas, we will see Marva. We feel we've gained a lifelong friend in her.

A Dream Come True

Let me just start off with planning a wedding can be nerve wrecking, and I would recommend anyone who is getting married to hire one for themselves and save you so much stress. After speaking and reading reviews on several different planner’s after talking to Marva I knew she was the perfect fit. My husband and I both have extremely busy schedules, and Marva was willing to work around our availability. We live in NYC and with our wedding being in the Bahamas, and we hadn’t met Marva until the week of our wedding, but when we did it was like we met her several times throughout the process.

From our first conversation all the way through and after our wedding day Marva was an amazing listener, extremely caring, and was able to advise us in the right path when it came to making decisions for our big day. She was accommodating with all of our needs, and truly made it feel like she wanted us to have the best day. The venue, food, flowers, performances, everything exceeded our expectations. Marva really pulled everything together so smoothly.

One thing that comes to mind to me is the arch for the ceremony. I wanted to make sure we stuck within our budget and suggested what I envisioned. She suggested a full circle floral arch which I never thought would have been possible with our budget but Marva was able to work directly with the florist and they were able to make the most incredible, lush, and beautiful full circular floral arch for our ceremony. When Marva walked us out to the venue before the ceremony I nearly cried. Marva went well above and beyond what we ever could have anticipated.

If I had to go back and start this process all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing and I would hire Marva over and over again. We plan to celebrate a milestone wedding anniversary in the future, and I would love to have Marva plan that for us and our family. I would highly recommend Marva to plan your wedding, you will not be disappointed. Marva thank you for everything, you made out big day so memorable, and absolutely perfect.

Where do I begin! Cannot live without, best money spent, joy to work with! We would not have a wedding without Marva. There are not enough thank you’ s in the world I can say to show my appreciation for everything she did to give us a wedding weekend better than we could have ever imagined. On wedding day and days before her and her team were amazing and so prepared and professional. They provided things I didn’t even think about and just blew me away. Marva is truly first class and I cannot say enough good things about her. In the beginning of the wedding process everyone I was reaching out to to work with all said amazing things about Marva. She is so well respected, and I completely understand why. She has the perfect level of communication, not too much where its overwhelming but not too little either. She is extremely knowledgeable, knows everyone and can make things happen you didn’t even think were possible. I was given her information by a friend of a friend and I couldn’t be more thankful. I honestly don’t know what we do without her. I didn’t have a ton of big visions for décor and things and I trusted Marva and her team, and I knew they would make everything look amazing. She guided me with decisions and I really valued her opinion. The biggest thing for me was I trusted Marva completely. I am a stressful person and having her made all the stress go away because I knew she wouldn’t let anything bad happen and she would make everything great and make everything look beautiful. I didn’t know exactly how everything was going to look on wedding day and for rehearsal dinner, but I didn’t care, because I knew Marva and her team were going to make everything look amazing and I had full trust in them. And WOW they really blew us away for everything! From décor to logistics to anything you can think of, they have it covered! I still can’t believe that we were able to afford what she did. Everyone said Marva is especially amazing on the wedding day and it was crazy how smooth everything went and how everything just comes together to make the best day. Marva is very responsive, sweet, personable, and patient and will give her honest and expert option. If you are doing a wedding in the Bahamas, Marva is a must! I will miss talking to her often and plan to keep in touch!

Marva is amazing!

Marva is absolutely wonderful. From the first phone call to the end of our wedding day, she was calm, resourceful, knowledgeable, and very organized. You knew you were in good hands the moment you talked to her. It can be nerve wracking planning a destination wedding because you don’t know the area or any companies. With Marva, that stress can be taken away because not only does she have amazing contacts, she is able to take you ideas and turn them into reality. The vendors she works with are all 5-star, especially the catering. The chef was phenomenal and all my guests are still raving about him. The photographer (Alfred Anderson) was there each step of the way to capture every memory. He knew exactly how to put us at ease and bring the best out of us. The flowers were exquisite and were more than we could have imagined. The servers were professional and courteous. The steel drum player was extremely talented and put us in the island mood. The DJ kept everyone on their feet until late in the night. I highly recommend Marva and team. I genuinely can’t express my gratitude enough. A Daughter's Dream

Marva of Chic Bahamas Weddings is absolutely fabulous! She made pulling together a wedding in a remote location (Little Exuma, Bahamas) not only simple but gorgeous. Dreamy Destination Wedding in Exuma

To say we were lucky to have found Marva would be an understatement. My husband and I are from NJ and always knew we wanted a destination wedding. When we finally decided on Exuma, we quickly realized planning our wedding so far away wasn’t going to be an easy task. We had so many ideas but didn’t know where to start, we were lost. That’s when we contacted Marva and I am so happy we did! After our first phone conversation, she had put my mind to ease and since that very day everything fell perfectly into place. Marva was unbelievably positive, supportive, patient and professional throughout our entire wedding planning process. The wedding weekend she planned was a true reflection of her incredible talent and passion for what she does. Marva stopped at nothing to make sure my husband and I had the most incredible day of our lives! Nothing I can say could translate the gratitude we have for Marva, her team, the execution, and delivery from the months leading up to especially the day of. 5 stars isn't a limit that could capture all Marva and her talented team have done for our wedding weekend in Exuma. Without a doubt, Marva was the best wedding planner we could have ever asked for and we are so lucky we found her. Her talent far exceeds anything I know. I'm a bit of a control freak (being honest) but felt so comfortable having her steer through the day - and she pulled off WAY better than I envisioned. Marva is ah-mazing

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Marva and her team. She is truly the pleasant person I have ever worked with in my life. She was recommended to us and I am so happy that we found her and that she was available. Her presence is so calming that it was impossible to feel stressed out which is a welcome break from the chaos of planning a wedding. We hired her as out Day-Of Coordinator and she honestly made our wedding day a dream. Everything went so smoothly and there were no hiccups. Since we had our ceremony/reception on the south-west side of the island and the majority of our guests were visiting she arranged the transportation to get them to and from their hotels. She kept everything on track and our wedding day was perfect. We highly recommend her!

The Wedding Of Our Dreams Come True!

Its been several weeks now since we tied the knot and not only are my husband and I still floating on cloud nine so are all of our guest. Marva from Chic Bahamas is truly, truly first class. Our experience with planning the wedding of our dreams was nothing short from amazing, from start to finish. I actually miss our conversations and look forward to planning some kind of anniversary event with her in the future. Our wedding was so amazing and required a ton of logistics. We got married at the Atlantis, after the ceremony we took buses to the harbor where my husband and I and 70 guest had our cocktail hour while we cruised out to a private island (and when I say private I mean private! There was literally nothing on the this island) where we had the most amazing reception. Marva and her incredible team had to literally ship everything to this island, a bathroom, tables, chairs, lights, decorations, a dance floor, a full bar and the most delicious food! Again, so so so many logistics and nothing fell through. Marva was truly amazing with her communication which is so important when planning any wedding but especially one of this caliber. She kept my husband and I abreast of any issues that she might be having and was very honest with us along the way. And I must add, any issue that she thought she might have, she found the resolution and it was no longer an issue. The months leading up to our wedding, Marva was great, and was always scheduling Skype/Facetime meetings and following up to our emails very promptly. If she was ever going to be out of commission for a few days she let us know as to not have of us being left in the dark. Marva has a very calm, cool and collective nature about her, even if she is under a lot of stress she is able to remain calm which is really great for me because I don't deal with high strung energy well. Marva not only planned the most epic wedding ceremony and reception for us but she also helped us in planning or welcome dinner and our joint Bachelorette/Bachelor party which all worked out stunningly. I can go on and on and on about how amazing Marva and her team are because they are truly deserving of all the praise. I would choose Chic Bahamas Weddings again and again. Thank you!

Hands down, best wedding planner around!

Chic Bahamas Weddings went above and beyond to create the absolute most magical and perfect day of our lives. Planning a wedding in the Bahamas all the way from NJ sounds like a daunting task, but the help of Marva and her team made it an absolute breeze. From the smallest details (like the napkin ring holders, linens and welcome baskets) to the largest details (like the DJ, hair and makeup and venue selection) - Marva and her team were there every step of the way. Marva ENSURED my vision for my wedding was executed down to every detail. Of course, there were times during the year long planning process, when I became a bridezilla and doubted EVERYTHING! Marva was there, responding back to my late night emails reassuring me everything would be perfect (even my 4AM email the morning of the wedding!!) and scheduling phone calls to ensure I was happy. I cannot say enough about how happy I was to have chosen Marva and her team to design and execute the most beautiful wedding I have ever seen. Not a single thing went wrong the day of the wedding. Every detail, moment, vendor and team member apart of the day led to what was MORE than I ever dreamed it would be. It has taken me ages to write this review - please do not let that reflect on the experience we had working with the Chic Bahamas Weddings' team, but on my total lack of organisation! This group of ANGELs work MIRACLES!
Let me start from the beginning, from the moment we knew we wanted a beach wedding in the Bahamas I begun googling venues and vendors. I then took it upon myself to reach out to everyone to get an idea of prices, dates, booking processes etc... I found very quickly ( being that I was based in London, UK) doing all of this remotely was going to be super tough! Who do you trust? How will I find and get a Hindu priest out to the Bahamas? How can you book something you haven't physically seen? Will the vendor and venue share our vision for our big day?It all started to feel like climbing a mountain while wearing stilettos!
I contacted Chic Bahamas Weddings via their website and 2 other wedding planners I had found. The moment I had my initial call with Marva, I had decided she was the one for me! Instantly, Marva's calm, professional style put me at ease. The scale of knowledge, experience and understanding her and her team had, was immeasurable. Everything was thought of and handled with the utmost care and consideration. Our wants and needs were met above and beyond what we had expected. We were provided with checklists, timelines and regular updates along the journey to our dream wedding. Each week, I would try to either have a call or email 'catch-up' with Marva to see how things were progressing as well as discuss any key changes. At every stage of planning I felt comfortable and relaxed that someone so capable was handling all the 'nitty gritty' details and all I had to do, was sign off. Nothing but the highest praises for Marva Munroe and her team! My fiance and I eloped to the bahamas and Marva was absolutely amazing from start to finish. She handled all of the arrangements (limo transfers, flowers, photography, hair, makeup, securing the location, helping us with paperwork, obtaining a wonderful officiant, etc.) and hit a home run in every regard. There are lots of things one worries about when planning such an important life event outside of your own native country, but with Marva, we knew from the beginning that we were in excellent hands and that we had made a solid choice. She guided us step by step through the process, was always prompt in responding and was very knowledgable in all areas of planning when any questions arose. Calm, cool, collected, elegant, organized and trustworthy. These are just a few of the words that come to mind when thinking of the phenomenal job she did for us. A true professional and very adept at handling events both large and intimate. My fiance and I chose a smaller, more intimate ceremony and she still made us feel so special - regardless of how big or small the event is, Marva comes through with trademark sophistication, attention to detail and more than anything, a genuine care for her clients and their wishes. Her hand selected vendors were also absolutely great to work with. I could not recommend her more highly. If you are considering a wedding in the bahamas and are looking for the perfect coordinator - your search is OVER!!! You found her. The one, the only, the MARVELOUS, Marva Munroe :)

I honestly can't say enough good things about our wedding day, it was absolutely amazing and I wouldn't have changed a thing!!! When I first met with Marva, I told her I envisioned our wedding in a secluded spot and that my main priority was that my guests have a great time and dance a lot. Marva took me to 3 spots that all fit this description, and I fell in love with Pearl Island. This was a brand new venue - new to Marva, the DJ, photographer, violinist & beauty providers (all recommended by Marva and were incredible). Our guests had an amazing time and never left the dance floor, it was exactly what I pictured, maybe even better!! :) For the rest of the trip after the wedding, our guests were talking about how great the wedding was!

Just got back from my destination cruise wedding in the Bahamas, we all had such a wonderful time thanks to Marva! There is a part to destination wedding planning (and I'm sure any wedding planning in general) that you just have to let go and trust your planner, I'm so glad I went with Marva because all the vendors she chose for my wedding were top notch. All my guests commented on how beautiful the location and ceremony was, the DJ played great music that our group aged 8-80 enjoyed, definitely memories we will all cherish for a long time to come! I had toyed with the idea of going through the cruise ship wedding department to put together something on shore for me, but they were so limited as far as what the were able to offer. With Marva I was able to have the customized wedding that I always wanted, so I'm glad I ultimately went with her. I also really appreciated how responsive she was to my emails, it was so easy to communicate with her despite the distance. All in all I would not hesitate to recommend her to any brides thinking of having a wedding in the Bahamas, Marva is the best!

I can't explain in a short review just how amazing Marva was. She was so amazing. She took care of literally EVERYTHING. It started off with a simple phone call in which she was so pleasant and in that short time the majority of the wedding was already planned. When we landed on the island we were greeted by a person she sent to take care of our bags and get us to a ride to our hotel. She met us at the hotel and everything that wasn't already taken care of by her she drove us around personally and handled. And when i say she handled it I mean she handled it. She is a truly amazing no nonsense person. She got anything we wanted done and demanded that everything was done from the flowers to the wedding license. She got our reception handled with our specialty vegan menu and scheduled hair and makeup workers come to our hotel who both were AMAZING. Our wedding was breathtaking. Best day of our lives. It was so elegant and beautiful. When we finally got back to our hotel after the perfect day we had a bottle of champagne and a lovely card waiting for us at our room that she sent. Typing this I can't even cover all of the little things she did to make everything go without a single hitch. What wedding have you ever heard of that doesn't have a single issue? It's because Marva is the kindest best wedding planner ever. She will be so nice to you and at the same time be so firm with what you want and make sure your vision happens. Our wedding was the best day of our lives. We are eternally grateful to her for making it the most easy experience ever. We spent the whole time on the island relaxing and enjoying each other rather than spending it stressing and going crazy and it is all because of her. We were on island time and she was on her hustle. For the rest of our lives whenever we get our vows renewed at the amazing beach we will always call on Marva. Thank you Marva you really were an angel who made magic happen and made our wedding literally PERFECT. Thank You!!!

Marva was wonderful to work with! She took all of the stress out of planning a destination wedding. Marva worked with our budget and schedule. She found an absolutely beautiful location for our beach wedding and reception in Nassau, The Bahamas. She had excellent recommendations for a photographer, cinematographer, musicians, and so much more. To be honest, I was stressed out planning the wedding because I was worried about the little details. On the wedding day I realized that I shouldn’t have worried so much because Marva had everything under control. The ceremony and reception looked even better than my visions of it and everything went so smoothly. Marva and the entire team at Chic Bahamas Weddings were amazing during the planning and day-of our January 2016 wedding at Pelican Bay Hotel in Freeport. We did everything over the phone or online, as we didn't have the ability to do a site visit in advance, and everything turned out perfectly. Marva was very responsive to email and phone calls and put together a perfect day for us. We had beautiful weather for the beach ceremony but they had a rain plan developed in advance (which we thankfully didn't need) and everything went smoothly from ceremony to photography to reception. They had every detail anticipated and handled, and we were able to spend out time in the Bahamas enjoying our time together celebrating with friends and families. We couldn't be happier with the service we received from Chic Bahamas weddings and would strongly recommend them to anyone planning their wedding in the Bahamas!

As much as I loved the idea of planning my own wedding, I decided that it would be best to hire a wedding planner but not any wedding planner, one of the best in The Bahamas - Mrs. Marva Munroe of Chic Bahamas Weddings. After seeing what she had done for my cousin and friend's wedding, I knew that I could trust her to handle the details of my big day and I am so happy I did! Mrs. Munroe worked with me from beginning to end. She is gracious, patient, pleasant, understanding to your needs and wants, very responsive, helps you to prioritize and stay within budget, and does everything in her power to ensure that at the end of the day the bride and groom are happy. Although there were a few hurdles, it was nothing that Mrs. Munroe couldn't handle.

I am truly thankful that I entrusted my wedding into Mrs. Munroe's hands. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and we received raving reviews from our guests. We could not have asked for a better experience with all of our wedding shenanigans. Marva and her staff were beyond fantastic to work with. From the start, Marva was very thorough and efficient in answering all of our questions and making arrangements. Upon our first meeting with her, my husband and I had a list of questions/ concerns that we had spent DAYS debating over. Marva had our list covered and minds at ease within ten minutes.

The day of the wedding could not have gone any smoother. Everything was absolutely beautiful and went off without a hitch. We had a large, and slightly crazy, wedding party that she was able to manage with ease. She was very flexible and truly seemed to value our opinions.

We had a unique wedding request and Marva fulfilled it with ease! Our wedding took place on Rose Island where the ceremony was in the morning, a luncheon was provided, and swimming for family and friends in the afternoon.

Marva is amazing! She took care of everything to make the day the most unbelievable day for us. The venue was breath taking where it was private and a serene location with an amazing beach! Pulling up from the boats to the location and seeing the decor in place, caused jaw dropping reactions from the guests. We felt like celebrities!

The flowers, decor, cake, and food was to die for! Her recommendations for the boat company, the chef for a top notch meal, etc. is not possible to have been better.

We always felt that Marva was on top of everything and very responsive to any questions we had. The week of having a welcome party, rehearsal dinner, and wedding went superbly and gave us our memories we will cherish forever.

As our guests told us many times....this was the "best wedding ever!"

Marva was fantastic. She took my basic ideas and came up with a plan that far exceeded my expectations. She was great to communicate with, very professional, and made everything very easy and fun. She found the perfect officiant, suggested a change to the venue site that was GREAT, and went out of her way to make the day perfect. She also was perfectly cheerful about hiking to the back of beyond on Andros where we were staying!! I highly recommend her to anyone planning a destination wedding in the Bahamas!!

Even though I've always dreamed of having a beach wedding, I was so nervous trusting someone to organize my big day from afar. Marva is truly one of a kind. Not only was she a wedding planner, but she was a consultant, a coordinator, and sometimes even a mediator. Chic Bahamas was a Godsend for our wedding planning, logistics, and event. Chic Bahamas had the patience to help us through one postponement and helped arrange the most beautiful dress, timely Officiant, and amazing photographer among many details that made our day so very special. From the very start, Marva put me at ease with her knowledge and professionalism. After our first conversation, which lasted about 30 minutes, I told Marva what my thoughts were and what my approximate budget was and she, listened and just got me and what I wanted.

I was nervous about budgeting, ect., not one of my strong points, although i did have loads of ideas, she relieved me of all of the stress and angst of not knowing what to expect with planning a destination wedding. Marva knows her stuff and is willing to go above and beyond for a clients.

I without hesitation recommend her, she is the one-stop-shop of relief and ease when planning your wedding in the Bahamas. Marva listens, is proactive, organized, knows loads of vendors and just gets it, all while being professional, accommodating and confident in her stellar connections and event planning abilities.

Where do I begin with my praises. I remembered the first time I spoke to you over the phone about my Wedding. You seemed just as excited as me. Your ideas for locations and decorations were spot on. I'm from DE, and my wedding this past April was a breeze to plan. Marva executed and delivered everything she promised and more. Our 45+ guests are STILL sharing pictures and stories, and raving about our Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding in Paradise!Because of Marva and Chic Bahamas Weddings, I was able to spend all my time with my husband, our families and our guests, and never had to worry about coordinating times, locations, cabs, etc. She truly did it all!!! She is always smiling, always puts you at ease, and ABOVE and BEYOND anything else, Marva Munroe has IMPECCABLE taste!! My wedding was classic, beachy, beautiful! And FUN! She arranged for every vendor from our photographer to our baker! As an event planner myself, I was skeptical about working with people I hadn't met, but she knows the very best vendors to work with
Additionally, Marva easy to reach by phone or email, and ALWAYS prompt with a response to every question. It felt like talking to your best friend/mother. Her answer to every question was "I'll handle that for you!" "I'll find out for you!" or "Yes, of course!"
She worked seamlessly our hotel/venue, Pelican Bay, ensuring everyone received the appropriate room rates. She scheduled all our transportation, worked out every detail of filing for our Marriage Certificate, and hired a wonderful, charming Officiant for our ceremony. She even recommended the fabulous resort in Exuma where we spent our honeymoon!As a wedding planner, I hold her in the highest regard, and as a person, I feel like I made a wonderful friend who has a special place in my heart. If I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Simply stated, Marva Munroe and Chic Bahamas Weddings made my destination wedding dreams come true!

Marva Monroe, as well as her entire team and staff at the Pelican Bay Hotel were absolutely unbelievable. All were very attentive to myself and new husband as well as all of our guests. There were two waiters that were assigned to us all week and we saw them numerous times a day. They always asked if we needed anything and helped with anything we asked. Marva and i spoke on the phone while planning our wedding numerous times. I emailed her probably more times than necessary, she always responded very quickly and answered any questions that I had. I sent pictures of the tables at the reception, flowers, aisle decor etc. Everything was EXACT. It was unbelievable. Marva Monroe, Chic Bahama Weddings and Pelican Bay Hotel made my dreams come true. It was truly not only a night, but a week to remember. I can't thank you all enough!!!!!!

Where do I begin.. Marva is amazing! I was beyond stressed a couple days before leading up to the wedding due to flight and weather issues causing us to get to our destination. But our wedding day was worth going through it all. Everything turned out beyond more than what my husband and I could have expected. I'm usually a really hands on person and I love dealing with even the littlest details of things, so when my husband and I first decided on a destination wedding.. I was skeptic about not being able to see any planning or detail before. We thought choosing the service/planner would be difficult because when we researched a couple services and called around, other planners had assistance answering their phone lines. But when we called Chic Bahamas Weddings, Marva herself answered. That meant a lot to us because when you want to plan one of he biggest days of your lives without physically being there, you want to be able to feel connected and trust someone. Marva gave us that feeling instantly so we were confident we wanted to go with Chic Bahamas Weddings. We are so glad we did!! Our reception was absolutely beautiful. I was a little worried because we had less guests (15 altogether) than we intended to have and didn't know how everything would turn out.. But it did! Everyone had so much fun and are still talking about it 'til this day. :) We will hold a special place in our hearts for Marva, she truly is amazing and just the best! Chic Bahamas Weddings met and far exceeded my expectations for my wedding! I never dreamed of having a wedding when I was a little girl, so when I knew I was going to have one I knew I wanted one where I could relax and not spend my whole year planning the tiny individual details. So what's better than having someone else arrange it in another country?? My ultimate experience was all about everyone having a nice vacation and enjoying my family and friend time with no stress about details that only I knew about, and that is exactly what I got! Marva really seemed to go above and beyond. I was worried that she specialized in resort weddings and might not be equipped for my secluded location wedding, however she rocked it. I was 30 minutes outside of Freeport, and she still made 3 trips in the week to make sure that we were 100% okay. When the wedding day came, all vendors showed up and actually seemed to care about their product. It rained in the morning, and they were all so quick to protect everything until the rain stopped. When Marva came in she was on the ball directing everything to be perfectly coordinated, between the steel pan players, the DJ, the chef, the officiant, the AMAZING photographer WilGrant, the lights, and the flowers nothing missed a beat.
I know that having a wedding planner that you have never met in a country that you may or may not have ever gone to arranging your wedding is kind of frightening. ( The whole year I had a nightmare in the back of my mind that I would arrive in the Bahamas and never be able to get a hold of her) But relax, she really does have it!!! Do your job of making your pins, pick your dress, choose your location ( I recommend a private house over a public resort) and pay Chic Bahamas Weddings and you will NOT regret it!!! It was the best day of my life, and amazingly beautiful! I will never be able to say thank you enough to Marva and wish I could live the day over and over and over again.

We got married at Pelican Bay in December 2013. Marva was amazing from start to finish. We started planning our destination wedding about a year prior and Marva was always extremely prompt in her responses, either via email or over the phone. We were a bit hesitant about having a destination wedding, but Marva quickly put our minds at ease with her professionalism and extensive knowledge. Once we arrived in the Bahamas for our wedding weekend, Marva helped to make our time there worry free. For example, even though the flowers we had wanted for the groomsmen boutonnieres were not available, Marva made sure to get a flower which looked almost the same. This is the type of attentiveness that she provides to her couples. On the day of the wedding, everything was just as we had imagined, from the ceremony, to the flowers, to the food. Everything was just perfect. Marva is truly a gem and we are so happy to have worked with her for our dream wedding!

Chic Bahamas Weddings is simply in a class of its own. We contacted Marva about planning our wedding only 8 weeks before the wedding date. Notwithstanding the short time frame, and the very detailed specifications that we had, she was undaunted. She listened to, and delivered on, all of our requirements. She was accessible and responsive to all of our inquiries. Her organization was meticulous. She was unfazed by our changes. Her performance was impeccable and beyond our expectations. On the day of our wedding, she not only delivered on her part of the programme but she also helped to resolve issues with other service providers where necessary. From the moment I first contacted Marva, she was the utmost professional. She provided a great deal of feedback before we had even signed a contract, and she did so promptly. I expressed to her that I simply wanted to show up and put on a dress, and she graciously and effectively handled everything else. The vendors she recommended were professional, courteous and early. The venue was more than I could have hoped for and her recommendations around the island were superb. Every meal out was fantastic thanks to her recommendations. My family who attended had only the highest marks to say about the, and even my fiance said she was exceptional and couldn't have imagined the planning with out. Most of all, my mother, who paid for the wedding and is a widow, loved the small touches and care she made throughout the process, even after the ceremony. I couldn't have imagined a better experience and would recommend her very highly. Exceptional!

Marva, of Chic Bahama Weddings, is phenomenal! She was exceptionally attentive and professional. Our wedding and dinner reception exceeded our expectations. The ceremony was on the beautiful Spanish Main Beach, where Marva went over and above with extra decorations. Our Officiant, Reno Smith, was also spectacular - professional, funny, sincere - everything we could have hoped for and more! The reception dinner was held at Pelican Bay, on Delphine's Balcony, which was perfect for our intimate group of 13 people. The flowers were beautiful. The food and cake were delicious. I'm not sure who made the cake, but it was awesome. Our photographer, Erik Mosvold, was also exceptional. We loved our photos. Amanda, our make up artist hired by Marva, also needs to be noted. She was amazing! Finally, last but certainly not least, Sal and Adrian, two great, great guys at Pelican Bay Resort. Both of these gentlemen were very professional, accommodating, and helpful. We cannot say enough good things about Marva and Pelican Bay Resort! Our wedding was simply magical and we are already planning a return trip to Pelican Bay.

Marva was amazing! Due to a weather change on the island and a change in our guest list we needed to make some adjustments that I was enormously worried about. Marva assured me that everything would work out but I was skeptical. When the wedding day arrived, Marva and her team really delivered. She arranged all of the services for the wedding including flowers, catering, photography, music, rehearsal dinner etc. I had requested a number of last minute changes due to weather and Marva exceeded all expectations. She was on top of the weather the whole time and was able to schedule our event for a perfect window of time (a rainbow even came out over our ceremony).I can say with confidence that thanks to Marva, we had a more beautiful wedding and reception( and rehearsal dinner) than I could have ever dreamed of!

I cannot even begin. I am the pickiest, most annoying person to work with. Maybe being a big law firm attorney on the east coast has something to do with that. I am extremly obsessive and vocal, but also did not know what I wanted. I contacted Marva and a few other planners in the Bahamas as I am stateside. I found the other planners to be unresponsive. Marva was wonderful. She helped me search through venue, providing me with pictures she personally took just for me, and budget and tons of help, without even forcing me to pay up front for services. Her responsiveness, especially to a control freak like me, was amazing. Her professionalism and kindness really helped calm my frantic personality. She was wonderfully reliable and addressed every little email I shot off to her. I LOVE HER. I rarely recommend people, but Marva is great. I cannot thank her enough.

With only six (6) months to plan my fairy-tale wedding, I was a nervous wreck because I knew that there was no way I could have pulled this off in such a short time. Fortunately, I met Mrs. Marva Munroe in the nick of time to assist in planning and coordinating the most important day of my life. As we diligently prepared for the wedding, Marva would listen attentively to my requests and offer sound advice to supplement & enhance my vision. Every time I called, emailed (sometimes in the wee hours of the morning) or wanted to schedule a meeting, she never hesitated to respond in a timely manner. Every minute detail was articulated and discussed as Marva went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that I was happy. There were no requests that she did not hesitate to grant, which made me feel confident in her and less anxious as the big day swiftly approached.

On November 24th, 2012, as my husband and I made our entrance into our venue, we were left speechless and blown away. The ambiance of the room was one of pure elegance! Marva incorporated lovely decor and special lighting that gave the atmosphere a romantic touch and made sure that everything went smoothly. I definitely received more than what I expected as Marva brought my dream alive that night!

If you wish to have a beautiful, lavish, extraordinary wedding that will blow your mind, you MUST hire Mrs. Marva Munroe. Our wedding exceeded any and all expectations that Travis and I had. We couldn't have dreamed up a more perfect wedding! From the very beginning you were so thorough, and that's why I chose to work with you. Last August when we started the planning process I contacted many resorts and hotels throughout the Bahamas to get quotes. You were the ONLY wedding planner to respond in a timely manner. You responded the same day, whereas it took everyone a few days to week to get back to me. In addition, I knew exactly what kind of wedding I was getting with you. Other hotels and resorts kept adding costs when I asked about basic things (like napkins). I knew you were the right fit for Travis and I. I wanted someone who was thorough, prompt, and treated our wedding like it mattered. We wanted to feel like we were important, and we always felt like you had time for us during this process. You always responded to my requests in a timely manner and continued that throughout the entire planning process!!! We are so appreciative of that.

Since this was a destination wedding, Travis and I didn't know how to choose the vendors. You provided us with excellent vendors that fit in our budget. You really made the planning process easy and enjoyable. As I mentioned, you were so prompt with responding to our requests and small changes we made throughout our planning process. I felt very comfortable, and you really minimized my stress level because I knew you had everything under control.

We really appreciate you meeting us at the Port to make sure we got through customs and arrived at Pelican Bay. When we arrived at Pelican Bay, Travis and I felt like celebrities!! The hotel guests and employees knew we were getting married that weekend. Everyone was so nice and really went out of their way to make us feel welcome! We also loved our water view state room. It was so spacious and gorgeous! You were so organized with our schedule to meet with all of our vendors. All of the vendors were on time and were prepared! That really matters because it minimized the time Travis and I needed to spend with them and maximized the time we had to spend with our families and friends! The planning really went off without a hitch right up to the wedding day!

I can definitely say that our wedding day was the best day of our lives! All of my bridesmaids loved the hair and make-up ladies. They did such a fantastic job on our hair and make-up! I've never felt so beautiful! The flowers were gorgeous and exceeded my expectations! We really enjoyed the limo ride to the beach. You were so prepared and provided our guests with umbrella's in case of rain. God definitely shined down on us that day, because as soon as I got out of the limo the small rain shower stopped. We were able to have a rain-free beautiful wedding! One of the best surprises was the focal point and flowers you provided at the beach. It was unexpected and made the ceremony even more beautiful! Thank you so much!

All of our guests really enjoyed the boat ride to/from the beach. The little rain shower prompted you to encourage us to get a tent for the reception just in case the weather didn't cooperate. I am so HAPPY we got the tent! It really made our reception more intimate and defined the space. All of the decor was island elegant! It was such a magical scene. Our guests are still talking about that night!

I also want to mention that the food was EXCELLENT!! I cannot emphasize that enough! Each meal was perfectly cooked. I have gotten so many complements on our appetizers, entrees, and desserts! The alcohol was top notch, and the DJ....well he definitely knew how to get us all dancing! Guests were slow dancing during dinner! I've never seen Travis' friends slow dance with their girlfriends/wives, but DJ Earl really knew what music to play! Once dinner was over, I don't think I stopped dancing the entire evening. You definitely know how to select the best vendors!

How can I not mention Lyndah Wells....she is fantastic! She is so energetic, and she is such a talented photographer! Her pictures of our wedding came out beautiful! They are so colorful and intimate. Her candid shots are spectacular! As you know, we all jumped in the pool after the reception was over. Lyndah captured that...even though the reception was "technically over". We are so grateful she was there until the very end and beyond so she could capture those moments. Those are the moments we will remember for the rest of our lives! Lyndah really is a top-notch photographer!

We would not have had this experience without you and your relationships with everyone who made our wedding so special. You are a one-of-a-kind planner, and I know you put in the same effort and time into other weddings as you did ours. That's what makes you such a great wedding planner. Travis and I would really like to keep in touch with you.

We knew we wanted a destination wedding, and the Bahamas were our choice location- close to the U.S. and easy to get to. We didn’t want a large commercial resort. We wanted to something smaller, more intimate, with character. We loved how relaxing and peaceful Pelican Bay was. Everyone was so friendly and the state rooms were so charming. Sabor had great food, and you’re right next to the Marketplace; across the street from the beach. There were so many amenities, all conveniently located. Marva made planning the wedding so easy. She was patient, always answering all of our questions. She truly went above and beyond, surpassing our greatest expectations for the day. Everything turned out better than we ever could have imagined.

Everyone loved our wedding. Guests said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. They loved the food, DJ, the cake, and said they had an amazing time.

Travis and I wanted to thank you for your superb job organizing our wedding and honeymoon. Everything from the flowers, decorations, and the table settings were exquisite. Hair, makeup, and photography people were outstanding. I loved Amanda, Bishop Reno and Nelson! Flying Fish was the perfect place for our little intimate celebration.
We fell in love with Exuma! Turquoise Cay where we honeymooned was AMAZING. The atmosphere and the people were so nice. Exuma is truly heaven on earth! It was hard to leave to go home. Definitely will be coming back in the near future. We should of stayed another day in Exuma and skipped Atlantis!

I had the wedding of my dreams thanks to Marva at Chic Bahamas Weddings! I started planning about a year before my wedding and she kept me on task and made the planning seemless for me. Everywhere from her choice of flowers, to her attentiveness, she was PERFECT. My guests continue to tell me it was the best wedding they have ever been too. It was the best day of my life. Chic Bahamas Weddings is the only way to go if you want a destination wedding.

Marva was simply the best! Almost immediately after our first phone conversation with her to learn more about her services, and for her to learn about what we envisioned for our perfect day, my then-fiance/now-husband and I knew she was the right person to help us make that vision a reality.

We opted for a small wedding (we estimated about 30 total guests and it ended up being 27 total, including us) on Exuma island in the Bahamas. Our ceremony was at a "no-name" beach in the town of Forbes Hill, about a 10 min drive from Turquoise Cay hotel, which is where our cocktail hour and reception were. My main request was to find a beach that would be very private for our ceremony, and we got exactly what we wanted stumbling upon this "no-name" beach.

Marva was always a pleasure to speak with via email or phone and very responsive with everything. She truly went above and beyond with helping arrange the various events for my wedding weekend (Rehearsal dinner the night before, post-wedding brunch at another nearby hotel, and then a swimming pigs tour for my family and friends!), along with coordinating transportation for all of our guests. She not only took care of my husband and I, but also all of our friends and family who traveled a long way to celebrate with us.

I will note that we did have a few hiccups along the way (who doesn't during the wedding planning process?), but all of the issues were out of Marva's control and even then, we always felt like Marva was on our side negotiating on our behalf and making sure our best interests were well taken care of.

If you plan on having a destination wedding in the Bahamas, I would very highly recommend you get in touch with Marva!! Our special day could not have happened without her and for that I will be forever grateful!

Marva made our wedding completely worry and hassle-free. She did an amazing job at coordinating everything and made sure that we got the wedding that we didn't even know was possible! When we contacted Marva, we did not know exactly what we wanted for our wedding day and rehearsal dinner. She was able to work with us to discover what we wanted and she helped give us the most amazing wedding day! We would not hesitate to recommend her to anyone.

Marva was wonderful and we didn't have to worry about a thing. We had a wonderful wedding and our guests had a great time. The food was really good and our DJ was great.

If I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing.

I would highly recommend getting married at Pelican Bay! Marva Monroe (Wedding Specialist) was absolutely wonderful to work with along with her staff. I sent pictures to her for how I wanted certain things to look and to my amazement.... everything was pretty close (especially my wedding cake and chuppah)!

My advice to future brides is to be specific, know what you want. If you go into planning knowing this you will be well on your way.

My husband and I came from New York to have our wedding at Pelican Bay Hotel in Freeport, Bahamas. We have very close friends who lived in the Bahamas and were able to provide quite a few essential vendors. So, when it came to coordination, Marva was the best person to have around. She was knowledgeable of many of the vendors that I was working with on my own and had a good rapport with a lot of people on the island. Communication was seamless and Marva was professional and punctual at all times. It's not common nor easy for a couple having a destination wedding to pull from different resources, but Marva handled that effortlessly and was kind all throughout.
Even when our flight to the Bahamas for our wedding got pushed back an entire day (causing our whole itinerary to end up a day behind!), Marva remained calm and flexible, which helped our nerves. She communicated with all the people with whom we had meetings, and re-arranged alternate plans. Our wedding (and all the events and coordination leading up to it) was beautiful...just like a dream. I highly recommend Marva.

Chic Bahamas Weddings – A Frustrating and Disappointing Experience

I’ve waited over 5 months after our wedding to write this review to ensure it’s thoughtful and rooted in facts rather than emotion. While planning a destination wedding in Exuma, Bahamas, we came across Chic Bahamas Weddings. Given the glowing reviews and limited options on the island, I was initially excited to work with Marva, the owner and lead planner. Our first conversation was impressive, and I thought I was in great hands. Unfortunately, our experience was frustrating on many levels, and I cannot recommend her services.

Lack of Financial Transparency

One of the most difficult aspects of working with Marva was the lack of transparency in billing. Throughout the planning process, we were given lump sum amounts for services — without itemized invoices or clear breakdowns of costs. When I requested actual vendor bills (florist, electrician, etc.), I was repeatedly told, “We don’t operate that way,” and “No other bride has ever asked for that — they just trust us.” This became a recurring theme.

For context, Marva charged us a sizable upfront fee for her planning services, yet continued to add vague charges throughout the process. When asked for clarity, her responses lacked detail, and she often referenced other clients who had multimillion-dollar weddings and trusted her with everything. While I understand some planners charge flat rates for coordination and then manage vendor costs, this should be disclosed upfront. In our case, it felt like additional fees were being added without justification.

A specific example: Marva arranged a short boat ride and taxi trip during a planning visit. We paid her a flat fee directly for these services, but after speaking with the boat captain and taxi driver, we discovered we had been overcharged by roughly $500. When questioned, she told a story about a previous couple who incurred extra charges and that she once had to pay out-of-pocket — suggesting our overpayment was a “cushion” in case that happened to us (which it didn’t). This pattern repeated itself several times — stories and justifications, but no transparency or itemization. I believe if I hadn’t pressed, we wouldn’t have seen a refund for that $500.

After the wedding, our final bill included charges we didn’t authorize, such as an extra DJ hour, a “setup fee” for something we offered to do ourselves, and deductions for a boat rental we couldn’t use due to weather. These unauthorized fees were deducted from a refund we were owed, with no prior notice or approval.

Vendor Control and Communication Issues

Marva insists on controlling all communication with vendors she selects for your event. She must be present on every call, and if you speak to a vendor independently (even to ask a simple question), you’re reprimanded. We were told that if we bypassed her, she wouldn’t take responsibility for anything that went wrong — even if we kept her informed. This level of control felt unnecessary and made communication inefficient.

When we brought in our own vendors (e.g., hair and makeup artists, photographer), she made it clear she wouldn’t assume any responsibility and offered minimal support, which made the process difficult. This was especially frustrating because any professional planner should coordinate with your chosen vendors to ensure a seamless event — not create friction. Two of our vendors had such a negative experience working under Marva’s structure that they stated they would not work with her again.

Unprofessional Behavior and Disregard for Client Preferences

Marva referenced how “nice” brides receive better service, implying that questioning her decisions or having an opinion would negatively impact the planning process. In her view, “nice” meant fully compliant and agreeable. This made it exhausting to advocate for our preferences, as any disagreement was met with defensiveness or condescension.

Despite her claims of having managed thousands of weddings, small but meaningful details were mishandled. During our ceremony, she stood at the end of the aisle, blocking many of our professional photos — requiring extensive editing from our photographer. More significantly, I had specifically requested a Jewish-style ceremony setup (noted in our documentation and timeline), but my husband was positioned incorrectly at the altar. Marva later admitted she changed the setup based on a casual comment from my father-in-law, completely disregarding my wishes. Her response was a patronizing, “I’m pleading for forgiveness,” but by then, the damage was done.

Reception Issues and Additional Disappointments

Due to weather, our reception moved indoors, which we understood. However, we had been assured repeatedly that indoor events were handled seamlessly. In reality, the space was tight and ill-suited for key moments like our first dance. Marva insisted we wait to dance until after the buffet was cleared, citing a lack of space — even though the wedding had only 30 guests. We ended up squeezed into a narrow aisle, ruining the video and photo opportunity for the dance we had rehearsed for months.

Marva also forgot our parents’ dances entirely. When reminded, she offered to send a gift in apology. Months later, we’ve received nothing — a gesture that now feels insincere.

We had also arranged for a Junkanoo band, which she promised would only perform when we were ready. Yet, they arrived early, and she pressured us to alter our timeline or risk them leaving. Despite having paid for their performance, she suggested we were “lucky” they showed up at all. I had to run through pouring rain to change dresses quickly just to see them, which was both chaotic and unnecessary.

Poor Planning and Vendor Treatment

Additional concerns: she insisted her team specifically did not require vendor meals, then approached us mid-reception saying her team was “famished” and thought they’d have time during the wedding day mind you— to leave, cook, and return (a baffling expectation). She allowed vendors to help themselves to our open bar, and made it known who was “expecting” tips, even thanking us on their behalf — possibly hinting at a tip for herself.

Additionally, my vendors specifically -described feeling micromanaged and disrespected. Several told us directly that they prefer not to work with Chic Bahamas Weddings in the future.

Final Thoughts

Planning a wedding should be joyful, and while we had some beautiful moments, the process was overshadowed by stress, poor communication, lack of transparency, and unprofessional behavior. Marva’s pattern of control, dismissiveness, and unwillingness to operate with transparency made what should have been a special experience feel burdensome and frustrating.

I share this review to help others make informed decisions. While Chic Bahamas Weddings may have worked for some, I strongly recommend you ask very specific questions about billing practices, vendor communication, and how unforeseen changes will be handled — and get everything in writing. In hindsight, I wish I had done more due diligence and chosen a planner who truly viewed us as partners in the process, not as a revenue stream or inconvenience.

Rude & Abrasive

As much as I do not like leaving negative reviews, I feel the need to warn future brides about Chic Bahamas Weddings. Unfortunately, it seems like they take on too many weddings, more than they can handle in order to give each bride the attention their wedding deserves. There were more mistakes than I can count (for example, information provided to vendors was wrong such as timeline, names, processional orders, etc.). Information was not given to me or to my vendors in a timely manner. I never felt like they were on my team working with me and instead only made everything a lot harder than it needed to be. In the beginning, I began to think that it was only my wedding that was slipping through the cracks since they seem to have amazing reviews on Wedding Wire, and on their Instagram. However, after discussing my frustration with my vendors, they asked me to please leave an honest review as they have constantly heard the same frustrations over and over with past brides. She was also extremely rude to not only myself and my now Husband, but also to my family, and guests who asked questions. Marva does not exemplify what a wedding coordinator should be in both personality and professionalism. All vendors that I used, agreed and had difficulty working with her. I never felt that she was actively listening to me during our calls, hence the mistakes that were made. As much as I would love to sit here and write a great review, it would be a disservice to future brides. Please do not be fooled by her years of experience and rave reviews on their Instagram as it is unfortunately all smoke and mirrors.
