This venue was spectacular and Albert was incredible! He would respond to our questions immediately for 18 months until the wedding. We do not have one complaint. The pictures were absolutely stunning. It is so unique from "typical" wedding venues. We had SO many people come up to us and tell us this was the coolest venue they had ever been to!

The New York State Museum was the perfect venue for our wedding. Albert, the events coordinator for the museum, is a dream to work with - he was incredibly responsive, patient, and knowledgable, and he went above and beyond what was expected to help us plan our wedding. We had our reception on the fourth floor terrace of the Museum, and it is such a unique and gorgeous space with so much to offer. Our guests loved the Carousel, which ran for 2 hours and made for a fun activity and amazing photo ops. The outdoor terrace is expansive and provides gorgeous views of the plaza and the cathedral, and Albert makes sure that the fountains on the plaza run all night long. It’s truly stunning.
We had 260 guests, and the NYS Museum was the perfect space for our large guest count. No one ever felt crowded, even when the dance floor was full, because we had the entire fourth floor and the terrace for guests to congregate or take a break from dancing. I am so happy we booked the NYS Museum for our wedding - thank you, Albert, for helping to make it all happen!!

The New York State Museum is the most amazing, perfect, unique venue in a world where every wedding is the same.
Albany is the city where my husband and I met, fell in love, lived, and eventually wed. We knew we wanted an Albany-centric wedding, and what is more Albany than being steps away from The Plaza, The Egg and The Capitol?
The fourth floor of The Museum is huge, and you have access to all of it. Rental of the outside patio is optional.
It, unfortunately, was forecast for torrential downpours on my wedding day (we ended up being totally fine!), but not wanting to chance it, we moved the ceremony inside in front of the carousel. What a cool moment. As soon as we kissed and we were announced husband and wife, the carousel started.
Albert is so easy to work with. He's so involved and helpful. He was there the entire wedding day.
It is so awesome to be surrounded by museum exhibits - you hardly need to add anything yourself!
BRIDES BEWARE, though: the steps of the museum leading to The Empire State Plaza are being removed. There is a huge, HUGE fence up, pretty much completely obstructing the view from the inside. I started crying when I first saw. On my wedding night, though, I doubt anyone even noticed there was a fence or construction or that everything was something other than perfect. This construction will be happening until 2016 I think. The view is still accessible from the sides of the patio.

My husband and I absolutely loved having our wedding reception at the NYS museum. Everything there was absolutely gorgeous. We worked with a gentleman named Albert and he was great.

My husband and I met on the 4th of July at the Empire State Plaza and were thrilled to have our wedding reception overlooking the very spot where we met. The NYS Museum was an incredible venue for our cocktail party and reception--offering unbeatable views & photos. Plus, over & over guests remarked that the NYS Museum (as a wedding venue) was "unique, incredible, & amazing".
We rented the carousel for the cocktail hour, which provided a wonderful setting for pictures and circulating before the formal reception began. Our friends and family had a lot of fun on the carousel, and we have some really great pictures as a result!
We then moved to the other side of the 4th floor, where the museum had been transformed--the security desk was a bar, and the middle of the room was a roomy dance floor, surrounded by tables for our dinner. The acoustics of the museum were good--we could hear toasts and music well. And we were fortunate enough to work with Albert Gnidica, who was an incredible source of energy, positivity, and assistance throughout the entire planning process until the very last guest left "Our Night at the Museum".
