The Wheeler House is a historic wedding venue located in Ball Ground, Georgia. This new and custom-built barn, beautiful historic home, and lavish and draped arbor create a dramatic setting for a wedding ceremony or reception. With unique touches such as chandeliers hanging 40 feet into 100-year-old oak trees, Edison lights, a fire pit, and wrap-around porches, The Wheeler House delivers exceptional wedding experiences with a healthy dose of Southern charm.
Facilities and Capacity
Indoor and outdoor event spaces at The Wheeler House can accommodate up to 300 wedding guests and be configured to fit your exact event needs. The historic 1906 Wheeler House features 6,000 square feet of event space with pine tongue and groove floors, antique furnishings, and two wrap-around porches with romantic drapery. A beautifully constructed arbor offers the perfect setting for an outdoor ceremony or reception and includes a thousand feet of Edison string lights. The climate-controlled Barn has a spacious dance floor, draping over entryways, chandeliers, an outdoor deck, a large patio, and a loft area.

Accommodation
This facility offers a bridal cottage for on-site accommodations for wedding couples and the bridal party. These three historic on-site cottages have been renovated and restored to feature historic highlights along with modern amenities. Cottages include handcrafted shutters, trim, and hardwood floors with a view of 22 beautiful acres and one of the highest peaks in Ball Ground.
Other Facilities
The Wheeler House provides a bridal suite and dressing rooms for preparing for your wedding ceremony or reception, each with its own private bathroom. The bridal suite includes a large clawfoot tub, original to the house. The groom’s suite and lounge area are located in the barn and include a TV. A billiards room in the house acts as an additional space for lounging prior to a wedding event.
Other Services
The Wheeler House is an ideal location for hosting private parties of varying sizes. In addition to wedding ceremonies and receptions, this location can accommodate all of your wedding events, such as engagement parties, bridal showers, and rehearsal dinners. This venue is also available for hosting corporate meetings, holiday parties, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions.
History
The Wheeler House was built in 1906 by the owner of the Wheeler lumber yard. In February 2010, the Wheeler House was renovated to its original luster for the first time since 1906. The climate-controlled Barn was added in 2012 by owner Lee Lusk to accent the historic home and serve as an additional events venue.

Best Wedding Venue in North GA
The entire staff at The Wheeler House was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and consistently positive from the moment we booked through our wedding day. Having one location for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception kept the day flowing beautifully. We also loved having both indoor and outdoor options. We had a winter wedding, and while the southern weather allowed us to be outside, knowing we had a stunning indoor backup option gave us so much peace of mind during planning in case of rain or colder temperatures.
We also booked The Wheeler House cottages for our wedding weekend, which made getting ready and overnight accommodations extremely convenient. Having our family and bridal party together all weekend made the experience even more special.
While The Wheeler House may initially seem more expensive, we absolutely got our money’s worth. Because so much is included, we had fewer vendors to coordinate on our own, which saved us time, stress, and additional costs. If you’re looking for a beautiful venue in North Georgia that offers incredible value and includes so many essentials, I highly recommend The Wheeler House.

The historic home, the beautifully maintained grounds, and the stunning barn all come together to create a wedding setting that feels both elegant and inviting. It was truly my dream venue!
What truly sets The Wheeler House apart, though, is the incredible staff. They were attentive, organized, and genuinely invested in making our day flawless. Laiken and Ashley were prompt with responding to any emails I sent and answering questions - they both made the process so easy! Emma Ray was our wedding coordinator and I cannot say enough good things about her!! We never had to worry about a thing—she is truly incredible and an amazing asset to The Wheeler House. Working with her was so much fun!

From the start, they made planning effortless and stress-free. Their list of preferred vendors was such a lifesaver every vendor we found through them was professional, easy to work with, and aligned perfectly with the level of quality and care The Wheeler House provides. It made searching for florists, DJs, and caterers so simple, and we always felt confident that we were in good hands.
Throughout the process, the team went above and beyond from the delicious tastings and prompt, friendly text check-ins to see how planning was going, to the detailed final meeting where every last detail was covered. We always felt supported, guided, and genuinely cared for.
On our wedding day, everything ran flawlessly. The staff handled every detail with professionalism, kindness, and such calm confidence that we could truly relax and just soak in every moment. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful the property was and how smooth and seamless the entire day felt.
