Steer Clear
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend The Photo Box. Initially, I was very excited upon hiring them. The owner was very responsive and they seemed to have good reviews. However, as my wedding approached, I had several questions and could not seem to get a hold of anyone. I emailed the owner twice and sent a message via their online portal. Finally, someone reached out via text to let me know they would be the attendant on the wedding day. I asked her several questions and although she was slow to respond at first, she was very helpful and I felt more at ease. A few days before the wedding, I asked to see a mockup of what the photo strip would look like. I had to text several times before getting a reply.
Fast forward to our wedding day. The photo booth opened at 5:30 for the cocktail hour and closed during speeches. Shortly after dancing began, I had several guests, including myself and my husband, wanting to take photos only to be told the system needed to be rebooted. I came up a little while later hoping everything was now ready to go and was told again that the system was still rebooting. It wasn't too long after this that the attendant came over and said it wouldn't reboot and she was going to pack up her things and leave. I was extremely disappointed. These were to be my wedding favors and most of my guests were not able to take photos. She told me before she left, she would refund me $300 of the $800 I was paid.
Several days after the wedding, after I'd had time to think, I reached out via email and text to say I really felt I was owed at least 60 percent of the total payment as less than 30 of my over 90 guests actually had their photos taken. It took a week before I heard anything back. She told me she would not be refunding me 60 percent and said most of my guests had their pictures taken, which was simply untrue. I even counted in the book I was given and roughly 20 photo strips were there. She said they would only be refunding me $400. Another week passed before I received a refund via Venmo.
I do understand things happen, however when you're paying $800 for a service that wasn't fully performed, not to mention their lack of communication, receiving only half back seems wrong to me. I realize there was a non-refundable deposit but as a sign of good faith, they should have at least refunded me the 60 percent I asked for. The photo booth was one of the first things I booked. I was so excited and was never even able to use it myself. Do yourself a favor and avoid this company.
