Yellow Hook Productions is a small, artist-run, event-cinematography production company based in the Boston and New York areas, founded by husband and wife team, Andrea and Douglass.

Focusing on capturing the candid times between friends and family, Yellow Hook Productions pays close attention to your relationship, your loved ones, and the moments of your day you didn't get to see. We believe in a documentary approach - remaining unobtrusive and allowing the day to unfold naturally, while relying on our experience and eyes to know when and where to capture the unanticipated moments of a day.

Our Approach:

We think that wedding films are made not just for a couple but for a family and circle of loved ones; they help us understand who we are and where we come from - and they offer that insight to generations down the road. Working as a two-person team we capture your wedding in an intimate and honest fashion that catches the moments you might miss and draws a picture of the day that is tailored to you and your loved ones. Most weddings will have dancing and cake, but we resist shooting and editing with simple formulas. We pay close attention to the people you've brought together and the unique atmosphere and energy of your wedding.

We also like to talk with all our couples before their wedding day to really understand their dynamic, and what is important to them. Our films aren't meant to be watched just once - they're intended to capture the connections between people and preserve a sense of them for years down the line.

Why Video?:

Film and video capture life in ways still images simply can't - be it an old friend tearing up during a toast, your grandfather laughing at his own jokes, or your parents dancing at the end of the night - they describe so much of our loved ones and the moments we share.

Advances in camera technology have made it possible for your wedding video to be a profoundly different experience from the grainy washed-out VHS tapes of the 1980s and 90s. We work with high-end DSLR cameras and photography lenses, professional audio equipment, and a range of support and stabilization gear to bring a cinematic look to your film. And now it's easier than ever to share your highlights film over the Web.

We are both artists with experienced eyes and instinctive sensibilities, and we use our tools and talents to record everything in incredible detail and texture, true to the day.
