The Alaska Aviation Museum, located in Anchorage, Alaska, is a fabulous museum wedding venue, ideal for hosting a range of wedding events. This unique historical facility sits on the shores of the breathtaking Lake Hood, the world's largest seaplane base, providing stunning views. Couples can celebrate their day surrounded by over 30 amazing exhibits that depict Alaska’s historical use of aviation, creating a one-of-a-kind experience for you and your guests, sure to be remembered for years to come.
Facilities and Capacity
The Alaska Aviation Museum offers several truly unique event spaces to hold the wedding event of your dreams. Between May and September each year, the 737 Jet is available to host a gathering of up to 35 guests, allowing couples to hold their intimate ceremony within the jet itself for an extraordinary experience. For fabulous views, while you say your vows or a quirky cocktail reception, the Merrill Field Control Tower can hold up to 40 guests and provides panoramic views across Lake Hood and beyond. Alternatively, ceremonies can be held outdoors on the shores of Lake Hood for a picturesque service surrounded by loved ones and nature.
For your wedding reception, the Alaska Aviation Museum offers two large hangars featuring many historical exhibits. The Main Hangar can comfortably accommodate 150 standing guests or 120 for a seated reception. For larger parties, the Odom Hangar is available for up to 200 seated guests or 250 standing. The venue is happy to provide chairs and a range of tables for your event and each Hangar also comes with a wireless microphone, speakers, portable bar, and projector.

History
The Alaska Aviation Museum opened to the public in 1988, but it’s conception began over a decade earlier with the formation of the Alaskan Historical Aircraft Society, founded by Ted Spencer in 1977. Since it’s doors opened the Alaska Aviation Museum has been committed to displaying, preserving, and honoring Alaska’s rich aviation history. Over the years, they have collected aircrafts and memorabilia from all eras pertaining to Alaska’s historical aviation pursuits. You and your guests are sure to enjoy the wide range of displays and exhibits, including the amazing 1928 Stearman c2b.
