The Little Chapel in the Woods is a historic wedding venue located in Denton, Texas. This intimate venue was built in 1939 and sits on the edge of Texas Woman’s University. It’s open to all beliefs and will accommodate ceremonies and vow renewals. Facilities and Capacity

Couples can accommodate up to 110 guests at this vintage-style ceremony venue. The historic chapel features beautiful, interior stained glass windows, pews with hand-carved woodwork, and gorgeous stone walls. There are tea light candles along the edges and lighted candelabras throughout. The space is 90 feet long by 24 feet wide and includes unity candle stands, pew clips, an organ, a piano, and a sound system. The exterior is surrounded by lush, green landscaping that is a perfect backdrop for unforgettable pictures.

Services Offered

This unique chapel has been holding wedding ceremonies since September 1939. Each couple will have the venue for three hours the day of their wedding, with a one-hour rehearsal any day prior to their ceremony. There will also be a chapel attendant on-site to make sure everything runs smoothly. They offer a bridal suite for you and your bridal party to get ready in, as well as lighting and sound for your event. There’s plenty of parking for you and your guests. They're wheelchair accessible and will assist you with setup and cleanup. They also offer event rentals which include the following:

Other Facilities

Texas Woman’s University campus also offers their Greenhouse and Gardens for an outdoor ceremony option. Your guests can sit on black garden chairs in a semi-circle as you say your “I do's” on their greenhouse patio, or the garden location of your choice. In case of inclement weather, you can exchange your vows at the Little Chapel.

History

The Little Chapel in the Woods was dedicated by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt shortly after holding their first wedding ceremony. It was designed by architect O’Neil Ford and built as a project for the National Youth Administration during the depression. Young women artists have put their stamp on countless features in the chapel. Its symbolism portrays “Women Ministering to Human Needs” on saw-pierced and riveted brass lighting and beech woodwork.
