History James Seymour Capen, one of Winter Park’s first residents, built the establishment in 1885. Over the next century, it was owned by various local families and couples. It faced demolition in 2013, but the Winter Park community raised enough to money to save the house and move it to the Albin Polasek Museum. The Capen House went through a two-year renovation, resulting in a historic facility full of vintage elegance.
Location The Capen House is nestled along the edge of Lake Osceola. It is located near the Orlando Science Center, Winter Park History Museum and Rollins College. The Orlando International Airport is 29 minutes away.
Our wedding day was a dream at the Capen house! We loved the home, gardens, bridal suite, and lake views!
Because this is a historic home, there are strict rules that come with this venue, but I will tell you that navigating around these is doable and is SO worth it! Our photographers kept commenting that every inch of this property made for a beautiful shot - it’s gorgeous here! The location also can’t be beat - our guests loved spending the weekend in winter park, and we were able to book a trolley for a short ride to our after party on park Avenue. The required vendors for catering and rentals are lovely options and we had no issues working within this parameters. All in all, would highly recommend this venue!
