Amber

The couple informally met on campus at Neumann College in 2004 when Louie was a freshman and Amber was a sophomore. Although they lived in the same building, they hardly ever spoke or crossed paths due to having two separate lives on campus. Aside from Amber being involved in several organizations and clubs, she was also very busy working part time on and off campus for Neumann Campus Safety, as well as Victoria's Secret in the stockroom and as a reading specialist at a charter school in Chester, PA. Louie, spent his time with other freshmen in his hall and was also active with Neumann Campus Ministry so the two were hardly ever in the same space at the same time, that is until April 6th, 2005. Amber and friends, Chanelle, Cathy, and Woldy had just returned to campus after dinner at the Cheesecake Factory to celebrate her 20th birthday when they'd run into Marc Hill and Louie walking back to the dorms from the cafeteria. The guys joined in walking with the girls back to Amber and Cathy's dorm room to chill and hang out. This was the first  time Amber & Louie discovered that they both had roots in Maryland; Amber born and raised in Baltimore, Louie having completed high school in Germantown, MD originally from Staten Island, NY. They became instant friends who kept in touch over the summer and continued their friendship into the next school year when Amber became an RA on campus. Amber and Louie would break the rules to hang out during the dorm’s strict non-visitors hours, where all of Amber’s friends and residents of her hall would crowd into her small, shared dorm room with the door propped during her nights “on-duty” watching Flavor of Love and cracking jokes on each other. It was fun times during Fall of 2005 on campus as friends. The moment that changed the course of their friendship was an unfortunate occurrence on the highway as Amber, Louie, her friend, Chanelle and two of Amber’s residents traveled back from a party at Temple University when Amber’s car “the three piece suit” broke down about 8 miles from Neumann amidst the beginning of a snow storm leaving the group stranded. The two began their relationship January 20th, 2006, as Amber changed the course of Louie’s thoughts toward life and love while Louie helped Amber to learn to loosen up, enjoy life, and to cherish simplicity. From their beginning as friends they knew they’d be together forever even throughout challenges within the relationship such as the death of Amber’s mom, Patricia, in November 2006, graduating two years apart, and the beginning of two careers in a city away from their families. Their union has been especially joyous as they’ve become lovers of city life in Philadelphia, become parents of Jonathan-Luisane, born August 15th, 2010 and have strengthened themselves within Christ and will finally be obeying His gospel together.
