The essence of my business is to capture a fun and playful spirit along with the real emotion of the day. Your photos should be timeless. They should tell a story. Ultimately I am here to craft pictures that encapsulate the story of you.
I approach weddings in a relaxed, "I'm here to help" kind of way. There's already enough stress that goes along with planning a wedding, and I don't want you to have to feel that on your big day. I can help answer all questions beforehand, walk you through the details, and help you build your day-of timeline. This way, there is nothing left to worry about. We got you!

Hey I'm Lauren - owner of The Northern Story.
I'm a Michigan-based photographer who loves to wander and create. I'll go where you go!
Back in high school, a name popped into my head - The Northern Story. I remember drawing logos and branding for the name in old notebooks just for fun. I had no idea why or what I would do with it, but I kept it for the future. After a few years, my passion for photography grew and I knew exactly what I would use that name for. In 2018, I launched my photography business.
I photograph weddings, families, and the importance stuff of life. The essence of my business is to capture a fun and playful spirit with a little bit of editorial flair. Ultimately we are here to capture the story of you.
It's truly a joy for me to photograph the moments and people that make life beautiful. What’s more is that I get to do a lot of my photography with my husband as well, so if you book The Northern Story, you just might meet Nate too.
I have a strong inclination towards Jesus. I love to laugh, enjoy a good cup of coffee, and getting out on that dance floor.
