Originally built in 191 as part of Consumers Ice Co., 32 -34 Woolfe Street spent nearly half a century in service to the Meddin family. The Meddin Bros Meat Packing Company was a highly successful meat storage operation in the heart of industrial historic Charleston. After sitting empty for the past 20 years, the beautiful brick building was recently renovated and turned into a caberet-style theater which is now home to The Village Repertory Theater Company.
This 17,000 square foot complex serves as a cultural anchor of the rapidly transforming and vibrant upper King Street section of peninsula Charleston. The unique space offers a perfect setting for small or large groups who are looking for an historic Charleston venue for cocktail parties, meetings, rehearsal dinners, wedding receptions, birthday parties or any other special events. The welcoming lobby area with wine bar can accommodate 40 people the spacious Davis Theater can accommodate up to 300 with a full- service bar or up to 450 people with the additional Sidestage room attached to the main theatre, in the back. a convenient parking is available and the building is ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible.

Woolfe Street Playhouse is a beautiful and UNIQUE venue! Keely was so nice, and she answered all our questions! We are so excited to have our wedding reception in this amazing venue! I highly recommend it if you are lucky enough to get a date where they aren't doing a show!!!!Sent on 09/04/2016
