Redington Ballroom for wedding reception

We held our daughter's wedding reception at The Lakefront Anchorage in the Redington Ballroom the first week of July. The Redington Ballroom worked great. There was plenty of room for the head table, guest tables, dance floor, DJ, and photo booth. Cocktail hour prior to the start of the reception was held in what is referred to as the "pre-function area" just outside the main ballroom which is the same area the buffet line is located during the reception dinner. We were very happy with the facility, but it was the sales staff that made the whole experience so wonderful. April was AWESOME to work with. She was very responsive to any questions we had, always positive and willing to help, and her years of experience was a huge blessing as she was quick to provide suggestions based on her years of experience working in the banquet business. Her assistant AJ was also very helpful and great to work with. Again, the facility was nice, but it was the sales staff that made the experience so positive. Thank you to April and AJ!

This venue was a bit tricky. When I was looking for a venue, I wanted a venue where I didn't I have to worry about anything and this one sounded like a dream come true. The manager was so helpful, she was had experience and was on top of her game. A few months before the wedding she ended up leaving and I got a new manager. Throughout the remaining time I felt more like I was manager her, rather than her managing the process. I would send her updated emails, and she would send me an updated receipts with things missing. The day of the wedding, there was a luncheon event in the reception room from 1pm-2pm and my wedding starts at 4pm. She never told me, I found out after the fact. There was a huge rush at the end to get everything setup, and things were still getting setup while guest were arriving. According to some guest the luncheon was still going on! We still managed to start the ceremony at 4:20pm. However when we got to the reception room, the back drop was white not blue. There was suppose to be a blue overlay on the wedding table, there was not, and the buffet tables were suppose to have a blue or white skirt, and it was purple. It was also about 80 degrees in the ceremony and reception room, it was very unusual warm. Other than the cosmetics issues, the food was great, and everything in the reception room went smoothly. After the reception the groom and I had a room for the night. We were told the room would be cleaned, there would be champagne and they would box some food for us since they understand we are too busy to eat. None of that happened. The very next day we left for our honeymoon, and when we got back, I was surprised with a credit charge from the venue. I immediately sent an email to the manager about what happened on the wedding day and this surprise charge. She apologized for everything, said there was no excuses, and issued a refund. No compensation was offered. I personally will not be going back to this venue.

Decent venue but definitely issues

We chose lakefront and had a wonderful wedding and great time. However, they butchered our schedule terribly. Dinner was served 45 minutes behind schedule which screwed up pretty much everything else for the evening. Then, our deserts were scheduled for 5:15, the lakefront held a copy TYPED of our schedule yet still the kitchen said they thought it was at 6:15 so unfortunately most of our guests left without a dessert. Our second issue was when we booked this as our venue, we were shown a specific green area near to the door with a perfect entrance location, unfortunately the lawn crew did not have it ready in time for our wedding and we need to move to a much more inconvenient location on the property. We were discounted half but I had to ask for the discount, it was not offered. We worked with Jeanette who was lovely to work with and many of these issues were out of her control as she was not there on the day of.

I had my wedding here at the end of May unfortunately I wasn't very impressed with the venue or it's staff. The event manager I had worked with for a year quit just a few weeks before my wedding. They hired two individuals to replace her. I feel like this just added to the confusion. Neither of them knew all of the things I wanted and had spoken to the event manager. I was given quotes by the event manager but the replacements didn't have them. Thankfully I had kept everything in my emails. The night before my wedding they were supposed to have everything set up by 5pm so I could start working on my personal decor, when I arrived, nothing was set up. When I came back after 9pm, it still wasn't complete. Made for a very late evening and additional stress. They tried to charge additional items after the fact. Thankfully I noticed and contact them to have the charges reversed. Venue was pretty but honestly the lobby and restaurant were very dated and uncleanly. You could see dust everywhere. Overall, I just wasn't impressed. It probably had a big thing to do with the change in staff but still.
