How the dice fell...(hold on to your chairs, this ones a dosey) It was the middle of July when I was quite literally kidnapped by two of my friends (Alex and Paige) for what they said was a "much needed VayCay". Their little "trip" was in the middle of my JROTC studies and crossed state lines into the middle of No-WiFi-Land Lousiana. I was less than pleased. The only redeeming factor was the fact our "cabin" was right on the rivers bank with a public boat launch and pavilion a quick walk away. Thats where I met Kenneth. Paige noticed voices from the launch and as always she had to go flirt with any avalible male. So Alex and I followed and sure enough there was a small group of people chilling in the Pavilion. so while Paige and Alex struck up a conversation with the group, I made myself useful by doing cannonballs. Brilliant I know. Soon everyone was trying to outdo the others and we soon degressed into a mass of laughing insanity. After things calmed down, we went our seperate ways. The next day the three of us went back down to the launch hoping they had returned and sure enough Kenneth was there along with two new faces, Dallas and Eric. Anouther day of swimming passed with Kenneth favoring my redheaded friend Alex, Dallas and Paige discussing his squirrel, and I was having fun bantering with Eric. But the entire time I couldnt stop looking at Kenneth and his smile. Kenneth and Alex hit it off so well on one occasion I had to playfully beat Kenneth over the head with a life jacket to get them to stop snogging. (Because the british terms fits much more than "makeing-out") The weekend passed and sadly Kenneth chose to get close to Alex so before we left they had exchanged numbers. On the trip back to Houston, Alex was tittering on about how cute "Kenny" was and how she might date him. Paige then brought up the fact Alex still had a boyfriend of 6 months. I was shocked since I was under the impression that they had broken it off. I was even more shocked when Alex merely said she could have one in each state. Its not that I felt obligated to Kenneth in anyway but more in the fact I knew he just got out of a bad relationship and being used to cheat probubly wasnt the best thing to do to lift his already crushed spirits. So back home with my beloved WiFi; I found Kenneth on facebook and (long story short) warned him of Alex's intentions. It would be an understatement to say he was angry. But after a while and over a few days we slowly became friends. I kept him oblivious to my 'crush' until after a few weeks I asked if I could rewrite one of his stories of how we all met from my point of view. I filled it with all my thoughts, wants, and dreams. I wrote it honestly, not hiding a single emotion. Poor Kenneth had no idea what was instore and I could only hope he shared what I poured into the paper. In my mind all kinds of questions ran wild, asking over and over again how would he take it. I got my answer a few days before school started up again. He called me and asked if the story was true. If those were my real feelings. I said they were even if he didnt share them. But he did; Kenneth asked me to be his girlfriend over the phone! HAHA. Many people say long distance relationships never work. Well two years later dispite the 400 miles, Army Medic training and impending deployment; I love Kenneth more than ever and his smile still lights up my world the way it did when we first met.
