Devon and I first met in High School. We loitered in the hallways and irritated each other on a daily basis. He drove me crazy and he thought I hated him (not sure why? other than I was a bit violent in high school and would hit him when he annoyed me). Dev graduated first, in 1999, and entered the US Navy. I graduated in 2000 and began college. When Devon finished his six years of military service he returned to New York with the intention of eventually moving back to San Diego or Washington. In 2006 , I was single and intent on staying single for a while. A friend from High School, Christian, found me on myspace (back when people still used myspace) and even though he couldn't remember my name he remembered me and invited me to a party that Devon was having. At the time I was working about 80 hours a week, living on my own and going to grad school, but I figured why not? It would be cool to catch up with some friends that I hadn't seen in years. It turned out to be a good decision because from that day on Devon and I talked every day. We spent a lot of that summer together just hanging out in between our crazy schedules. By October 2006, I had to admit that we were in a relationship, even though I had tried to avoid it! In our case, we really did find the right person when we weren't looking.
