Upward Films is a wedding videography company in Olympia, Washington that specializes in romantic and unforgettable wedding videos. Owner Ryan Hanscom believes wedding films are just as important as photographs because they allow you to relive all the wonderful moments you are likely to forget. Through wedding films, you can watch the moment you spoke your vows and catch the moments you missed while you were celebrating.

Experience

Ryan has been part of the film industry for over 25 years. For many years, he provided films for corporate firms like the Washington State Legislator. Then in 2018, Ryan founded Upward Films where he pursues his passion for beautiful wedding videos. Upward Films records weddings in and around Longview, Chehalis, Puyallup, Tacoma, and many other areas in Washington State.

Services Offered

Upward Films offers a wide variety of services for wedding ceremonies, receptions, pre-wedding preparations, and rehearsals. From cinematic to storytelling, Ryan uses a variety of videography styles to create diverse and unique wedding videos. To ensure he records all the special moments of your wedding, Ryan uses drones and multiple cameras. Upward Films will record for additional hours and shoot just one event a day. Proof of liability insurance is available. Ryan offers raw footage and high-definition highlight and full-feature videos. Your gorgeous videos by Upward Films are available in the following formats:

Ryan is an amazing videographer! He really took into consideration everything we were looking to capture and the moments he got were so candid. I had multiple people come up to me during the wedding and mentioned how Ryan was such a kind and awesome person. I am so grateful he was able to do our wedding and the highlight film turned out so great! Ryan is truly one of a kind and you can tell he has a passion for video.

Ryan was professional, personable, and helpful. He went above and beyond to help ensure our wedding continued on schedule when the wedding coordinator did not show up. Ryan worked exceptionally well the photographer and the DJ. Family and friends spoke very highly of him and his work. The video Ryan created captures so many special moments of our day.

One of the best wedding decisions we made was having Ryan with Upward Films as our videographer! Ryan was very easy to talk to and kind, my husband and I felt comfortable meeting him from the beginning and with the filming and interaction. Our family even commented on how nice and personable he was. He was professional and always kept us up to date on the process before the event and after, regarding the timeline of videos. He even attended the rehearsal to scope out the area and grab footage! I love how all his videos are different and tell a story! You can truly see how much thought and talent he puts into his work! He captured our story perfectly! The preview video was amazing, but wow; he blew us away with the highlight film! So amazing! Had us crying and laughing throughout! He captured moments we may not have seen or caught and somehow perfectly put a whole day into an amazing 8 minute highlight! I am so happy we had Ryan do our video and it is something we will cherish forever. Friends that weren't at the wedding commented on how they felt as if they had been there. He is very creative and talented and did an amazing job, I can't say enough! Highly recommend!! Worth every penny!!!!! Thank you Ryan!

I am a wedding photographer in Skagit Valley and I got the chance to work along side Ryan at a recent wedding we were just on. I have to say, upon meeting Ryan, I could tell this guy was going to be an easy going, all around nice guy to work with... and he was! He was super mindful of not getting in the way of my shots and he is also very communicative.
After seeing his work from his website and on his social media pages, I absolutely love the guy's work! He is very creative and it not only shows when he's filming, but also in his videos.
Ryan is now my go-to video guy for videography! I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a friendly, awesome, creative videographer who not only listens, but is also super great at what he does!

Ryan with Upward Films is an amazing videographer! He came all the way from Olympia to film my husband and I's wedding. He made sure to work with us very closely to help give us some stunning footage of our wedding day, catching priceless candid moments and putting everything together just the right way to really bring you back into the moment; so much so that i can't help but cry again watching my Maid of Honor's speech! We could not have asked for a better, more friendly and enthusiastic videographer to work with!

Working with Upward Films for our videographer was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Our highlight video captured our day perfectly from start to finish. Ryan was there to capture the special moments that as the bride & groom we missed. His professionalism, dedication, communication and talent are truly amazing. Loved having him around on our wedding day, and loved that he paid attention to making sure we never feeling overwhelmed by having a camera near us. We are so thankful to have had Upward Films and Ryan capture the memories of our wedding that will last so much longer than the conversations, cake and flowers! (Not that those aren’t great too...)

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Ryan from Upward Films. His vision is amazing, he's an absolute joy to work with. He knows how to capture moments without being intrusive, allowing for a genuine feel to the whole day. I appreciated his thoughtfulness, always double checking that people were camera ready before he entered a room. When I watched his final product for the day, I cried. It was perfect. He clearly knows what he's doing and goes about his work with a constant smile. Do yourself a favor, hire him!!

We have had the opportunity to work with Upward Films for several of our events at our barn/farm wedding venue. Ryan is fantastic to work with and helps everybody feel comfortable and at ease. So many wonderful things to say about Upward Films, I don’t even know where to begin! Ryan is very kind, professional, and talented - truly a pleasure to work with and be around.
Ryan created the most beautiful wedding video for us - it is something we are beyond grateful to have and will continue to treasure for the rest of our lives. When we saw the trailer we knew it would be amazing, but wow - the final version blew us away!! He captured so many beautiful little moments and precious interactions throughout the day, and artfully pieced them together into a stunning video compilation that brilliantly showcases our love for one another. He also made sure to capture the sweet nature of the relationships among our family and friends - moments we did not necessarily get the opportunity to see as we were so busy running around on our big day! It was so nice to be able to see how much fun everyone was having.
The amount of thought and talent that is put into producing his videos is phenomenal. We could not be more grateful to have these special memories captured forever. It is lovely to know that we will always have this to look back to.
