Upstate Strings is a collective of professional musicians who perform at weddings and private events, based in Rochester, New York, with a second branch in Toronto, Canada. From your ceremony to your cocktail hour and reception, these skilled instrumentalists look forward to providing the soundtrack to your day.

Upstate Strings is a versatile wedding band that can provide solo, duo, trio, or quartet combinations. From the ethereal sound of an acoustic violin to the stirring strings of an electric cello, this diverse team offers a range of musical styles. Cellist and owner of Upstate Strings Natalie V is proud to lead a woman-owned, LGBTQ+-friendly team of talented musicians. Perfect String Duet!

We hired a cellist and violinist from Upstate Strings to play at our wedding ceremony and during our cocktail hour. These artists were so accommodating and were such a pleasure to work with! They learned a new song for us for our wedding procession, and we were blown away by their talents!

We had a Brigerton-esque themed cocktail hour which was scheduled for an hour and a half. The music was whimsical and divine, and with their sound system could be heard throughout the grounds of the reception. We were absolutely thrilled with Upstate Strings, and highly recommend them to add romance and whimsy to your event!

Absolutely incredible, made our ceremony and reception magical!

We were so lucky to find Upstate Strings. Natalie was absolutely amazing to work with, super responsive and truly passionate about our wedding. It's very obvious that she wants your ceremony or wedding music to not only be amazing, but truly be a reflection of you and your spouse, and works with you to do so.

Guests were finding me all evening to tell me about how excited they were when they heard songs they recognized. Not only does Natalie and her team play lots of popular and classical music, they even composed a string quartet version of our engagement song to play as we came down the isle. From the ceremony to the cocktail hour, every note and song was simply amazing. Highly recommend them for your wedding!

Beautiful Ceremony!

Being a strings player myself and having heard hundreds of strings renditions of popular songs, I figured going into our ceremony there was a 50/50 chance that our string duo would meet my expectations. Boy, did they BLOW that out of the water! They played prelude, processional, and recessional music for us at our Greek Orthodox ceremony in Rochester and did a beautiful job. I wasn't emotional until I could hear them playing. You won't regret hiring them.

Phenomenal Band

Choosing Natalie and Upstate Strings for our ceremony and cocktail hour was one the best decisions we made. Natalie is just a complete pleasure to work with - she's so friendly, and enthusiastic, and of course a very talented musician. She and her bandmates (we hired their string trio) were excellent. We gave a lot of vague ideas during planning, but Natalie was able to intuitively understand what we were going for and delivered above and beyond on the wedding day. Their repertoire is huge - if there is something you'd like them to play, I can't imagine they wouldn't be able to accomodate. My only regret is that we didn't hire them to play our full reception as well.
