The Barn at Powder Major's Farm is a rustic yet elegant wedding venue in the seacoast region of New Hampshire. This historic farm property is surrounded by 200 acres of forest land, farm fields and pond with beautiful scenic views. The antique timber frame barn has been newly renovated and lovingly restored creating a perfect blend of authenticity, elegance and modern convenience. This picturesque private country estate offers indoor and outdoor flexibility for an unforgettable wedding ceremony and/ or reception. Once the homestead of New Hampshire patriot John DeMerritt, (aka the Powder Major), the property played an important role in the Revolutionary War and has been owned and occupied by just two families since the 1600s. It now provides the perfect setting that allows you to create your own history at the Powder Major’s Farm.

Facilities and Capacity

The Barn at Powder Major's Farm can accommodate 150 guests. The 40 x 80 foot barn was built in 1804. An adjoining timber-frame structure is also available for use and can serve as a ceremony site in the event of inclement weather. The main barn has a circular stone patio that overlooks the farm providing sweeping views of the fields, forest and pond, an ideal setting for a wedding ceremony. In addition, the venue has indoor bathrooms and is air-conditioned and heated.

August 2023 Wedding

The barn is amazing, the owners take great care of the venue and it was everything I imagined.
Any of my questions I had, they answered! You get the barn for the whole weekend, so you can set up and hold a rehearsal there Friday, wedding anytime you want on Saturday (music must be off by 9 per town rules), then clean up last decorations on Sunday. (The owners helped do some clean up and with other little things during the day, I did not know this before the wedding) There is also an option for having the ceremony inside.
You do have to get all vendors, this is only the venue, but it was worth it! The owners do provide some vendors that have worked at the venue before as well.
It was a beautiful venue!

Best wedding venue - don't hesitate to book!

The best venue - DO NOT HESITATE TO BOOK! My husband and I got married this past August and after touring a few venues we immediately knew Powder Majors Farm was our spot. Beth and Chuck were so warm and supportive throughout the entire process, and as a DIY bride planning her own wedding I would not have been able to do so without their help and guidance! Our guests were WOW-ed with the venue, and we couldn't agree more. Thank you to Beth and Chuck for an incredible wedding venue - we are beyond grateful for the memories that will last a lifetime!

Couldn't have been happier!

We had such a perfect day at Powder Major's Farm! The barn and grounds are beautiful- we fell in love with the venue the first time we saw it- so much so that we were willing to completely change our preferred wedding date just to be able to have it at Powder Major's Farm. And we are so happy we did!

From start to end, Beth and Chuck were so wonderful to work with- they are kind, flexible, responsive and committed to making sure couples have a perfect day. We really appreciated the ability to choose all our own vendors and purchase our own alcohol. This helped us save a lot of money and plan the day exactly as we wanted. We couldn't recommend The Barn at Powder Major's farm more!
