Wedding details
William and I met under some pretty interesting circumstances. Little did we know that when we both decided to go to a little country western bar on August 30th 2014, that our whole lives would change (for the better). I was out celebrating my birthday and he was dragged out by some fellow Marines, when he lost a game of pool, was “forced” to be a wingman and then sat themselves at the same table I was. The funny part is, his friend was actually the one trying to flirt me and I wasn’t very interested. When my friend announced that we were out celebrating my birthday, William asked me when my birthday was. Little did we know, our birthdays are exactly one week apart by the day and year. I remember laying my eyes on him for the very first time and thinking “That one… I want THAT one.” It was all over from there, I asked him to dance and we danced until the bar closed down. Before he even got the chance to ask me, I asked for his phone number and we went our separate ways for the evening. Two days later, we had our first date in Oceanside, CA on an unseasonably hot September day. We saw the movie "Guardians of the Galaxy" and afterwards grabbed coffee, he was so nervous he accidently ordered his coffee hot! We spent the next 12 hours straight talking and laughing about ourselves, our families and our pasts. Just as we were about to part ways, he went to exit and I pinched onto the sleeve of his jacket and asked him, “That’s it?” He was surprised but came back and kissed me for the first time and we have been together almost every single day ever since. Now in regards to the proposal, he tricked me! I already knew about the ring and I figured he’d be proposing at some point while we were up in Oregon visiting for a week but while at the airport, he made a very convincing display of distress when he realized he never picked up the ring from the jeweler’s. I was also a little disappointed but I pushed it aside because this trip was about visiting his family and not about us getting engaged. The gig was almost up at one point because while on a hike the same day he did propose, he got too close to me and the back of my hand smacked into his leg and into the ring box in his pocket. I asked him what the heck he had in his pocket and he froze. However, I gave him an out without even knowing it when I asked if that was his pocket knife and he quickly apologized and promised not to do it again. On June 16th 2015, William got down on one knee while we were visiting Crater Lake in Oregon, a spot I wanted to cross off my bucket list, and asked if I would spend the rest of my life with him. I said yes! We found out later that my Grandparents, who have been married and together for over 60 years, had their honeymoon at the very same spot! It’s been almost a year now and we seem to fall in love with each other all over again, every day. We both have what the other is lacking and we help to balance each other, we love each other for everything the other is and isn’t. Our flaws and faults are just a part of what makes us, us. And we love each other for them still. We are so excited to be getting married and to be continuing on this adventure know as life together, holding hands every step of the way.
