The place(BALL-EDDLEMAN-MCFARLAND HOUSE) is stunning and the staff very helpful and polite. Its was just stunning and glad my money went to the Historic Fort Worth Fund to help keep places like this in the world.

Thistle Hill is the perfect place to have your wedding ceremony & reception. The house is absolutely beautiful and the employees are great to work with! When my husband and I first got engaged I knew immediately that I wanted my ceremony & reception at Thistle Hill because of the atmosphere and backdrop it creates.

Fantastic venue! All the staff were really nice. We were able to bring in our own catering. We did a butterfly release when we were leaving since there are restrictions on rice and bubbles. All the pictures look beautiful because the venue is such a wonderful place.

Beautiful venue!! More than I could have asked for. Made gorgeous pictures, especially at sunset. At night the house is beautifully lit. It is a good venue for people who don't want to get married in an popular place where everyone else gets married. Very unique and reasonably priced. The only criticism I have is that the company that runs the house for rentals could have been a little more accommodating. But otherwise, a beautiful house!

Wedding at Thistle Hill

This venue is beautiful and amazing. Getting married in a historic house or museum was something I always wanted to do. However, if you plan to use this venue please take these things into consideration.
1. It is very difficult to plan a time to see the location initially and harder after the first time.
2. It is not super easy to get into contact with them because they have very specific limited hours.
3. Your rehearsal time is 1 hour and you must be done in that hour. I had to decorate and practice in that hour with no leeway time and that included them giving us instructions. After the hour was over to the dot we were asked to leave. I thought I left my bouquet in the building and they would not budge to let me back in to get it (thankfully after a small breakdown I found it.)
4. Also about the rehearsal - our main contact was not present, so any questions we had could not be answered making the wedding day that much more hectic.
5. During our meetings they had explicitly said they would be around during the wedding and I did not once see them. I know that the wedding day is hectic and everyone is running around, but I still had questions and so did the people helping me that could not be answered.
6. There is one room they say you have to use to put your drinks in because there is a drain, so we did just that. Day of the wedding we found out that you could not actually use the drain itself.
7. When we first visited the venue it was February and many of the flowers and trees were dead (as to be expected). They told us that it would not look like that and that the flowers would be very much alive. Unfortunately, they weren’t and there were weeds everywhere.

Again, I loved this venue, but for the amount of money we paid we had much higher expectations. The location is perfect, but the service was not superb.

When i first saw this venue i just knew i had to have it. It's absolutely beautiful and i'm glad to have chosen this spot. However, the day of my wedding was completely different , The staff that was on site was rude to my guest and made them feel uncomfortable . Also , they stopped my wedding well before the hours that i'd reserved and i did not appreciate that at all ! I've tried to contact someone later to discuss a few things and my concerns about how my guest felt and i never got a response . If someone were to ask me about my experience before my wedding i would have said nothing but positive things but now , not so much . Not only did my guest leave early because they , and i quote, said "i'm going to go ahead and leave because she's making me feel unwelcome" but i also had someone come up to me and say that thye overheard one of the staff say "its a Zoo in here , My Gosh" . I will never recommend this venue to anyone again .

Thistle Hill is a beautiful facility and a great option for the price, but don't expect one ounce of customer service from the staff. When I first started looking into Thistle Hill as an option for my ceremony, I exchanged a few emails with the venue coordinator. She answered my questions by telling me to look at their website, which I had already looked at and did not have the answers to my questions. I was also told at first that a rehearsal was included in my package, but was later told that a rehearsal was not included in the 4 hour package and I would have to pay for the 7 hour package to have a rehearsal there. While a little irritating, the real issue came the week of the wedding.
The Thursday before my wedding, I received a phone call to let me know the wedding the night before mine was using a tent out on the lawn and they would not be taking it down before my wedding. It was a huge tent directly next to the area where my ceremony was to take place and I was told it would not be in there way because there should be room next to it to fit my chairs. When I said I had not planned on a tent being there and wanted it taken down, they said according to my contract they were not obligated to take it down, but if I really wanted it down we could pay $600 to have it removed. After reviewing the contract myself later that day, I found that the contract actually said the opposite, that you have to have your tent taken down before the next event. It wasn't until the next day and the third phone call where we had them read the contract out loud that they finally agreed to take down the tent.
The mansion itself is beautiful and the day of the wedding the tent was down and my lawn ceremony was just as I had imagined, but their customers are not their main concern.
