About

The Barn at Powder Major's Farm is a rustic yet elegant wedding venue in the seacoast region of New Hampshire. This historic farm property is surrounded by 200 acres of forest land, farm fields and pond with beautiful scenic views. The antique timber frame barn has been newly renovated and lovingly restored creating a perfect blend of authenticity, elegance and modern convenience. This picturesque private country estate offers indoor and outdoor flexibility for an unforgettable wedding ceremony and/ or reception. Once the homestead of New Hampshire patriot John DeMerritt, (aka the Powder Major), the property played an important role in the Revolutionary War and has been owned and occupied by just two families since the 1600s. It now provides the perfect setting that allows you to create your own history at the Powder Major’s Farm.

Facilities and Capacity

The Barn at Powder Major's Farm can accommodate 150 guests. The 40 x 80 foot barn was built in 1804. An adjoining timber-frame structure is also available for use and can serve as a ceremony site in the event of inclement weather. The main barn has a circular stone patio that overlooks the farm providing sweeping views of the fields, forest and pond, an ideal setting for a wedding ceremony. In addition, the venue has indoor bathrooms and is air-conditioned and heated.

Beautiful venue

My husband and I recently had our wedding at The Barn at Powder Major’s Farm, and it was truly amazing. Beth and Chuck put their whole hearts into the barn, and it shows in every detail. They have created such an incredible venue. Beth was extremely responsive and helpful throughout the planning process and truly helped keep me stress free every step of the way. On the day of the wedding, both Beth and Chuck were so supportive and helpful, which made everything feel calm and easy. Chuck made the grounds look absolutely beautiful, which added so much to the day.

I truly cannot recommend this venue enough. Sam and I had the most amazing day, and I am so grateful we found the most perfect place to get married.

Best wedding venue - don't hesitate to book!

The best venue - DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK! My husband and I got married this past August and after touring a few venues we immediately knew Powder Majors Farm was our spot. Beth and Chuck were so warm and supportive throughout the entire process, and as a DIY bride planning her own wedding I would not have been able to do so without their help and guidance! Our guests were WOW-ed with the venue, and we couldn't agree more. Thank you to Beth and Chuck for an incredible wedding venue - we are beyond grateful for the memories that will last a lifetime!

August 2023 Wedding

The barn is amazing, the owners take great care of the venue and it was everything I imagined.
Any of my questions I had, they answered! You get the barn for the whole weekend, so you can set up and hold a rehearsal there Friday, wedding anytime you want on Saturday (music must be off by 9 per town rules), then clean up last decorations on Sunday. (The owners helped do some clean up and with other little things during the day, I did not know this before the wedding) There is also an option for having the ceremony inside.
You do have to get all vendors, this is only the venue, but it was worth it! The owners do provide some vendors that have worked at the venue before as well.
It was a beautiful venue!

Couldn't have been happier!

We had such a perfect day at Powder Major's Farm! The barn and grounds are beautiful- we fell in love with the venue the first time we saw it- so much so that we were willing to completely change our preferred wedding date just to be able to have it at Powder Major's Farm. And we are so happy we did!

From start to end, Beth and Chuck were so wonderful to work with- they are kind, flexible, responsive and committed to making sure couples have a perfect day. We really appreciated the ability to choose all our own vendors and purchase our own alcohol. This helped us save a lot of money and plan the day exactly as we wanted. We couldn't recommend The Barn at Powder Major's farm more!

Five stars!

The Barn at Powder Major's Farm was truly our dream venue. Chuck and Beth we willing to work with us every step of our wedding journey: from being the first clients to book with them, to postponing due to the pandemic, to all the wacky things that pop up the week of your wedding. When our musicians were unable to attend last minute, Chuck and Beth were there to lend a hand and help find us replacement vendors.

I couldn't recommend this venue enough. Did I mention how beautiful it is?

Owners and Venue---Amazing

I had my wedding here in July of 2021, and boy was it amazing! From the planning stages of the wedding, to just days before, to the day of and beyond, Beth and Chuck were so helpful in providing my husband and I the best service with kindness and flexibility as the forefront of their mind. They answered every question we had, met our every need, and even helped us with set up and clean up.

The venue itself is GORGEOUS and blew away every guest! The venue, bathrooms, and grounds and landscaping were pristine. They even have a kitchen with a restaurant sink, counters, and refrigerator and freezer. This was very helpful when storing food/dessert from the catering companies I hired. They also have multiple places to set up a bar, as well as any piece of furniture you could need for your photos, guest book, seating, etc. They have full bathrooms and a nice sized parking lot. They let my guests who were taking the bus back to the hotel keep their cars there overnight and pick up the next day. This was very helpful!

I could go on and on about how pleased my husband and I were with this entire experience. Beth and Chuck are great people who truly want to provide couples with an amazing wedding experience. They have the venue and passion to do it! I cannot recommend Powder Majors Farm enough!!!

Beautiful Venue

There isn’t much that can be said that probably hasn’t already been said about Powder Major’s Farm but as a venue we couldn’t have been more happy. All of our guests were in awe of how beautiful the space was. Above that we chose it because it not only has a beautiful outdoor ceremony space but also a great backup option in case of rain. On our day, we had to make the call to move our ceremony inside due to this and looking back on it, it was intimate and just perfect. Not only that, but Chuck and Beth were so helpful throughout the process and go above and beyond what a venue typically does! 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a beautiful site to get married and have a wonderful reception!

The Hidden Gem of Southern NH Weddings... BUT not for long.

This new venue is an absolute gem. Nestled in Madbury on a beautiful plot of land, surrounded by conservation land complete with rolling hills and historic stone walls. Yand your guests feel private and intimate, while only being 20 minutes from Portsmouth or a little over an hour from Boston.

The barn truly speaks for itself and it’s history is an added bonus. This is not a rustic, burlap and mason jar kid of place (unless you want it to be) - the barn is a beautiful, empty canvas for you to create exactly what you want. We opted for minimal decor to show off the barn and the property - it was stunning.

A few things that make this venue stand out:
- The adjoined secondary event space, which is light and fresh and an absolutely beautiful “rain-plan”, should you not want to celebrate outdoors or experiences inclement weather.
- The farm table and chairs for 150 guests. No need for a massive rental order here!
- The built-in, brand new bathrooms and AC/heating unit. Say ‘no thank you’ to toilet trailers and weather woes.
- The land and sunset. Looking for outrageous ‘Golden Hour’ photos? This is the never ending lawn for you.
- The owners. Chuck and Beth have poured everything into this property. They are exceptional to work with - flexible, responsively, and friendly. We had an excellent experience working with them to create our dream event.

Simplistic Elegance for a Fairy Tale Wedding

My daughter had a vision of her fairy tale wedding. We searched for the perfect venue to provide that fairy tale and as soon as we visited Powder Major’s Farm we knew it was what would fulfill her vision. The barn provided a rustic but simplistic elegant atmosphere complete with farm tables, antique chandeliers, and stain glass windows. The venue allows the wedding party to add their own touches, which for us were flickering tea candles in glass lanterns and table runners made with simple real greens. The magical day began with a ceremony facing the beautiful fields of the farm that could not be compared to any other venue we visited. The backdrop of the barn and the fields made for a picture perfect wedding album. The center aisle open dance floor that we chose ran almost the full length of the barn which allowed all of our guests to easily join the dance floor from their tables, which made for a dance filled night. We ended the night sending the new couple out under sparklers under the stars. For my daughter and her new husband no other venue could have provided what they have since described as “the best day ever”. We highly recommend Powder Major’s Farm in Madbury NH.

Great Venue!

This is the most beautiful venue and Chuck and Beth were amazing to work with! Beth was very responsive and they both helped make all of our wedding dreams come true! The barn and the property are just absolutely stunning! We fell in love with this property the moment we stepped foot on it and it exceeded all expectations on our wedding day. Everyone had a place to hang out, whether it be outside playing cornhole, dancing inside the main barn at reception or drinking outside under the pavilion.
