Born in New Jersey, Pete Murano grew up listening to his father’s blues records. He learned to play the saxophone at eleven years old, and quickly began mastering several musical instruments, including teaching himself to play the piano and the guitar his uncle gave him. While attending high school in St. Louis, he participated in the marching, concert, symphonic and jazz bands. Soon, his musical interests and focus grew to include R&B and Rock.
His formal musical training continued on a music scholarship at Loyola University in New Orleans, where he received a B.S. degree in jazz studies. As a college student, Pete began learning all the standards of the varied musical styles organic to the city and started playing in the dimly lit clubs on fabled Frenchmen Street.
In 2003, Pete joined forces with Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue. Here, he developed a guitar sound that was all his own, combining elements of rock, jazz, and funk. With Shorty, Pete has written, recorded, and toured the world. Thousands of festivals, tours, and corporate events later, Pete brings to True Blue Brass Band an extensive knowledge of the working side of an event — on stage as well as backstage production.
Together, in 2019 Pete Murano and Amanda Thompson founded True Blue Brass Band. Our mission is to offer our clients talented performing artists and innovative concepts, pushing the limits of traditional forms of brass band music, while maintaining a high level of excellence in production.
Anna Lynne joined the team in 2019, and is Vice President of Frenchmen Street Productions, "FSP," the exclusive booking agency for True Blue Brass Band. Her passion is engaging with clients and acting as the point-person for all incoming booking inquiries. She and her sister, Amanda, and are the life-force behind FSP, and while Amanda prefers to be on-site coordinating, Anna Lynne runs the show behind-the-scenes and in the office. Her attention to detail and joyful approach to her work ensures that the booking process is stream-lined and stress-free.
