True DJ Entertainment is what the name states. We are a team of true DJs dedicated to making sure that the music at your special event is played the you expect it to be, and that your guests enjoy and remember the night of celebrating to the fullest extent. We at True DJ Entertainment value real DJ skills. Any person can rent or own a mixer and label him or herself as a DJ/Emcee, but that is not the accountability we prefer at True DJ Entertainment nor what we provide to our clientele. Our DJ team has practiced the true art of DJing and has demonstrated these skills at a a variety of events, ranging from spinning music at night clubs and bars to mixing all types of genres of music at weddings, sweet 16's, and other formal and corporate events. We continually practice our skills and give thought to create ear-pleasing, "ohhhh"-dropping mixes. And not only are we capable on the one's and two's, but we are proven emcees who spend time refining our microphone presence and voice. We are also lighting technicians and provide suitable lighting to help establish and create the atmosphere needed for your event. We have been in the DJ game for 9 years, and our business has always been based on referrals and word-of-mouth, but as an increase in requests for more information about us has developed, we have decided to meet the those requests through the birth of True DJ Entertainment. Through more online media and personal showcases at many of the fantastic reception halls in Central, Northern, and Southern New Jersey, True DJ Entertainment will be giving its clientele the option to learn more about the exciting entertainment we can bring to your event.

About our team:

James (DJ Sway J) - I have always been interested in music and grew up on late 80s and early 90s's pop music, club, dance, and hip hop. In my college years in the early 2000's, I began organizing my music and , using audio software, recorded party mixes and often received many compliments for the mixes I created. College was a great time and I enjoyed the balance of academics and partying. I graduated from college and entered the teaching profession, but I continued to enjoy good music and put together CD mixes for family and friends and for my basketball teams.

In 2007, while sitting with a best friend and messing around with more audio software, I decided to purchase my first DJ controller and learn the art of DJing. For over six months, I was a True "Bedroom" DJ. I spent days counting beats per minute, counting bars of 16, and developing my timing. I recorded myself and listened with my friends for criticism. Once I felt I was ready, i began putting my name out to bartenders where my friends and I frequented. One evening, a bar hit me up (giving me a three hour heads up!) to give me the chance to spin my first set. Coincidentally, my buddy DJ Amaze was actually there hanging out that night. I spun music for patrons of the bar and absolutely fell in love with creating the vibe and good feeling that mixing created for people who were out to celebrate, dance, and have a good time. From that moment, the my DJ origin became history.

I began to receive from friends of friends more offers to spin at other local bars and clubs. I also began DJing weddings, birthday parties, and other formal events both personal and corporate. During all these opportunities, I continued to develop my style of mixing through the practice of all types of DJing skills and tricks, both old and new, including the art of scratching (also called Turntablism - a true skill lost among today's button pushers). I studied, and still do, old school and contemporary DJ's who I see as my mentors. I still enjoy practicing the fundamentals and learning new way to put two songs together, so that I can bring those new mixes to the party.

Shawn (DJ Amaze) -

I go by the name DJ Amaze. I Started out by working local house parties and college parties spinning the best that I know how, from playing the hottest mixes and turning up the parties. After that I linked up with some promoters who helped me realize my skills. They promoted me to rock out major clubs from Club Envy, Dolce Lounge, Rome Night in the City, and Breakfast Club, just to name a few. I also opened up for some of the hottest DJ’s on the radio today, like DJ Whallah, from HOT 97, and DJ Sussone, from power 105.1, in NYC. I have been the Official DJ for the group TST (THE STEADY TRUTH) and Brooklyn’s own FLY, as well as head of the TNS Movement TEAMNOSLEEP. I’ve rocked out numerous weddings, bridal showers, bachelor, and bachelorette parties, and so on.

Now, DJ Sway J and I are taking our skills to bring TRUE DJ ENTERTAINMENT to new heights. I love what I do and put everything into DJing. It's my passion, and the best is still to come.
